Man, I want to watch Suzume so much! I watched the 12-minute preview on an anime website and I was hooked! Also, the main theme of Suzume is so wonderful!
When I saw this on a late night IMAX screening, it was the first movie I'd seen and the first non work related outing I'd allowed myself on since a bad breakup. The fact that 8-9 months prior I had visited a lot of these areas of Tokyo with my now ex, and being able to see those sights again through beautiful animation on that screen on my own (it was the final screening of the day so barely anyone was there)... I was weeping giant tears of happiness. Since then, I've created a personal holiday from that event. Every year in late January I rewatch this movie. I'd go pickup some of the Japanese food I ate that night, even if I had to order it (sadly they didn't survive Covid). I'd rewatch it, and generally tear up here and there still. Bonus, the movie itself is actually good on its own. Then again, I sometimes question if I'm capable of watching it without the emotional baggage I have with it, so I suppose you could say I'm biased, but I also don't really care for that to be honest. I love this movie.
The lyrics to "We'll Be Alright" are just brutally on point... it's like Hodaka is singing to Hina... "The world rests on your small shoulders - I'm the only one who sees that, and I’m on the verge of tears - 'Are you alright?' you notice that, and ask me - 'I'm fine,' I reply with haste, but... Why do you say that? You're the one who will fall."
This movie was so gorgeous! The first time I watched it, I got so many goosebumps! Also, there is this movie called “Ride Your Wave”, and it is magnificent! I recommend it if you are looking for any more movies. ❤❤
Tokyo used to be called the Venice of Japan. It truly used to be underwater. A lot of its land today is reclaimed. (Like the fair where Hina did her first sunshine duty is in Odaiba, a 100% artificial island)
There have been several proposed plans for megastructures to be built in Tokyo Bay to offset the population issue, Tokyo covers like a 50 mile radius and it can't keep expanding exponentially. None of them will ever be built obviously, megastructures are always nothing more than sketches and ideas, but it has been considered to reclaim more of the bay area surrounding the city for housing. I think it's not a bad idea if you do it properly, we only have so much viable land for people to live on.
When I first viewed Weathering With You, I always believed it was a stand-alone spin-off sequel to Your Name. To prove how it is connected to it, if the character from The Garden of Words Ms. Yukino cameoed as Mitsuha's teacher in Your Name. Well, the characters like Taki, Mitsuha, Tessie, and Sayaka from Your Name are now appearing in Weathering for cameos. It signifies Shinkai-sensei is making his work now exist in the same universe. Looks like comic book films aren't the only ones capable of creating crossovers of sorts.
When you described "imagine living with no sun, raining all the time, half the city under water" I couldn't help but think of the city I live in, Seattle.
I'm about to end my day by watchingg you react to one of my faves when it comes to Japanese animated films. 😭 The storyy is unique and amazing, ngl, but what left me speechless about this film is the animation and ost. Is There Anything Love Can Do? is DEFINITELY in my top 5 favourite songs, Radwimps always deliver in Makoto Shinkai's films and I can't wait for the next OST!!!
I'm an absolute sucker for this film as well as "Your Name". It's not that of a tear jerker as Your Name and A Silent Voice, but still has its beautiful moments like it. I need to watch this one again. I just remember i didn't like it as much as your name. There are some older movies by Makoto Shinkai. 10cm per second is great. Also the garden of words. I had the great luck to meet Makoto Shinkai once before he got that popular with your name 😁
"This fifteen year old soon to be urchin wants a single day with her mother? Okay I can do that, deal, but once you're sixteen you will be dyed," - God.

You should watch garden of words. Same studio/director of your name and this movie. It was his first movie and there is a cameo in your name, from garden of words
Some people think that hodaka is very selfish. Why do you want to save a person instead of a city? Because these people are used to the ending of sacrificing themselves and saving the world. I like this movie very much. It can be said that this movie expresses a teenager bravery, compared to the indifferent world that has always given him, he chose hina that has always given him warmth.
if you thought this was good. you will not be ready for 'i want to eat your pancreas' most emotional piece of art ive ever witnessed. i HIGHLY reccomend it.

@@ΓιάννηςΛάμπρης its funny... coz for me, 5cm is the most boring makoto shinkai's movies, really predictable and really slow pace.
I really want you to react "I want to eat your pancreas". One of the top 3 anime movies of all time imo. Great reaction like always
you could watch Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind it is also a film by studio Ghibli, but from before they had this name. It's an old movie so it might not be as good on the channel but it's really nice and interesting.
I need to watch this one again. I just remember i didn't like it as much as your name. There are some older movies by Makoto Shinkai. 10cm per second is great. Also the garden of words. I had the great luck to meet Makoto Shinkai once before he got that popular with your name 😁
that's taki and mitsuha @alana misako tessie and sayaka was in the ferris wheel too
About the music: Yup! Radwimps wrote the music for this movie, just like they did for Your Name!🎶
"This fifteen year old soon to be urchin wants a single day with her mother? Okay I can do that, deal, but once you're sixteen you will be dyed," - God.
I've lived in the UK too long because the idea of it raining every day doesn't bother me, it's not really any different from reality.

Basically in London
I'm waiting for your reaction when watching the anime movie "i want to eat your pancreas" and mybe "the garden words" because those are also my favorite anime movies 👍👍
Everything was super pretty 😍 😘 💓
This movie was amazing🥺🥰
So happy you reacted to this!!! Love weathering with you! Which Shinkai movie did you enjoy more Your Name or Weathering With You?
15:57 Tessie and sayaka
josee the tiger and the fish one of the best too
I also recommend movie called “silent voice” if you have not watched it yet it’s one of my favorite🙏
Yes your name main character is in the weathering with you u r correct
Yes! Taki and Mitsuha!
You should watch garden of words. Same studio/director of your name and this movie. It was his first movie and there is a cameo in your name, from garden of words
Makoto Shinkai and Radwimps are totally amazing.
so yes this takes place during the time skip at the end of Your Name
Some people think that hodaka is very selfish. Why do you want to save a person instead of a city? Because these people are used to the ending of sacrificing themselves and saving the world. I like this movie very much. It can be said that this movie expresses a teenager bravery, compared to the indifferent world that has always given him, he chose hina that has always given him warmth.
Yeah of course ruining hundreds of thousands of people's lives isn't very selfish
44:10 epick moment
15:58 Tessi from your name 😂
The garden of words is also directed by the same director, so you should watch that movie too.
I love this movie and I'm excited for the new Makoto Shinkai movie
You should definitely check out “I want to eat your pancreas!” It’s definitely up there with “A Silent Voice” and “Your Name,” if not better imo
talking about songs in anime, you might want to check out "K-on! can't communicate." Easily one of the best this season
Wolf children and garden of word are two other ones that are very good
This is before Taki and Mitsuha met at the stairs
if you thought this was good. you will not be ready for 'i want to eat your pancreas' most emotional piece of art ive ever witnessed. i HIGHLY reccomend it.
If you're looking for more similar movies to the ones you've been watching, some of the other big ones a lot of reactors watch are Wolf Children or Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms! Those are two other pretty popular movies in the whole "anime blockbuster films that make you happy cry" genre.
love this movie !!
22:58 That is MITSUHA !!! :)
