1. Tight buns and ponytails can break off hair (use scrunchies not rubber bands)
2. Low manipulation hair styles are necessary for hair growth (aka wash n' go)
3. Don't rely on oil for moisture.
4. Don't skip shampoo! You can buy a moisturizing shampoo or clarifying shampoo. Your scalp needs to be clean and to breath.
5. Don't overdo it with protein products.
6. Protect your hair. Use satin line scrunchies, wrap hair at night, use satin pillowcases, and t-shirts to dry hair.
7. Don't overstretch your hair too often. This includes banding your hair.
8. Have a routine and stick to it. LOC method, LCO method, etc.
9. Switch up your products. Your hair will get used to products and it will stop working.
10. Avoid combing and brushing your hair consistently. Also, clean brushes and combs regularly!

I see you NaturalReign, that means I'm about to stomp the subcribe button. Plus this video had some good stuff.

I've learned low blood levels(anemia) will stop hair growth sometimes your hair not growing is telling you something within your body isn't right **Def learned that this year**
I am anemic and have been for years... it does.
Woww that’s really interesting bcuz I’m anemic myself
Learned that lesson this year as well! My hair is flourishing as I take this iron pills
Wow I’ve been complaining about my hair being at a stand still and yesterday I just found out I’m anemic🤔my doc told me to start prenatal vitamins for my iron so I’m going to see how it goes
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 every time I'm pregnant I have to take iron pills when I'm pregnant my hair grows faster...I need to go to the doctor
*Uses cocnut oil on hair before video begin*
Video:Stop using oil
Me:looks into mirror and questions life...
Lol you're fine if you put a good water-based product some time recently. Coconut oil penetrates the hair shaft so it does help prevent breakage. Like she said just don't rely on it as moisturizer.
Emmanuel Hinds omg me right now 😂😂💔
I’m over here staring at my bottle of coconut oil. I always use the LOC method so thought I had enough moisture 🤔
Same just bought a jojoba/ tea tree oil mix to use 😭 🤣
@@PsychGirlRaven if it works for you keep doing it! She just said not to use oil alone as a moisturizer. Coconut oil is bomb in combo with a liquid and a cream!
“By the time u done banding u got a whole silk press “😂😂😂💀

*You right, you right fran*
You're a fool. Switch it up. You switch up your drawls dont you?😂😂 The routine is key. I totally agree.
Lol I do this just for you Sori lmaoooo
I literally hollered out loud at work. This lil lady here is too funny.
😂😂 so funny
I never understood the “oil for moisture” concept. When you are thirsty, you do not grab a glass of oil to drink, so if your hair is thirsty...water, water, water. You said it Sis...using quality water-based products, quality!!! ...and a weekly routine...cleansing shampoo, conditioner and styler...40 minute wash and go and I’m out the door. When I hear someone say they are sealing in the moisture with oil, I just want to scream...it’s the shampoo that elevates the hair cuticle to receive the water and the conditioner that closes or seals the cuticle back down...so if you didn’t allow the water to get in during the shampoo process, all that other stuff is a waste of money on products.
I have a terrible case of psoriasis so I have to use oil and or grease on my scalp. Water and or water based products don't take to my hair and just leave it dry and brittle. Everyone is different 🤷♀️
@@May52525 exactly. Oil and grease is the only thing that makes my hair moisturized and good. All those cream butters and leaveins do nothing but dry my hair out. I keep it ol school with my hair not all this new aged crap and im only 26 lol
Lol did you have to come for my life like this?! Lazy natural here because my hair is too thick and hurts my arms so I literally just put it in a bun for a week 😬😩
lol you know im a thick hair natural too but once you train you hair it gets EASIER! My wash days only last 2 hours from Shampooing to being completely dry now
@@KimberlyCherrell Ok I just have to suck it up and keep to a strict routine then
Yessss.. and I’ll be exhausted after doing that 😂
Me too lmfao
Yep ...thats me my hair alwayz in a bun
Wait! 😂Banding for the gods end up with a whole silk press 🤣took-me-out!
It was probably even more funny to me because...I've done it.

FACTSSS
What happens if you work out and don't wash your hair
@@kylinshaw9423 Letting that sweat and your natural oil sit on your scalp will cause build up and suffocate your hair follicles that grow out of your scalp. And when your hair is trying to grow out of that space, your hair might come out finer and maybe slower. You're limiting growth potential. Green beauty channel has a visual that might help you understand why you should keep a clean scalp.
@@dominique4432 I did not know that, I have to do better

I am so tired of these videos....so THANK YOU for being both entertaining and informative! Love this!
You started this video strong with the facts of wearing a ponytail causes breakage cause chile I'm in the military and 💀 ima just say I'm in the ugly stage lmao 😭
LOL I had to! No-one talks about it but I always see it!! - I know in the military they make you bun it but you guys can do faux locks now right?
Kimberly Cherrell we can but we still have to be able to have it in a bun there's regulations on it smh
Destiny Mitchell when i was in i would do flat twists or mini twists and wear them in a bun... i saw a change once i started stuff like that
Yessss! I've been trying to find ways to protect my ends from breaking while in the army
A. Boyd i used to get breakage at my crown or in the middle of my bun... weird i know😂😂but i just stayed on top of deep conditioning and doing styles where the ends could be secured (flat twists) or mini twists... its just tough bc you cant really move your bun around so the tension isnt in the same place.
“You switch up ya drawers don’t you.?!” 😂😂😂 you are so funny!! But this was definitely helpful!!!

Very beneficial. Can you do a video about how to your natural hair during fall/winter months. I live in Pennsylvania and we have some serious cold weather problems.

I just want to say your personality and you are hilarious! I loved every bit of this video :)
*You forgot to add that you're not drinking enough water*
Drinking Water doesn't have that much impact on ur skin or hair
Finally !!! I’ve watched so many videos and this one knows her stuff !! Thank u girl !! Some people just repeat what other people say in their videos but this one is gold !
You are too cute. I dont have a probleming growing my hair. I agreed with all you said except 2. I haven't used shampoo since 2003. I use WEN. I also love oil but my oil is used just before I add my gel. After washing, I use Aloe Vera juice. My hair is saturated with that, then my leave in, I've already deep condition. I use another cream for moisture, styling cream then my oil and gel. I get a great wash n go every time. I was happy when I ran across your videos and saw all you use to moisturized your hair.
I hope when you get your million viewers (and you will), you dont change your content. My favorite make up you tuber has become so silly that i dont watch her video anymore or i fast forward through the silliness. You are a breathe of sunshine and I'm a older lady watching.
May God blessed your channel so you can inspire others that are starting.

Girl, why did you have to attack me like this??? 😂😭💀
Im sorry friend 😔 😂😂
I love this your the first Woman I seen that didn’t make it boring while being informative 😭💛
aww thanks! Have to keep your attention
I agree with the oil comment, sis. Say it louder for those in the back, OILS DONT MOISTURIZE! If you’re using quality products, they should contain enough natural oils in them for your hair to prosper. 😆 and omg yes. Please use shampoo lol. And you’re hilarious, I enjoyed this video!!
Thanks boo!!! I said it louder too lmao
Not for everyone. I have coarse hard stands so I need the extra oils to lubricate my hair. People with thinner stands might not need to do the same. The natural community tends to follow this one size fits all mentality, and although I know that you're not claiming this works for everyone I just wanted to put this out there. People like to hop on bandwagons like finger detangling and cowashing, and then it's on to the next trend.
What creams do you use to moisturize your hair? My hair is so dry lately 😭
@@jjayjae_ no one is saying not to use oils at all, just saying don't use that as your only source to moisturize.
You have me rolling in laughter. But it’s all facts ! “You switch up your draws don’t you” 😂😂😂. Sisss, let me catch my breath !

Can't totally agree with #9 because I don't want to be a product junkie again. I can definitely switch up deep conditioners because they run out the fastest, but the rest stays the same. Using different oils to pre-poo and after applying the leave in conditioner is my way to switch up, and so far so good.
Great content, and beautiful wash'n go. Thanks for sharing!

You are too funnnnny! 😃 especially when you said ya switch up ya draws don’t u😭😭I died☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
It’s funny my hair naturally grows very slowly but these past two months since I trimmed it I SAW GROWTH and I honestly think it’s because I’m moisturising (with WATER) and styling my hair every other day and if it’s in a ponytail I only tie it round once really loose. I doubt I’ll see loads more growth though cause my genetics probably won’t allow for that 😂 but time will tell ..
Idk why I wasn’t subscribed b/c I watch EVERY video. I fixed it though lol
You had me dying when you said “you change your draws don’t you? Change up your products” 😂😂😂

I think oils do help. The ppl apart of the natural hair movement at the beginning were whipping up hair mixtures that they saw results from. Now I will say the quality products on the market have increased so adding a layer of oil seems unnecessary. But always continue to do what works for you. I don't use an oil to seal because it takes time, trial and error, and money to find the oil that works best and I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. But I think I want to try sealing with jojoba oil. I loveeee jojoba or coconut when I prepoo. Coconut oil keeps my hair dark and shiny
Miss Kimberly Cherrell I want to say Thank you so much for this video it has truly changed my hair. As far as ppl saying wash n goes causing fairy knots... i shingle (which ppl hate) but when i feel a ssk i can snip that i strand at the knot... and if you are using quality products w/ oils in them you dont need additional oils to seal in oils that are already in your products...

Great video, you’re hilarious!!! But you dropped some knowledge! “You switch up your draws don’t you? Switch up your hair products too!” 😂😂😂
Love you girl, but my ancestors ain’t have no Cantu and they hair flourished I think it’s these “special” products that’s a hoax.
I love you too but our ancestors also didn’t consume 90% of the things we do nor did they care about poppin curls. They also could care less about split ends or dry hair. If you have what you need to grow your hair that’s great but i didn’t once in this video talk about “special products” i spoke about techniques and switching products. This is what worked for me. If you don’t agree that’s cool but this is still what worked for me 😊
@@KimberlyCherrell You did say there were a need for 3 different variations of leave ins, shampoos, all that. 🤔
@@KimberlyCherrell That's probably what she's talking about
I thought the same thing I remember wearing my natural hair and just using afro sheen hair grease and water
I agree! We can make our own shampoos and moisturizers with ingredients from the grocery and health food store, and it costs wayyy less
I can’t deal with you !!!😂😂😂 thanks for the tips sis!
When I get my RUclips channel together we have GOTS to collab! I feel like our personalities will mix effortlessly 😌
Excellent video!! Thank you so much for sharing this information with us giiiiiirl!! 😍
Love the video however, i disagree with you about switching up hair products. I feel like you should continue to use the same product in order to see results. It’s also very common to see products that say to use it for at least 3 months and/or longer in order to start getting the results you want. So if you keep on switching up your products then your hair is not getting use to it and then the product is not as beneficial. I am also speaking from experience because i was a product hoarder a few months ago.
Sierra Ann Cool 😎
What she meant was like using the same products for your hair after awhile eventually your hair will become use to it and won't work so not switching out every few months only maybe like after a year or 2 switch out one of your products. Honestly never know🤷🏽♀️🙂
What I gathered was she saying just switch it up sometimes and don't be loyal to just one brand forever. I switch up mine every 2-3 months. I have 4 sets of different brand products.
Sierra Ann I agree. She caught me off guard when she said that lol.
@@amiya7994 Right on
I love you... I NORMALLY CAN TELL WHEN SOMEONE IS OVER DOING IT BUT I LAUGHED THE WHOLE ENTIRE VIDEO!!!! NEW SUBBIE HERE💕🙌🏾👏🏾🤗
Lol there is a thin line bw being genuine and over doing it so i get it! 🤣
What if you can't afford having 3 types of leave-ins creams?
You don't need to. What she's presenting are options. Take away what works best for you. Get 1 good deep conditioner and 1 good leave in. Be consistent with wash day
Try Aussie, Frutis:Sleek & Shine Garnier Wholeblends leave in conditioners they are cheap and can be found at most regular grocery stores. They work pretty good for me (I have thick low porosity hair)
Or when your leave in runs out, you could buy a different one. But to be honest, it's cheaper to buy in bulk. Personally, I set aside money for Black Friday and spend no more than $200 on all my hair products for the next year. This allows me to buy high quality products at discounted prices instead of buying whatever is cheapest every week/month. If I want to splurge on something new that I just have to have, it comes out of that budget.
Alexandria East I don’t live in USA , we don’t have an actual Black Friday , maybe some stores give a 25-30% off , but thanks
Lemi J they don’t sell Aussie where I live ( Curaçao,Caribbean island) , but will try garnier , tnx

Im definitely going through that ugly stage! Lol.
6 months natural.
Got it all shaved off at the barbershop June 2018.
Low manipulation is definitely key.
I braid my hair every 6 weeks (box or micro). I moisturize it every day (jbco, blue magic hair grease and Cantu shea butter).
Greasing the scalp is definitely key.
As soon as it was long enough to plait, it has been plaited up.
After 6 weeks, i remove the braids. I wash, condition, hot oil treatment and leave in conditioner.
Washing weekly was not good for my hair.
It needed to build those oils up.
Can't pass up an opportunity to plug while on here so go to barnes&noble.com and check out my work under Tonya Young #readabook
Banding for the GODS!! Hunnyyy.. YOU GOTTA WHOLE SILK PRESS🤣💀👏🏾
It’s genetics mostly. Don’t fall for the product hype bs
huh? What product hype?
D Sham its consistency (she preaches this) which tends to involve using products. Shes not saying a product grows your hair.
It's neither genetics nor products.... One word- lifestyle! Yup, your hair is a part of your lifestyle, you either treat it well or you treat it badly.
Donna Ible-White genetics and lifestyle are huge factors...
@@beaubeauknows3620 Lifestyle is a huge factor yes. But genetics? Probably not. Let me explain. I use to believe in genetics until years ago I realised that many people within a family may have similar symptoms and happenings not necessarily because of genetics, but moreso because they are all predisposed to the same living conditions (lifestyle). So a daughter, mother, grandmother and great grandmother may wind up with breast cancer or diabetes not necessarily because of genetics (though possibly, but slim), but because of the family practices and traditions- such as how they prepare meals, where they live, how they deal with stress, etc. Think about it. You change your lifestyle and you break the curse!
