Watch the ride leading up to this point and subscribe to my wifey Nikki! ruclips.net/video/pt4RZFXJUYg/видео.html
Hi guys I am so grateful for those vids. I am learning (woman) and I already had two Macho Teachers that weren't half as patient as DanDan is. I get sad when I see what is possible with a little understanding. Please continue the good work and thank you from Germany
Let's try riding together I'm not sure where you live but we can go up the 2 Highway it's a great ride whether you live in the city find the desert we can meet halfway
I know this video is older but I hope you get this. I have been watching your videos together, and your review/ classroom videos. You were a great help and helped me feel safer while taking my MSF class. I passed with flying colors and it is at least in part from you guys' videos.
Thank you.
First off, congrats Nikki! You've progressed nicely and the joy you express in your voice and body language when you realize each step forward is awesome! Secondly, congrats Dan for being the husband and trainer you are for Nikki. I watched the video yesterday where you guys were talking about negative Nancy's making negative comments about your training style with her and your choice of first bike for her. I would say to tell those jack wagons to piss up rope and then ignore them. As a trainer myself (for truck drivers) I know that repetition is a solid and proven training method, both spoken word and physical action. Your training has worked for Nikki and the her skills, confidence & joy for riding are irrefutable proof of that! You keep being her trainer/husband and all will be well. Third, I'm glad you mentioned riding in and out of the shadows to Nikki as a hazard. That can really play games with your perception. I have found that looking through the shadows as best you can to be helpful. The thing you didn't mention was rocks on the roadway. You did mention debris which covers that, I suppose, but one doesn't picture rocks in the middle of your lane when thinking debris. I'm sure you know that rocks in the lane of travel are not an uncommon occurrence on Mt Lemon. I have come around some of those corners to be greeted by what I would call small boulders right on the edge of my lane!! Being surprised by that can be a little unsettling. Sorry for the long post. Just my $.02!! Keep up your good work (both of you)!
Such a good mentor! And his brave girl, i happy about this! Thank you, both of you.
I was a newbie a newborn motorcyclist and i feeeeeel what Nikki feels, its a wonderfull feeling!
What Nikki expressed at 32:10 is exactly the sentiment we all want to hear & feel. Riding is unique to everyone and each of us mature at our own rate. I'm so glad She is enjoying it so far. Good job NIkk! 👍👍
this was a great series....do another one with your wife. Very entertaining... very educational...just great.
Wow! What a fantastic riding coach you are! I love the constant communication and encouragement! I wish we had two way comms when my wife was learning. She rode well but ultimately decided she enjoyed the pinion position better!
If you jump up and down, the first question is “do you have to shit”= Awesome
Nikki is so sweet!. I feel so much identified with her. I'm a new rider too. now this vid is 2 years old, she must be very good now. I share much of her feelings and fears on this point. you both are very good in this, keep the good work.
I'm an experienced rider, but honestly while listening to your rider briefing I was getting nervous. Props to Nikki doing it!
You guys are cool. Enjoying watching your videos.
Amazing! Congratulations! Congratulations! Congratulations! DanDanTheFireman = MASTERCLASS! GO AHEAD! NIKKI is a TOP PILOT!
Thanks for taking us along for this ride. Got Mount Lemmon on my list to ride. Nikki kicked a**!
I've seen plenty of deer up there when I ride early in the morning. Came around a corner by the ranger station one morning and there was a deer standing right in my lane. It's amazing how well they can climb up a very steep rock face!
Love these videos, and as she gets more proficient watching more couple rides will be amazing ^^
I live in Oklahoma and a couple of years ago I took a trip back to Tucson (where I used to live) & drove up Mount Lemmon. My bike was back home but watching this video was like a virtual bike ride up the mountain. So very very cool!
Great job Nikki
Hi Nikki and Dan! I loved the video. I wish I would have had a mentor to be able to do what you're doing progressively like you are Nikki, enjoying the journey, however long it takes you. And of course, it takes the viewer to imagine themselves doing it with you, listening what Dan has to say about the curves, hazards, distance between riders, reminding visually that in winding roads you go single file and not staggered like in the straight ways, that way you have your scape routes available (you'll be surprised how many people do not remember that and continue staggered when they going on curvy roads)
Thank you for all you are doing and I wish I could be riding with you up and down the mountain :-)
I really love this!
Really Enjoyed the serious... fun to watch and great real life examples of what to expect
Hey Dan love watching your videos I just completed my MSF course here in Tennessee this weekend of November 9 and 10 I like to think your videos helped me a lot thank you for putting out great content and keep it up
I feel like your wife and I could be friends with that old school Parent Trap reference 😂
My wife will do her bike driver license next year, thats Why we bought her the ctx700n, your Video reminds me what i have to expect next year 😂🤭
In the early ‘80s, I often rode my Honda CB750F Super Sport up Mt. Lemmon Road. Was a very cool!
Wish you would bring the series back!.
Well, you two are just adorable (said with old biker voice) lol. Great job Nikki!
Cute video guys. Thanks for sharing!
Love your videos keep up the good work, learning a lot
That tree is awesome we almost always stop at the tree to turn on the go pros
Great video!!! Y'all both did such a great job! I don't think I could do those mountain roads; I have this ridiculous fear of falling off the edge. It's terrifying. Nikki handled it like a pro!!
Great video Dan! I’m a new rider here in Tucson and this video is great since we do base rides up to Mount Lemmon! It gives me an idea of what to expect and how to tackle Mt Lemmon when I decide to ride it!
Live in PA. Deer are everywhere. If you honk or flash your lights at deer they often freeze. Most of the time its best to just let off the throttle and brake if you have time and space to stop. Otherwise, swerve to whatever side their rear end is facing. If you try to swerve around their face, they will often run or jump directly into you. If you swerve around their back side, they will most often run away from you, giving you more space.
I came down Mt. Lemon once, awesome fun ride. Perfect constant radius turns all the way. Arizona highways are very motorcycle friendly. Whenever there is a diminishing radius turn they'll have a sign alerting motorcycles to beware. Other than those funky ass hotdogs, Tucson rocks.
U need more of her in ur vids I learning so much more when u try tell when she needs to do
I really enjoyed this ride. It felt as if I was there with the both of you. I love the terrain tat you're riding. the fact that you're riding with Nikki listening to the conversation on your intercom makes it more enjoyable. I wish mi wife would like to ride with me but she has her limitations and that's cool with me. I had a chance to ride to Sedona once. Maybe I can gout to Arizona again some time and see some of these scenic places that you're riding some day. Keep it up. I'm glad I found your blog. I look forward to you and Nikki riding more trails.
Advice as a seasoned rider .... ALWAYS ALWAYS let the more innexperienced and slower driver lead .... even if it stresses them so the can concetrate more on the road , usually there is the tendency to fixate on the "mentor" "teacher" (name it how you want) instead of the road your wife progresses very very nice well done to both of you its very informative and entertaining watch you guys
Good teaching style.
I enjoy your videos as well Dan

JUAN DAYYYY!!
it's official! Fish like motorcycle
LOL, those cold feet cartoons. As to the topic, I bought these Insulated camp boots from REI...one of my favorite purchases ever. Maybe a good his&hers thing for Christmas.
Great job! This is on my to-do list before I leave Arizona, but I live in Gilbert so it would have to be a multi-day affair for me.
You could make it a weekend trip if you haven’t already done it. I’m in gilbert too off Val vista and baseline. Ride out on the 60 to the 79 south through Florence cause it’s more calm than the i10! Than turn right at Oracle junction and your not far from it. It’s like a 3 hr and 15 min trip one way. I believe it’s closed right now though and it will start to get cold and snowy up there!
Am I the only one who appreciates a good classic Parent Trap reference?
Great video Dan. Much respect on the commentary . I tried one time to explain a road I ride and the dangers. I just deleted the footage 🤣😂. It’s much harder than most people know, to articulate what you are thinking while riding. Maybe I will try again one day🤷♂️
I had a Subscriber of mine tell me today about your channel, since I also live in Tucson I was talking about not finding any other content creators in Tucson. I have been Riding all my Life and Ihave a Moto Vlog Channel That i used to Vlog on, its called 1Down4Up. So i guess i will check out your channel now. The first Thing I would do to teach someone how to ride would be to learn how to pick up a bike thats laying on its side.
I've noticed that when you (Dan) move or lean your body toward an upcoming corner, you keep head perpendicular to the road surface (like a road racer), but Nikki doesn't.
It is an important technique that keeps your brain from thinking that it's starting to fall.
I'd have thought that your parking lot "slow turns" would have used the same technique ... but I haven't watched all of those yet.
Anyway ... just curious why you're not both doing the same thing.
Hey Dan, I just crashed the other day. It’s all on video. I watch all your videos and take your advice. Although I’ve been riding since a child and Ben through a few classes you give great advice. Like you I was an EMT and a Corpsman in the Navy for 21 years. My question is how do I get you my video and your opinion on how to avoid something like this in the future. It’s on RUclips, the title is “Near head on, always wear your gear all the time.”Thanks for all your great work and know that people like me are paying attention .
Do you walk her through pre-ride safety briefing every time you two ride? Poor girl... :(
:D
No. I don't
@@DanDanTheFireman You know I'm kidding, right? :D
BTW, I like your Indian. The BEST cruiser. As a matter of fact, only cruiser I would like to have.
And, what camera you have on your handlebars?
The Goldie Locks Zone. 🤟
Nice job, Nikki, that looked like a fun ride. I noticed you guys keep your visors down the whole time. Nikki even commented on wishing she could feel the wind on her face. Why not open up the visor on a ride like this? I just recently switched to a full face helmet, thanks in part to DDFM videos, but I like to ride with my visor up if I'm under 50 MPH. I like to feel the wind, especially when it's warm outside. I always have sunglasses on so I feel like my eyes are protected.
Planning on a trip to Arizona next year to see my uncle who lives in Prescott Valley. He says there’s a lot of good riding up there.
9k ft is nothing. Head up to Colorado. Loveland Pass is just under 12k feet
I live on a mountain called Chloe mountain, you have to go down this one and across another one just called “town mountain” so all of my local roads are like the roads in this video. Only slot more trees 😂
Oh my God my first mountain ride (I live in the flattest country in the world, The Netherlands) was Mount Hamilton on a rented motorcycle. I was scared as hell. But I made it even with very hasty riders in our group trying to have me ride faster.
So cool that you have a woman you can teach how to ride Leslie react but not afraid to learn new things I love it wish me luck in finding one like that Dan Dan the fireman wish me that if you can
How do you like the gear indicator on the rebel? I’ve heard good and bad things about them. Not sure if you have a video on the install but I will definitely be looking.
Works great. It's not perfect but it does give a good indication of what gear. Just route it and use Sugru to mount
I envy you guys, I wish I had a partner to ride with.
Great videos
Back in May, there was a 21 year old kid that crashed his bike and died at that pullout you stopped at by milepost 15.
Is Nicki still riding? Miss seeing her in the vlogs
What an nice ride,
Is this the last one, Be interesting to see her ride on her own sometime.
It's always good to have a game plan. I haven't started riding yet. I have all my gear and my endorsement BUT still choosing a bike. R3 or ninja400?
Both will have around the same speed and feel. I highly recommend you go and sit on both bikes, and choose whichever feels most comfortable to you. If they feel the same to you, then choose whichever you would have fun riding.
If you're 1.82m+ then the r3 will be to low for you, it's a small bike, sadly 😔
So yea check the bikes you like out
@@trekwars9298 thanks
@@illhaqu777 appreciate it
Ninja 400!!! For Sure
How do you spell relief... DCT... skip the clutch, go DCT...she'll love you for it! My 2¢ JP
The bike I was on is a 2019 Kawasaki Vulcan S.
I need to live in this place......! When 70 degrees is cold, that's bike country!! Currently 8 celsius in these parts........heated grips on 75%...
I want to do that ride so bad... any recommendations or advice? Where is a good place to stay, any nice RV parks close by? Would love to make that ride with you guys one of these days!!! Have you ever done any rides in Texas?
Can we see more of Nikki please and her perspectives from a women
Never mind I just went to her channel as you suggested lol. Love you guys
She sounds just like America Ferrera. It's a little unnerving. Lol
I wouldnt really call that a mountain but on the shady side of the mountain with no sun on the road you have to watch out for ice too.
Is this in Tucson or Phoenix
i like
Hey Dan, great video! I gotta ask, how are you liking the FTR1200? I am the same height as you but I am nervous about the seat height; any tips? Keep up the great content!
any more videos of Nikki to learn from?
Nope
@@DanDanTheFireman ok
Where is this? Please send me a link.
dan when did you get the indian like hell yea ive missed to many videos
Pretty sure that was a butterfly not a moth, Dan. Did Nikki have an interested in motorcycles before she met you?
No group ride in a year?
4:17 ease
This is over the top. Telling her the degrees of each corner?
Dan, your instruction in this one is great. It was certainly beneficial to me. Thank you.
Question 1; What’s the deal with the “tar snakes”. Is there a risk of losing traction?
Question 2 & 3; Does Nikki’s helmet have the word “HOE” above her shield? Shouldn’t it read something like “Princess” or “Sunshine”?🤣
Tar snakes don't have the same traction as asphalt especially when it's hot and when it's wet. So try to avoid hard braking directly on a tar snake and watch your speed and lean angle in corners with tar snakes.
The helmet is a (S)hoe(i)...
A 250cc dual sport would do a lot of good on dirt roads till she learns the basics
What's wrong with this picture - 0:10 to 3:40?
Watched this, had to go ride some, got a little wet but it stopped, saw a nice old bike. Really good video, scenery...we can cheat.
I'm new to riding and just got a 450 Rebel, anyone in the Denver area?!
