    Been waiting for this. I don't care if it's not concourse standard. You'd want a new body shell. I love Fords with sharp edges like this and the Mk3 Cortina but these sharp edges tend to mean rust later in life. But for you, this old girl wouldn't have probably seen another winter never mind an MOT and what your doing is true to the car's history. You say you're self trained and perhaps sometimes fools rush in where angels fear to tread but God love you, you're prepared to take the risk and have a go when many would have thrown up their hands in despair. Great to watch and I'll be following you closely! Carry on bud! Great job!

    Give James at Avolution motorsport a bell, he’s a magnum panel distributor and great to deal with.
    Shame you keep finding more patches, but I’m sure it’ll be worth the work in the end.

      Thank you. I bought panels from a ford supplier. We will see how well they work out. Keep me on the right track. I need your support

      I just need to get any holes filled before the humidity rises. One step at a time.

    You’re doing great with it. I’d have freaked at discovering all that unexpected stuff. I’d buy as many panels as I could (decent ones) to reduce the burden because there’s so much to do. It’s more work, but what about removing the wing for better access? You’ll need to think about what you’re going to do when the weather turns. You might even want one of those rotisserie devices when doing the floors. Have you costed it out as far as you can? Obviously these cars are relatively high value, so that works in your favour. Thanks for showing us your project, much respect to you.

      Thank you. I'll do the best I can. Learning the art of welding in the process.
      I hope the car does keep some value. It might be finished in time for my little boy to drive it. Ha ha.
      Thank you 🙏

    Most people watching RUclips have never done this much work on a car or any work at all. It's your car and if you enjoy working on it, go for it. I fought a rear wheel bearing hub today for hours so you aren't alone. It's the real world.

      Thank you. Wheel bearing on some cars can be a huge struggle. Peace be with you. I hope the task was completed with success!?

      These are typical of keeping a car on the road in the 90s and 2000s
      I am working on a fix now that repair panels are available for sale. Big job 💪

    Fair play taking the wiring harness out, looks awful now but will be spot on when you get the nice new metal in, carparts express do full floor pan side repair panels if you need any, would make the job easier/better

    I think your decision to go for it and use new panels to clear off that nasty pastiche of repairs is the way to go, even if its a long and hard way. The only real thing you want to be "concourse" when you have a daily driveable and enjoyable classic like this, is chassis, suspension and brakes. All the rest is just for looks and can be done any time later, should you wish to, even a smoking engine. Just don't spare any effort in the body & structure, specially now that you went all the way to strip it down. Better have it off the road some months more, than later driving it with the regret of knowing what lays beneath the paint in some places. Once you've seen it, you can't unsee it! 😉

    It's had some bad repairs covered up. Think you have to cut the old repairs out start again. Lease your now they are good repairs and will not bubble rust out years to come.

    Hi 👋🏻 I do feel for you I've been there myself. Does it get any easier? No , with my Rs turbo for every job completed 3 more jobs lay in its wake . The classic 90's bodges , I try to laugh them off. Today's perception is it has to be perfect or original , don't listen to them,what people don't realise is the parts required for MK3/4 escorts just aren't available . Very little being reproduced like on mk1&2's , with a older mk1&2 you can build a whole car with parts off the shelf , and there cheap. I know what gets you thinking, 'I've done this much while I'm here Il just do that or I need to make a better job of this . Like you say there's no point spending £20k on a car worth £20k . If I costed my own time I probably spent £10k already, what can we say it's a hobby. At least we will have enjoyment from the work we put in and we will be able to drive them without having to worry.
    The alternative is spending £40k plus on a garage queen , how crazy is that 😂

    • @RRRCUK
      @RRRCUK  14 дней назад +1

      Thank you!! This won't be a garage queen. I'm excited to drive it. The enjoyment of building a car to drive is still there. I wish for an indoor space to complete it.
      Keep posted!! Keep me motivated

    I had the same issue as you with the fusebox area. I didn't take the wiring harness out, I just loosened it and covered everything in foil tape to protect it. Looks like you are getting the hang of making your own panels. Have you ever thought about getting an anvil to make it easier?

    • @RRRCUK
      @RRRCUK  16 дней назад +1

      I think I have a large bench vice somewhere. Possibly my brother garage? I took the harness out for fear of burning it. It already has repairs. I will tidy these up with solder and heat shrink. Thank you for watching!!

    Nice project mate...Don't listen to the keyboard warriors they will never be able to help themselves 😂 You have the right idea cutting all the rot out one thing i'd definately do is investigate the work that's already been done a bit more due to finding freddy the filler man been playing in there...I pulled some silicone and pigeon poo welding out of my mk2 escort a fortnight ago so you're not the only one 🤔🫤👍
