@RRRCUK I know the type you mean. Nissan have coiled their springs the opposite direction and my kit doesn't do them. We had previously used them o do those springs but they're not ideal, so as we have another to do, we bought the right tool

@@RRRCUK not sure if the head would fit, but I've seen people use the charger for sure. Would need to use a metering head from a Saab turbo or similar to assist with the increased fueling

Pretty happy with the fix. There appeared to be no wear to the crank or Conrod. The bearing, in this case, had sacrificed itself.

@@RRRCUK how many ks have you done since then?

It is due its next oil change since doing them. I will inspect it and hopefully there are no sparkly bits. £47 repair. Cannot complain.

These are inanimate objectives. No need for programming. You would only need to program if you replace the body control module (BCM) which is the brain of the operation.

Great little cars!! I have lots of trouble with my Audi. I'm replacing all the moving parts up front chasing a clicking sound. The simple things hey!!

@ I ended up bending all the valves due to buying a wrong aftermarket part, rebuilt the head myself etc and still having issues

Can you get hold of a full second hand head? Rebuild that and start afresh? I see that as a job I might end up doing in the future 🧐

@@RRRCUK the head is fine and so is the timing I’ve double checked that with a mechanic, I took out some carbon flaps and now the things misfiring and it started throwing up crankshaft position sensor codes however I have been told the sensors basically break even if you look at them so possibly when I put a lightweight crank pulley on that messed it up and the ecu had to relearn and maybe broke the sensor. 🥲 confused me but I’ll get there eventually!

I have 3 R53's and an RS3 Saloon. The audi would be in a ditch trying to keep up with an r53 on a B road, they go round corners like they are on rails. When a straight comes up tho.......

@ yes they can be hard to work on. I’ve just replaced the minors rear leaf springs and shocks , the easy job turned into three days of grazed knuckles trying to undo cold welded nuts and bolts. Had to cut them off in the end.

​@@SavingMinisunfortunately not, there is a big leak. I think the fluid has escaped. I have a plan to remove, refresh with a replacement motor and new hoses. Are you thinking of the alternator because it's electric? Great shout!

@ yeah. They’re sensitive to voltage and signals. I’ve got an eBay alternator on mine and it takes 10 or so seconds after switch on for the power steering to work. Believe OEM doesn’t have this issue and works instantly. My pipe with the metal section was leaking at the join. Ended up buying a set from eBay for around £20, had to trim the non hard pipe down to fit. It didn’t come with crush washers though so had to source separately

This is great information. I hope the pipes I have bought are a set that fit straight on!! My alternator is a part from a doner car. Looks like a genuine 20 year old part. Thank you, I am learning a lot from you!!
