Going out, RIGHT NOW, and buying 3 bottles of Kikkoman Soy Sauce. That bottle is iconic and I am gutted that I don't already have one in the house. It was designed more than 60 years ago by Kenji Ekuan and hasn't changed one bit since it began production in 1961. THANK YOU for the great hummingbird feeder design. Sometimes the homemade items are the most successful. It is surprising how expensive the commercially manufactured feeders cost. I once made a seed feeder for the other birds. I used an empty 2 liter soda bottle upended over a plastic gelatin mold, and connected the two with some wire. The birds really liked it. Later on, I bought a feeder that cost close to $10. I hung it in the same location where the homemade one had been. The visitor census dropped by about 50%.

Super interesting! I've been feeding hummingbirds for over 20 years. This is a great idea. Commercial feeders have become expensive, especially for folks like me on a fixed income. I use the same 4:1 ratio as you. Last year I went through 55 lbs. of sugar. I try to keep 4 feeders out at all times. I used to keep 6 but two deteriorated to the point they were no longer usable. The most hummers I've ever had was approximately 60. I say approximately because they move so fast they're hard to count. I finally stood really still on the porch with my camera to my eye until they settled down and took a photo and counted them that way. Still not accurate. If memory serves correct, that year I used around 65 or 70 lbs of sugar. Keep those good projects coming! I really enjoy both your channels.
I remember those days when hummingbird feeders were not expensive - 2 or 3 bucks and made in USA. I still cannot figure out since when they have become expensive - 10 bucks to start with and they are all made in China. Last month I had frequent hummingbirds visitors mainly because my succulents were all blooming (the first time). Hummingbirds love those little trumpet like flowers! I def will try this vid idea to attract more hummingbirds!
Thank you, I made two of these! FYI the wire hanging baskets from dollar tree have a center ring that fits the bottle perfectly! I’ve now got two easy to clean, easy to hang/remove hummingbird feeders for less than $7. Many thanks
Like everyone is saying, you are totally great at explaining each step & showing exactly what you're doing; I'll DEFINITELY be watching for ANYTHING else you might decide to explain 🙂🙂
This is actually really dangerous for hummingbirds.. it makes it so the sugar, water drips in their feathers, preventing them from flying and regulating body temperature and can kill them in hours . it seems like a cool idea, but it’s not.
this video really had everything. Hummingbirds, copper, easy diy crafts, good advice on how to keep things clean, surprising use of soy sauce. I had a very long day to day working in a loud, windowless room and this video really put me at ease. Thank you for sharing your creativity
If you have multiple hummingbirds it a good idea to place feeders on different sides of the house so the dominant male can't see/guard them all at once.
No kidding. One year we had 2 feeders around the corner of the house from each other. One of the males found a spot in the lilac bush where he could watch both of them. Greedy little bastard wouldn't let anyone drink from either one if he could help it. I couldn't help wondering if he was spending more energy guarding both than he would have if he'd just stuck to one feeder and left the other to whoever else was around.
Conk: females can be just as vicious! I've seen one who kept flying in circles bashing another one who refused the leave the perch on the feeder as she just kept drinking the KoolAid. The angered female struck her with an audible noise on each circling pass!
I made this project. I built one feeder to begin; before twelve hours there were lots of hummingbirds fighting for the feeder so I had to built two more feeder for them. This really works, I am sure all those hummingbirds say: "thank you" and so I do. Thank you always.
Wonderful! Love the relaxed vibe, the intelligent design, the non-condescending explanations, and the unapologetic thriftiness of reusable materials. Thank you!
Great video to wake up and watch on a Sunday morning. Beautiful craftsmanship on those copper hangers. I could easily imagine something like that being sold in a big box store for like $50.
@@OrigamiMarie I honestly woke up, thought it was Sunday popped on the home theater PC and watched this vid from bed. It wasn't until like an hour later and I went downstairs I realized it was Saturday. I was too lazy to edit my comment LOL.
I lived in a home in the west suburban village of Westmont Illinois. We bought our house with a large garden. We never knew we had hummingbirds in our area, until I decide to plant about 6, 4 o'clock plants. They have lovely trumpet style flowers that close during the heat of the day but will open when the sun is going down OR in the early morning before the sun gets hot. They release a sweet fragrant aroma that we enjoyed thru our open windows. It was also the invitation that brought us humming birds! Every evening, my husband and I would make a stroll of our ESTATE and we'd see these lovely little creatures all over our plants. It also helped that about 5 yards away, we had a stand of white and lavender Phlox, also an aroma plant they loved. So if you can plant these plants near your feeders, they will attract any hummer that is around. I wish I had known about feeders for them too, I would have gladly attached them to a local tree I had to make them happy. I'm still in the area but in an apartment building for Seniors. I'm getting ready to set out 2 small feeders to see if I can attract hummers. But plants are all important too. So when I get my plants n place, I hope to catch my hummers.
@@Sammy-mp9xn Hi Leah! - Yes, I got 2 adult hummers that were taking turns coming. And then one day, i had a much smaller, slender hummer. It seemed it might be a young adult OR a female. I have my computer within sight of my feeder so on one day, I had 6 visits from the first one that came. Then one day, while I was sitting in my lawn chair on my little patio, reading a book, I spotted SOMETHING out of my right side. When I turned slight to look, it was a HUMMER. I stood perfectly still and it flew right up to my face, about 6 inches away!!! It must have been trying to figure out if I was a giant type of flower .... ha, ha, ha. But then on Sept. 1, the temperature dropped at night to 56, too cold for them. That starts their migration to Mexico and further south in to Honduras and Columbia. I read they can cross the Gulf of Mexico in 20 hours, non stop! They are amazing little birds. I'll take down the feeder in mid September, just in case any of them are still around. Next year, I'm planning to put a second one on a shepherd's hook since I don't have trees. I have enjoyed watching them. One curious fact, they never approached any of my flowers, and I had Bee Balm, petunias, snapdragons and geraniums. But I did see a TON of little bumble bee style bugs that would crawl right in to the flowers. But no hummers. - Thanks for asking. Stay safe.
Wow! Fascinating. Several years ago in Tennessee, I stayed at a home on the mountains that had a beautiful portico surrounding the house on the upper level, and while enjoying the view, we enjoyed watching the hummingbirds feeding. We were very close in distance to the birds and could see every detail. Fascinating. ♥️👍
I thoroughly enjoy your content. Puzzles, shop hacks, renovation, yard work, nicnaks and doodads. It's all great. Thank you for you wonderful contributions to combating entropy
Very good way to repurpose a bottle. And those of us who love hummingbirds too, will probably be making this. I know I will. Thank you for sharing your craft of repurposing, helping hummers find food and wire bending. Have a wonderful day watching your hummingbirds. Be safe , be well.
4 days ago, I made two of these for free for free as I had everything on hand. Works very well. Great idea, thanks. I must say I see a male guarding it so I'll put one on the other side of the house as advised by someone in the comments.
Great idea! I am an avid hummer feeder and always look for easy to clean over cutesy design. Since I am married to an electrician, there is no lack of copper wire. Absolutely brilliant! And thanks for stressing keeping them clean.
You are a great presenter of these instructions. Clear - precise - and your calm demeanor made it a pleasure to listen to and learn by. Thank you. I'm fixing Chinese tonight so I can empty up my KIKOMAN !!
I bought a cheap plastic dollar store feeder and didn't use it once . It drained itself in about 3 minutes . What a waste of time and $$ . Your idea here is just plain simple and awsum . Love it , and i'm sure you know what i'm building next . Thankyou so much !
Just made it! Saved me $$ as I was about to go out to get another feeder for my house. We have a bully Hummingbird driving the other ones away, hopefully a few of these will do the trick. Thanks a bunch!
Thank you so much for this incredible tutorial! These feeders have brought us so much joy! I made a dozen in February 2022 with 12 gauge copper wire for just under $2.10 each and 10 gauge wire for $2.66 . I put a couple out in my yard and within 2 days I had several little hummers visiting. Now it is June and we have many more birds and sometimes have to change out the feeders daily. Frequently they become impatient and buzz me when I am changing out the feeders. I have gifted many of these to friends and family as well and they have been well received. The feeders are sturdy, aesthetically pleasing, so inexpensive, and hummingbirds really love them! Thank you again.
Great to hear. These feeders are just so simple & effective. Did you know that you can remove the printed logo from the bottles with cider vinegar? Details in the video description. Thanks!
@@pocket83squared I did! It is a great little trick and I removed the logos from all the bottles. We always have apple cider vinegar on hand so I didn't factor it into the cost.
I've been making these feeders, and I use a mini hot glue gun to add 1/2 inch sections of red drinking straw to the holes in the cap. This eliminates any dripping. Just make sure the straws are pointing upwards, and they are sealed well to the cap.
Just a quick thank you for sharing this. So weird that after we added two of these to the two commercial ones at the back of my house we tripled the amount of hummers we have. Adding two more to the front today. I love these little feeders, thank you so much. UPDATED I can't get over how much the hummers love these feeders. It took mine a while to find them but now when I step out to refill they hover at my elbow (I can feel the breeze from their tiny wings) and jump right at in as soon as I hang it back up. I am never buying a commercial feeder again.
I knew I saved that bottle for a reason. I saw this video, I paused it at 36 seconds. I'm back after 7 minutes with my feeder completed and ready to hang. It took longer to search for my 6mm wire than it did to put the thing together. Thank you!!!!
@@TCBLightningBolt No need. The holes are part of the lid/cap pouring design already built in. It will not drip unless tilted so it has to be hung level.
Great idea, Boss! I love watching humming birds outside my window. Occasionally we (in the fall) have a problem with yellow jackets, but by then the birds have migrated. Thanks for the video.
What an enjoyable video, I reside in Cuba 🇨🇺 and England. Thanks to you I will be making a few of these feeders when I return, to Havana, where you do have visits from Hummingbirds, even in the capital. I hope you realise how this video, will bring joy to many of my Cuban relatives. Thank you so much 😊
Excellent project, thank you very much for posting this! I painted flowers on mine using red and purple nail polish (looks great, and I'm no artist!) and made the frame using coat hanger wire, which was harder to work and not as pretty as your green clothesline, but I had it on hand. Your video is perfect as I was searching for DIY feeder ideas after learning the hard way, from putting out my first feeder, and as others have said, how jealously possessive one little rufous couple can be! But I also didn't want to break the bank with expensive feeders, as I don't care for the cheap plastic ones. And wouldn't you know it, my boyfriend had just finished off the last of the soy sauce. Must have been fate! 😄
Excellent video tutorial! Just what I was looking for! (after quickly viewing 3 others that weren't exactly what I was looking for) Thank you! December 2023
Oh my, how I love hummingbirds💞 Living in Colorado & Missouri, I always had feeders out for them! Here in Texas, I have yet to do so. I would love to make these! Thanks for the great video❤
Oh my goodness! You must be a genius!!! What a clever idea- and simple construction and it absolutely accomplishes the job! Thank you for teaching me/ us how to make this feeder. I love it!!!! Stay safe and blessings to you!
I did not think hummers lived here until just for fun I put a feeder out. Wait a bit. They will find you especially if your area grows flowers. I saw my very first hummer at Mt Lemon AZ.
Thank you for a great idea and really good, clear and complete instructions. You just boosted sales of Kikkoman soy sauce by a ton, that is if they don't do something stupid like change that bottle. It wasn't my brand or anything I use that often but I just added a bunch of bottles to my store list for this week. This is the best feeder I have ever seen and I can't wait to make them. Kikkoman needs to sponsor you.
Thank you! These work really well. And don't worry about the bottle; it's become the standard. Oh, you can remove the label with vinegar. Details are in the description ;)
This is such a lovely hummingbird feeder. I want to make it but I cannot find that kind of bottle in my area. Which other product comes with a cap like the Kikkoman?
Beautyfull recording of the name giving "humming" sound at the end. Awesome. Here in germany we know them only from books or documentations. I'm a little bit jealous. EDIT: I must correct myself. We have a similar little bird here. Here he is called "Eisvogel" which literally means "Ice bird". The scientific name is "Alcedo atthis" and in English it is known as "common kingfisher".
Robbe902 We also have kingfishers in northern Michigan in the USA. The ‘hummers’ as we nicknamed them, are quite a bit smaller than the kingfisher. They are amazing to watch. They say they come back to the same place every summer. Ours will come and hover by/in our patio doors and ‘look ’ for us, hovering there. That’s when we know it’s time to get the feeders up!😄
@@littledabwilldoya9717 mine will dive bomb me if I walk across the yard. I can make the squeaky noise. When kids little I would make it if I heard them squeaking in a tree. They come out and look for a minute.
Yes! If you're in the U.S. put out a feeder! They are more likely 'rare' in the central portion of the country, but they'll be glad to spot your feeder. Put one out this summer - fall, and then spring for the migration periods. If they spot it they'll be back the next year.
Ha! It can be a full-time job! Especially if you have squirrels and a birdbath. We have a nest of Junco peepers under our porch right now, and some Bluebird peepers in the box on the grape arbor--so bird-wise, it's been an eventful spring.
WOW what a perfect project for the Hummers. My contribution to keeping ants out of my feeders is using a dab of Tanglefoot on the hook of my regular feeders. For those not familiar with this product it is basically Pine Tar ( super gooey and thick) which I spread in about a 2" ring around the base of my fruit trees to keep crawling bugs out the trees. Thanks for sharing this awesome re-use of bottles, I do have a couple in my stash that now have a worthy new purpose. I'm a new sub today, Cheers : ))
Using sticky, goopy stuff around birds is not a good idea. It can get on their feathers and they can’t remove it, which means they can’t fly. Using water is a much safer idea.
@@JanisK1953 Janis It won't take much to cause an ant to change there mind and look for other things to eat. I have used the Vaseline treatment for over 20 years it works first time every time. Jake.
Great instructional video! I love the fact that it encourages reuse of the soy sauce bottle to reduce waste & inspires creativity by creating your own hangers. Thank you!
I don't think I've ever seen a humming bird in my area. I know there are some varieties that live in Florida, but I think my location might be a bit too urban for them. Now, if you come up with a wild iguana feeder, or a loud neighbor silencing device that won't get the cops involved, that'd be useful here.
After watching your video, the next morning, I went out to buy a bottle of soy sauce (dumped the sauce into another jar) and made one. So easy and I'm excited to try it out. There are lots of hummingbird living in the tree outside my window. I used a orchid support wire and that is very easy to bend. Just used my hand. Perfect size too! Thank you so much because I love my darling hummingbirds.
Absolutely amazing!!! Great idea!!! I libe in México and around here Its hard to find a bird feeder in stores, but The soy sauce we do have it!!! Will start making one right away
I love your idea!. Another means to hang the soy bottle is a suction cup attached to the top of the bottle. I did not have any copper wire hanging around the house. But I did find a suction cup. This allows the soy bottle to hang perfectly perpendicular to the ground. Thanks for your idea. Regards, Alan
I have all the supply’s to make the original one that you posted, I’ve just never been able to drill the glass bottles, definitely going to give this a try tomorrow! Edit: gave it a try and end up making 3 of them, I also really hated the label and found that if you soak a paper towel in apple cider vinegar and wrap it around the bottle and let it sit for a day or two, you are able to wipe the label off, if some is still stuck on wet the bottle and scrape the label with a razor blade

Could you somehow make a hanging bird bath or feeder? I love both humming and regular backyard birds I would love to see something like that your really talented at making stuff c:
Simple and elegant, not to mention cheap. I quit feeding nectar because the commercial feeders are so hard to clean and full. I make chain mail so have all the tools and wire. Think I’ll head to the dollar store for cheap needle nose though. 😄. Thank you so much!
60 years ago my Mom taught me how to clean a bottle by using tiny pebbles and some dish soap and shaking the bottle until clean. The stones act like a bottle brush.
zippy11455 ice cubes and salt will also work. Used to use that to clean the Bunn coffee pots when the coffee got dried and scorched in the bottom of the carafes.
Gosh, I would be afraid pebbles would break glass...You've not broken anything in all those 60 years? If not, I'm impressed! Still though, I believe I'll stick with my uncooked rice grains & soap & water.
Thank you SO MUCH for *NOT* having music while you are talking!! Or any music at all. It's not only a pleasure to not have to adjust the volume after some piece of loud whatever initially blares through the speakers but then again when someone starts talking ABOVE THE SAME NOXIOUS MUSIC. WE DO NOT NEED MUSIC on every freakin' video ESPECIALLY the ones that are instructional. It's a BONUS for those who are hard of hearing too!! Thanks again. I watched this video because I have a very old (probably "vintage") Kikko bottle that sits empty way in back of the cupboard. I'm definitely going to give this a try!! Another bonus I need to mention is how thorough and encouraging you are in this video. I'm going to check out what else you have to offer!! If they are like this one, I might be making all kinds of nifty things I never thought of doing. :D
I think my only problem is the hummingbird fighting other hummingbirds for the food. I don't have something this amazing though! And when I put two feeders out the same hummingbird tries to fight for both feeders. lol
I've seen the in Seattle, Washington (they visited my scarlet runner bean flowers) and in Northern Minnesota (my grandparents have a hummingbird feeder). They are in a lot of places!
This is great! I don't like most feeders because they are hard to clean. This soy sauce bottle is so much easier to clean, and your hanger ideas are awesome! Thanks for sharing!!
I love the last couple seconds of this video. The birdy takes a good long drink then plunks down on a branch for a rest. Much like I do plunk down in a comfy chair for a bit of a snooze after lunch many a day!
Great video. Thank you! You can take the yellow painted label off of of the bottle by soaking a paper towel with apple cider vinegar. Just wrap the bottle in the wet vinegar paper towel and put it in a ziplock bag. Leave it in the bag over night. The paint will wipe right off of the bottle with the wet paper towel the next day. No scrubbing is even needed.
You Rock!!! No more cheesy expensive feeders !. I live in the high desert in southern Colorado and from late April through early October they wage a territorial war on my feeders. The size is perfect with these smaller bottles too. The larger feeders tend to ferment when they aren't maintained and we don't want a flock of drunkin hummers pokin around after hours. This is the perfect size because when I see one empty I cook up a new batch. No waste, they finish it before it turns into vodka. Just tuggin on your leg ha. Great Idea, Thanks, really thanks. James

Last month I had frequent hummingbirds visitors mainly because my succulents were all blooming (the first time). Hummingbirds love those little trumpet like flowers! I def will try this vid idea to attract more hummingbirds!
Not to detract, but the 99 cent store and dollar stores re have very good feeders. I use those with great success.
John Conklin Watching them fly back and forth to have an air battle is half of the fun of putting up hummingbird feeders.
Mama Dragon -
Conk: females can be just as vicious! I've seen one who kept flying in circles bashing another one who refused the leave the perch on the feeder as she just kept drinking the KoolAid. The angered female struck her with an audible noise on each circling pass!
GRACIAS GRACIAS GRACIAS ❤️❤️❤️😇🙏🇨🇱
Probably one of the best instructional videos I've seen. Your handmade feeders will inspire me to build vs. buy my feeders in the future, thanks.
Thank you! This was beautiful and I appreciate your kindness to these little creatures.
I made this project. I built one feeder to begin; before twelve hours there were lots of hummingbirds fighting for the feeder so I had to built two more feeder for them. This really works, I am sure all those hummingbirds say: "thank you" and so I do. Thank you always.
Love this video, perfect timing too. Everyone is sitting around trying to think of a good project, and Boom! great project. Thank you
Great now soy sauce wont even be on the shelves haha
I've been on vacation for a week and you had me worried for a moment there that I had lost a day!
Your home seems so Beautiful.🌺🌺🌺🌺
Did you ever attract your little hummers?..
This is gonna be a great craft project for kids at summer camp. And yard sales.
I thoroughly enjoy your content. Puzzles, shop hacks, renovation, yard work, nicnaks and doodads. It's all great. Thank you for you wonderful contributions to combating entropy
That is, until all these doodads start to fall apart! Thanks ;)
@@pocket83 I look forward to the hour long ramble about it :p
And I got the entropy joke btw ;)
Very good way to repurpose a bottle. And those of us who love hummingbirds too, will probably be making this. I know I will. Thank you for sharing your craft of repurposing, helping hummers find food and wire bending. Have a wonderful day watching your hummingbirds. Be safe , be well.
I cant believe I was about to spend $30 on a basic hummingbird feeder. 😳 I can make these in no time. Thank you 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
4 days ago, I made two of these for free for free as I had everything on hand.
I'm amazed at how easy you make this look.
That is fricken awesome. Beautiful
because it is
It is! The harder part if just being creative, but that's not a problem either!
I bought a cheap plastic dollar store feeder and didn't use it once . It drained itself in about 3 minutes . What a waste of time and $$ . Your idea here is just plain simple and awsum . Love it , and i'm sure you know what i'm building next . Thankyou so much !
I literally have tons of Hummers!
I am definitely going to make these!
Thank you for this video! I'm very excited !!
Genius! Thank you SO much for this brilliant tutorial and for the clear instruction without noisy music in the background. A gem!! 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💕
Thank you! I would have never dreamed of this on my own. I can hardly wait to try it!
PRETTY COOL STUFF ! THANK YOU ! BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS ON YOUR JOURNEYS ! ENJOYED !
I've been making these feeders, and I use a mini hot glue gun to add 1/2 inch sections of red drinking straw to the holes in the cap. This eliminates any dripping. Just make sure the straws are pointing upwards, and they are sealed well to the cap.
Great idea! I really enjoyed learning how you built these - and you have a great "tone". Thank you.
Do you have to drill holes in the lid for the hummingbirds?
@@TCBLightningBolt No need. The holes are part of the lid/cap pouring design already built in. It will not drip unless tilted so it has to be hung level.
Great idea, Boss! I love watching humming birds outside my window. Occasionally we (in the fall) have a problem with yellow jackets, but by then the birds have migrated. Thanks for the video.
When do they migrate?
Jane Knight sometime soon after all the flowers are gone in my area, take a look here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hummingbird
Oh my, how I love hummingbirds💞
Living in Colorado & Missouri, I always had feeders out for them!
I want to make some. My Mom loves humming birds and I look forward to making these for her. Thank you. She will thank me because of this video. :-):-)
Great ideas, great respect for living things, great life! Live long and prosper.
Great video, I would absolutely make this amazing hummingbird feeder if we actually got hummingbirds down here
I did not think hummers lived here until just for fun I put a feeder out. Wait a bit. They will find you especially if your area grows flowers. I saw my very first hummer at Mt Lemon AZ.
lovely thoughtful project, I didn't know so many people feed hummingbirds. thank you for the idea.
What a great idea! And recycling too. I can't wait to make this. Thank you for sharing your bright idea and excellent tutorial.
TY for a fine lesson. Even with a shop full of tools, there is always something to learn,
We all sure do love our Hummingbirds!
God Bless!
@@pocket83 Wash the inside of the bottle with diluted vinegar in water and that will keep mold (black spots) away. Rinse after cleaning.
This is such a lovely hummingbird feeder. I want to make it but I cannot find that kind of bottle in my area. Which other product comes with a cap like the Kikkoman?
I just found a store that sells the Kikkoman soy sauce in the bottle that you use. Thanks anyway.
We made this, in fact 2 . It's pretty cool! The hummingbirds found it right away. Thanks for sharing your idea.
That’s when we know it’s time to get the feeders up!😄
No hummers in Germany? Then again you have the Eisvogel, i too only know this kingfisher from books, encyclopedias and magazines.
@@littledabwilldoya9717 mine will dive bomb me if I walk across the yard. I can make the squeaky noise. When kids little I would make it if I heard them squeaking in a tree. They come out and look for a minute.
I just went and bought a few dispensers, this is a great idea. Thanks for sharing, it makes the world a better place.
Wish I had humming birds in my area. They're so amazing
😕 where do you live?
If you are in an area that they pass when they are migrating, put out a feeder and you might have a couple of them stop by for a sip or two.
Yes! If you're in the U.S. put out a feeder! They are more likely 'rare' in the central portion of the country, but they'll be glad to spot your feeder. Put one out this summer - fall, and then spring for the migration periods. If they spot it they'll be back the next year.
@@nyima04011 I'm in North Wales unfortunately :'(
Thanks so much for this video. Since being retired feeding the birds has become our new jobs.
BOHO RUSTICA I’ve used Vaseline for that purpose too.
Jake.
@@hipcatwho I use silicone grease far up on the hook away from the birds. Works like magic.
There may just not be enough flowers they like in your area, you could still try this out, even if there's no hummingbirds the bees will appreciate it
LOL 😂😂😂

If you build (the feeder), they will come!
Amazing! You give us the best ideas! I'll have to put on a mask and make a trip to the store but Thanks!
At least you wear a mask.thank you!😷
Wow ... amazing up cycling and double duty helping our hummingbird friends thrive!
Absolutely amazing!!! Great idea!!! I libe in México and around here Its hard to find a bird feeder in stores, but The soy sauce we do have it!!! Will start making one right away
Talk about a fabulous way to up cycle used glass!! I LOVE it!
i watched a vid about Kikkoman history that showed the invention of the soy sauce dispenser. This is more innovation.
Excellent instructions. Thank you. Plus seeing your well-organized workshop was a treat.
I wish I had found this video before I bought a feeder. At least I know how to make more now. Thanks!
That is SO cool. I'm going by the store today and buying soy sauce so I can empty it immediately to fill for the hummers. Thank you
I made it...then sent copies of this to many family. Thank you.
Thanks so much for the tip! I was thinking of painting the bottle but this is another great option.
GooGone will also work, or citrus-based cleaners :-)
@@littledabwilldoya9717 Thanks! More good tips. Really want to make a few of these.

Yeah, so? There's nothing here in this video that's misleading. The method shown is tested and safe; it's just sugar, water, and glass. *** take a moment to consider what you trust from this ASSHOLE!!! if he gives two shits about weather or not the hummingbirds die then he gives two shits about anything and does not deserve the following!!! weather or not his idea is successful means nothing his response to something that relies on our honesty to keep it alive does!
I love this; chic, economical, efficient and artistically crafted. Bravo! I adore these beautiful and sweet passerine jewels of the spirit realm.
really ingenious stuff. cant buy that in a store
My wife loved this project, and wants to save our soy sauce bottles for this now. Excellent video.
Could you somehow make a hanging bird bath or feeder? I love both humming and regular backyard birds I would love to see something like that your really talented at making stuff c:
Samplexity, did you find Robbie and Gary gardening made easy utube. See the Hummingbird Bath Ball easy DIY.
Zippy.....great tip from mom. Texas here.
I use uncooked rice.
And when I put two feeders out the same hummingbird tries to fight for both feeders. lol
You have to place the other one out of sight of the first feeder, such as on another side of the house
I love that all the information I needed was less then two minutes in the video.
I always thought of hummingbird as some super exotic rare creature. Funny how it's a regular domestic bird for some people.
if you feed them they will stay close. where i live they just wizz around at the speed of sound most of the time.
2 bottles a day? You're going to have the fattest birds in the neighborhood :)
This video is an OMG for me! And so many of those bottles have been in front of me at restaurants. Excellent.
Hummingbirds look CG because they fly so weird. Reality is stranger than CG I guess.
I love the last couple seconds of this video. The birdy takes a good long drink then plunks down on a branch for a rest. Much like I do plunk down in a comfy chair for a bit of a snooze after lunch many a day!
I’m so mad, I recycled one of these bottles a few weeks ago
I bet the dollar store has some soy sauce bottles. Or behind a Chinese restaurant
Thank you so much for sharing your bright useful ideas, i will definitely use them !
I love your momentary flashes of data/comedy. Anyone else noticing these 2 frame slices?
I will for sure make a couple of these, our house is just a few feet from the ocean and every feeder I’ve bought rust away, thanks a million!
James
