The old sump plug and oil filter housing were in way too tight. Normally they're tightened to just 25nm. You were lucky the sump didn't crack or the gasket got loosened by the force you had to use to get that sump plug out.

These things don't surprise me anymore. This was the first time I've serviced this car. It will be so much easier next time.

I wish I had a lift to work on. I also don't like working outside, in the rain on the ground!
Successfully drain plug removal, would have been more entertaining if it had run down your sleeve
