Love your ideas ❣ BUT...i have to point out to you and your viewers that the filter is very important for nothing but the lifespan of the motor ! Even the solar pumps...they are all the same. That little screen on top of the propeller isn't enough to protect from fine debris that's not viewable to the naked eyes. These will pile up inside where, eventually it will clog and burn out the motor. Where as, with a filter, all ya have to do is clean it out every now and then. Thoses solar kits are great, but i wrap them up in filter sponge that you can buy online. Plus do you really want your living entertainment to be drinking other birds waste ? Another idea, since you're going to do a set up like this, is for the honey bees, By placing lava rocks in the pond, the bee's can have just the right moist spot for them to drink. The rocks must stick out of the water surface, creating mini islands. Some bird also like perching on these.
Any filter removing THAT small a particle would require a three-by-three solar cell to power the pump to shove water THROUGH a hole that small. It's just a bird fountain; rinse it out with hot water now and then.
I just ordered 2 pet fountains and 2 battery packs. To keep the battery packs cool I plan on cutting up an old reflective insulated car windshield shade and make a sleeve for the battery pack to keep it cool. I love to use items in different uses, and I figured so many people contact me they want running water, so I order a few of these to test, and I LOVE THEM. But do not worry, I still love the fountain replacement pumps (I order 3 more myself and they just came yesterday) as with those you can set them up in any way you want, even in just a tray...Thanks
If you have a solar powered USB charger, it's absolutely perfect for this! We have 2 solar chargers (you don't need sun to initially charge them, they're able to power up using an electrical outlet)! Each of the solar USB chargers have 2 ports as well, I think they'd be perfect for these! We use them when we go camping or in case of an emergency power outage usually, but I now have a new purpose for them! Also, we have a couple of the pet fountains in our basement now and they're just taking up space... until I saw your video that is 😉... Originally, we bought them for our cats and placed one on each floor of our house, but they only like the upstairs one, so....😁. Again, what a fantastic idea!

I kept looking at the pet water features and wondered if they could be used. Thank you for showing me how to do so. This purchase will be in a semi near future for the hummingbirds. Each day, I have noticed I have more and more hummingbirds.
Another idea: The actual battery powered ones you can probably get rechargeable batteries, get one for the feeder and one to or more to recharge. Your idea is probably cheaper but not sure if the power bank will survive the heat and sun in summer. Maybe if you wrap or shade it to insulate it. I would bring it in if the temps get in the 90’s plus.
I seen this and got 2. One for the cats inside. One to put out with my other bird baths. Added the glue for them to Pearch. You are the one that started me building bird baths a few years ago. The birds love them. I record them and put on Facebook.

Very clever. Your video inspired me to create a few solar fountains for the deck and while I love them, I still am waiting for the hummers to splash around. Since I am in Georgia I don't have quite the abundance of hummingbirds that you do, but we regularly have some over the summer and especially during their "pre-migration" period. I might make some modifications to my fountains to see how that might change things. Naturally, I just delivered a new fountain creation to a friend who shared that the next day she had hummingbirds! Gotta keep trying. If anyone is curious, I also have a few DIY videos. Thanks for sharing your great creative ideas.

BRILLIANT!!! I live in Missouri, and we have a lot of shade from 80 yr old oak trees. I have bird baths around that the bigger birds love, but any solar fountains only run for about 4-6 hours. I can't wait to get a couple of these and see if my ruby-throated hummingbirds will use them!!

Hi Robbie, my solar fountains don’t work all day in sunny Arizona so I am excited to add the usb fountains. I’ve received the battery packs and discovered they had canceled my pump order. Amazon is delivering 3 pumps tomorrow. Can’t wait to see what I can create. I have many shaded areas where birds feed and they are going to love the fountains. We have cats, so I’m very familiar with this type of drinking fountain. The only problem is that where I live, we only get a few hummers at the feeders……and they come and go, chasing each other out of the yard 😳. It might take a long time for them to appreciate a fountain like this. But even if the hummers don’t use it, I’m sure the other birds will! (We currently have a brood of Eastern Bluebird fledglings, and the parents are giving them the grand tour of all we have to offer❣️)
....I've been bringing in the squirrels with the one I set up.... 🙄 lol.....I did stick a small rock in the opening which made the water bubble up a bit more so....here's hoping the hummers find it and realize how much they'll like it. I couldn't find one of those dish like cascading terra cotta pots like the one you used on yours (I liked that one!) btw...."definitely" better than the solar ones. I tried solar but only get sun for a little bit so it never ran for long. Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas !
I love this. I tried the solar but my balcony only gets early morning sun. Great to run it then but I’m not a morning person so miss seeing it. Lol My balcony is covered. They sell those phone cases for waterproofing also and that might work. They have some at target dollar spot right now. You could put in the power bank and run the cord out of a hole and seal around the cord with electrical or plumbing tape. I was sitting here wondering how many hours you spend washing the numerous feeders and do you do them all indoors or take a bucket out and do bummer laundry once a week or two. How many feeders do you wash approx and how often? I only have one right now and am disabled so wary to add more work but the hummers are territorial here so want another one. I did the solar foundation and just floated it in a ceramic bowl of water and that required occasional washing as well especially in hotter days. Sometimes it was so hot the whole thing would dry out. (Aka I need a deeper bowl maybe). I love the idea of the pet fountain though. My little 8 lb dog prob could use it more but I just give her a bowl of fresh water daily and she’s happy. Lol Thanks for sharing your ideas. The leggings wrap is a cute idea also. With white there are so many ways you can decorate it. I like the idea of placing it in the center of a pot planted with some flowers the hummers love like nasturtiums, petunias or even a hanging basket of fuschias. I just bought petunias this year. I usually plant fuschias for the hummers in hanging baskets but didn’t get there early enough to grab the starts. Sooo I have petunias, a few lobelia and some other small non hummer attractant flower. Good for the bees/insects and butterflies tho. Reminding people to ask around to their neighborhood local free recycling boards so we don’t promote buying more plastic than we need to. 😊
This would be perfect for your balcony, and you could just simply unplug it at night and plug it in when you get up in the mornings so you can see them come. I take in the feeders every day and I wash them inside and then I put them out. Washing them every day they’re really clean. I was thinking the same thing of setting this inside a big basket or bowl with plants all around it that would look beautiful. I love the fountain. It’s so easy to maintain and you don’t have to look for a bowl and everything fits perfect. On the case you said you could get for the power bank I may look into that. When I first saw these pet water fountains on Facebook, I asked if they were suite for outside/ birds and was told,definitely. I was having so much fun making Robbie's fountains I let it pass.

Question: I just got my fountain yesterday and set it up this morning. When you pull the center part of the flower out, do you also have these white plastic vertical pieces sticking up - that are used to snap on the flower center? Are those white plastic vertical pieces OK/comfortable for the birds? I can't see these pieces on your "bubbler." I guess I could try to snap them off? Thanks.

I love the idea. In fact, I purchased one the same day your video came out and I converted mine to Solar because we live in Phoenix Arizona.
We have cats, so I’m very familiar with this type of drinking fountain. The only problem is that where I live, we only get a few hummers at the feeders……and they come and go, chasing each other out of the yard 😳. It might take a long time for them to appreciate a fountain like this. But even if the hummers don’t use it, I’m sure the other birds will! (We currently have a brood of Eastern Bluebird fledglings, and the parents are giving them the grand tour of all we have to offer❣️)
....I've been bringing in the squirrels with the one I set up.... 🙄 lol.....I did stick a small rock in the opening which made the water bubble up a bit more so....here's hoping the hummers find it and realize how much they'll like it. I couldn't find one of those dish like cascading terra cotta pots like the one you used on yours (I liked that one!) btw...."definitely" better than the solar ones. I tried solar but only get sun for a little bit so it never ran for long. Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas !

I love this. I tried the solar but my balcony only gets early morning sun. Great to run it then but I’m not a morning person so miss seeing it. Lol
My balcony is covered. They sell those phone cases for waterproofing also and that might work. They have some at target dollar spot right now. You could put in the power bank and run the cord out of a hole and seal around the cord with electrical or plumbing tape.
I was sitting here wondering how many hours you spend washing the numerous feeders and do you do them all indoors or take a bucket out and do bummer laundry once a week or two. How many feeders do you wash approx and how often? I only have one right now and am disabled so wary to add more work but the hummers are territorial here so want another one.
I did the solar foundation and just floated it in a ceramic bowl of water and that required occasional washing as well especially in hotter days. Sometimes it was so hot the whole thing would dry out.
(Aka I need a deeper bowl maybe). I love the idea of the pet fountain though. My little 8 lb dog prob could use it more but I just give her a bowl of fresh water daily and she’s happy. Lol
Thanks for sharing your ideas. The leggings wrap is a cute idea also. With white there are so many ways you can decorate it. I like the idea of placing it in the center of a pot planted with some flowers the hummers love like nasturtiums, petunias or even a hanging basket of fuschias.
I just bought petunias this year. I usually plant fuschias for the hummers in hanging baskets but didn’t get there early enough to grab the starts. Sooo I have petunias, a few lobelia and some other small non hummer attractant flower. Good for the bees/insects and butterflies tho.
Reminding people to ask around to their neighborhood local free recycling boards so we don’t promote buying more plastic than we need to. 😊
This would be perfect for your balcony, and you could just simply unplug it at night and plug it in when you get up in the mornings so you can see them come. I take in the feeders every day and I wash them inside and then I put them out. Washing them every day they’re really clean. I was thinking the same thing of setting this inside a big basket or bowl with plants all around it that would look beautiful. I love the fountain. It’s so easy to maintain and you don’t have to look for a bowl and everything fits perfect. On the case you said you could get for the power bank I may look into that. This sounds great as I have had such bad luck with the solar ones not working very long.
I have videos on that, they just get a little dirt inside. All you have to do is pop it apart and clean it, but these are really nice.

Question: I just got my fountain yesterday and set it up this morning. When you pull the center part of the flower out, do you also have these white plastic vertical pieces sticking up - that are used to snap on the flower center? Are those white plastic vertical pieces OK/comfortable for the birds? I can't see these pieces on your "bubbler." I guess I could try to snap them off? Thanks.

Hi Robbie & Gary! A simple question: does a rain coming down enter into that basic hummingbird feeder from Walmart? Does it affect the fresh nectar mix that outout earler? I see no fluctuation in the feeder. Thanks a million!!
