I bought a pet fountain like the one all the way to the right of the screen (with the orange logo and the offset bubbler), but it became a real chore to keep it clean--lots of nooks and crannies for mildew to grow. So I’m replacing it with the fountain with the blue top. It’s arriving tomorrow. I already have one like it and it’s much easier to clean (I replaced its white “flower style” bubbler with a straw because those crevices attracted mildew too).
Thanks for the ideas Robbie!
OMGosh Robbie, We just love you so much, so do our little hummingbirds ❤️ Tytyty 😘
You are so welcome! Thank You 😊
Dear Robbie that’s awesome that you keep us posted in the new gadgets we can use on our water fountains!! Yes, I’m as excited as you are!! 🤗😂🤗 Thank you!! 😘🥰❤️
That is a great idea. Thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome!❤️❤️
That's really interesting! Could you charge other things with it, like a phone? Thank you for sharing this, and I love your excitement! ❤😊😊❤
Yes you can charge a cell phone
Hi Robbie how are you? You look great. How’s your vision?
Cool!
Thanks❤️
That's so cool
Thanks ❤
That is so cool! 😎 I get it... use the power bank during cloudy weather or early early morning and dusk when the birds like to come. Then on full blown sunny days, just unplug the power bank and plug in the solar panel. 🌞 Either way you keep the same USB pump...just switch out the power source as needed. 👍😍
I have 6 fountains running in my small back yard, 2 solar I"ve made with kid pails, cups, plates, and now 4 USB pet fountains with power packs I have to keep replacing with re-charged packs, mine only go 2 days. Might be our AZ high temps up to 116, avg 110... power packs are in pencil boxes but still get hot. Anyway, does this new USB solar panel recharge itself while in sun all day so it's running forever? So I don't need to be replacing it every couple of days? Thank you for all you do and great ideas you share with us, I have had fun being creative with these. My hummingbirds drink from my fountains but I've yet to see one take a bath, maybe they do at 5am. Anyway, other birds do, the tiny House Finches get in and splish splash, and drink, and I have 3 types of doves, some sit in the water on the plate. I have a pair of Crissal Thrashers who spend most of their days under my 4 citrus trees with the fountains, drinking water. Also 2 pairs of Gambel Quails with babies now rest in shade under an orange tree, I have seen an adult drinking. I now have juvenile Gila Woodpeckers who drink my nectar from hummer feeders and are drinking water, too. I love my fountains and helping these birds, this summer heat is brutal, they must love the water because before I made these fountains I did not have these regular visitors every day! Thank you!
Hi Robbie! Love it! ❤ Are you still seeing a lot of hummingbirds in California?
Oh Yes! Thanks❤
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy I saw the coverage on the fires! It’s wonderful to know the sweet hummers are still around 🩷
Awesome Robbie! That wonderfully creative brain of yours never shuts down. Thank you for this new idea.
Hope your 👀's are getting better by the day. I see you're wearing your foster grants and UV hat. Take care. ❤
Hi Robbie!
Hi Jackie ❤
I love your videos and have watched for years. My question is how to you keep the water coming out straight? My tubbing is always bent.
@lindanelson298 she uses the jumbo straws to make a lot of her fountains. I also use jumbo straws, and they work so much better than the tubbing, plus they stay straight. I rarely use the tubing anymore.
As jwater answered perfect, straws work great, they are cheap and stay straight. You can get a thin stiff wire to keep your tubing straight use painters tape to tape on the wire to your tubing, or a wooden skewer
You plug the solar panel into the USB power bank and then plug the USB power bank into the pump? That way the sun hits the solar panel to charge the USB power bank while the USB power bank runs the pump 24/7. Is that the setup?
No, you can get a usb solar battery, but you can not use it at the same time you are drawing from it.
Thanks, Robbie! This is so awesome! I learned so much from you! ❤
So you are taking a usb pet pump and plugging it into a usb solar panel, correct?
You're so creative, I ❤it.
Thank you! 😊❤️
Robbie I bought two of those solar USB panels, I’m gonna try it like you did. 😂
I love your enthusiasm for the sweet tweets and caring for them as water is extremely important for all of life, especially in harsh Summer conditions. I am excited and will look at Wal-Mart for the solar power, I just want to know where you get the best pet-fountains and/or pumps. Thanks for showing us all an easier way to attract sweet tweets to our yard and keep them happy.
Robbie you're fantastic ! Thank you !!
We can’t really see when you are so far away from the camera. Also it’s not clear what we are supposed to do. Solar when the sun is out but when it’s not you need power pack not sure what is new.
I don't have full sun all day like you do, so I ended up changing to house power. : )
Oh yes, I got very excited by the solar panel idea
Hi
, sorry had to edit to 10th
I hope your eyes are back! I'm in Agoura Hills and I've been using the portable batteries because I don't have to keep changing the position of the solar panel. But you can be sure I'm gonna check out this new one!
Sounds wonderful! Glad to help, thanks ❤️
Thank you AGAIN for the information. Love it! How are the eyes? please take care and Happy Gardening and taking care if the birds.
hi can you connect solar panel to power bank to keep them charged?
I'm confused. The solar one stores energy to use when there isn't any sun??
@dianepereira1860 I don't know if that one stores energy, but I have some of the round disk solar fountains that store energy, and they have lights. Once the sun goes down, they light up, and the water comes out. Plus, when you take them out of the water, they stop running until you put them back on the water. I bought some of the see-through green plastic glasses at dollar tree and put them on top of the fountains, and used jumbo straws to carry the water up to the top of the glass, which is actually the bottom because they are upside down. The lights filter through the glasses at night, and they are beautiful.
You can use either attachment on the plug, a solar panel or a usb power bank 😊
@@jwater63 I'll look into that. Thanks for sharing! 😊
Tyfs
I had to Google that. 😂
The next step is to find a solar panel that will keep the battery pack charged.
Hi Robbie! Love the new solar panel, understand your instruction completely. Question, do you have to protect the usb/solar panel connection, not the panel itself, from getting wet like you do the battery pack? I live in rainy Virginia so mine would definitely be exposed to moisture. I used to live in So Cal so I really enjoy your channel. Kinda makes me feel like I'm back home. Thank you, muchly!
❤
Why not use a powerbank that has a solar panel itself? I have not tried it (newbie on powered bird baths) but wondering if that would work even better?
For 2 years I have tried the bird baths but I have never seen the birds use it. I would get up early and watch them throughout the day and late evening. I guess my Oklahoma birds like to stay dirty
Hey Guys,
As always thank you for the update. I'm wondering if you are far from the fires? Just checking on you
We are not near any fires at the moment 😊 Thank you so much
There are power banks with solar panels on them too!
I was going to look for a USB solar panel for this very reason! Thanks for doing the research for us!
I still don't have any birds coming, but my garden is very small and new, and I haven't put out a hummingbird feeder yet. Do you think it would be better to start with the hummingbird feeder or start with birdseed for other types of birds? I'm in USDA zone 9b and Sunset zone 14.
And the usb solar panels are now sold out 😩 I just missed it 🤦🏻♀️ Will get later I guess 🤷🏻♀️😂❤️
I live where it gets very cold in the winter. I should only feed the humming birds in the summer, right? They migrate to a warm climate on their own I assume, but I don't want to confuse their cycle
Hi Robbie, so is that solar panel with the USB a new product? Well I guess I will follow your tricks to get more water fountain working and not be changing and charging the battery pack or worse no sun. I will see to it right now. Thank you.
I have made fountains one with electricity and one with a solar water pump I will get one pump with usb because I don’t t have much sun in that area!
I would like to send you pictures you will be able to give me ideas I put a plate on my pots and made wholes
The solar panels come loose, where the cord is connected to the panel. I’ve had three of them do that.
I put out a feeder for the first time. The hummingbirds came to drink right away! I then put out that blue and white (pet) fountain for them, but no visitors for 2 weeks now 😢. Please help. ❤
Where do you buy the fountains? Thank you! ❤
Hard night 60
I bought a pet fountain and it happened to have a round type pump...it doesn't work with power banks. :( I bought it on Ebay and didn't know it had a round pump...it is USB, but wont use power bank. I may donate to a person with a cat.
I have never seen a round pump, but if it had a USB connection, it should run on a power bank. It should be 5 V try another power bank.
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy it is a cylinder. it starts and blanks the power banks (3).
@@KatMac5 first of all do not get rid of the unit just get a new usb replacement pump, but that pump may be faulty
