      I've driven the Taycan. It's terriffic! But for me in California, the 225mile real world range makes it a non starter as a choice. Just bought the entry level 450+ amg line without the hyperscreen. All i can say is i have 0 regrets. Ultinately people need to understand that buying a car is so subjective. To be honest i do not give a darn abt speed and honestly i felt that even with the single motor its faster den a regular s class as i own the s320 as well. My purpose was a confortable luxury family car and this beast did more than that imo. Seats were so comfortable and futuristic as i got the cream color. Changed my wheels to the 21 inch ones and grille to the eqs 53 grille which made it look sportier. Ride was so smooth comfortable and honestly i am not a v8 engine kinda guy either. And tbh being one of the first few to drive it in my country i get head turns everywhere i go. The build quality on my car was near perfection unlike the tesla which has loose ends everywhere and taycan which very oftenly breaks down the latter especially. So ultimately its perspective =) the porshe taycan / etron gts / tesla / bmw were all in my cards when i test drive to find a new ev and honestly none of them could compare to the comfort and experience the eqs could give. Well maybe the bmw ix could but even so the price is way pricier and seats still are not as comfy. Well if you are a family guy or someone who prefers comfort and luxury over speed this wins any sport brands hands down. U can fit 3 strollers in the boot =). A surf board if you want as well. But if you are a taycan kind of guy well obviously look elsewhere =)

  • @Mattandahalfew
    @Mattandahalfew 2 года назад +2

    Hey guys, love your videos. I am a Taycan owner. I have to say that the Taycan has the same "issue" with the variable brake pedal during regen. However, it is much less noticeable because Taycans have no regen paddles. But when using the adaptive cruise control or regen button, it is definitely there. So you are calling out a trend in German EVs broadly - not just the EQS.

  • @Tyler97GSX
    @Tyler97GSX 2 года назад +2

    Guys the brakes you describe are how the car is. We got an EQS 580 at my Porsche dealer and that was the stand out “What were they thinking” aspect. It wasn’t from track testing. That’s how they are. It’s insane.

  • @Divine_Serpent_Geh

    Definitely not an S-class in any stretch of the imagination, in my mind at least. The styling lacks all the grace of the S-class. Why not just make an electric S-class? Seems more sensible, less R&D, no need to include yet ANOTHER model in the portfolio (as if Mercedes needs any more models).
    That said, it’s Infinitely better than a Tesla. This car will actually feel like you spent $100,000.

    • @karlvanginderdeuren4009

      The answer is drag coefficient. S class is not suited for EV in that regard

    • @Wised1000
      @Wised1000 2 года назад +9

      Because an S class cannot fit enough batteries to give it more than a 50 mile range. Futhermore, its drag coefficient, which happens to be a huge factor in highway speed range efficiency, is like a brick in comparison.

    • @Divine_Serpent_Geh
      @Divine_Serpent_Geh 2 года назад +2

      “Efficiency”… it’s an almost 6000lbs pig, how about working on that first. Come on, you guys have to come up with a better one than that. No one interested in an S-class will cross-shop with this thing. Yet another model added to the ever growing portfolio of Mercedes models that don’t sell well.
      Not that I like it, but BMW successfully created a fully electric 7 series. Don’t tell me Mercedes could not do the same with the S-class.

    Rear Steering clarification: In the US, the car was origionally supposed to come with 4.5 degree standard and 10 degree optinal, and some of the first thousand or so pilot build cars only have the 4.5 degree (some seem to not have any at all) but they decided 10 degree would be standard, along with ventiullated seats, before regualar production started but after some of those early builds had already been built. So yeah, a little odd. If your vin ends 2000 or later, you almost certainly have 10 degree, but a decent chunk of the less then 2000, especially less then 1000 vins have 4.5 degree, and a few of them even have a $1300 credit for said missing standard.

    • @Snoetzel87

    Interesting comment on the driver warning; could it be your seating position? From everything I was taught you look far away from the steering wheel and somewhat low. I believe you're supposed to sit close enough to be able to rest your wrist on the top of the steering wheel at a light stretch, and adjust height until your eyeline is around the mid point of the windscreen.

Purchased the EQS580 and must affirm (like all of the new tech cars) you need to use it, spend the time understanding it & in my opinion you will be a pleased motorist. After 4 other EVs from Tesla Model 3 & Model Y’s to Genesis GV60 this car is wow!
    In your commentary, at least compare it to the Model S which is lacking in many ways to this car. Tesla has great tech, super-charging, but after that still not upper level luxury.
    EQS580 has the speed if you need it, the ride comfort & quiet interior with many standard features is superior to many other brands I have demoed. Price, not in my budget….CPO Mercedes most definitely is!
    Braking has not been an issue in any mode from no regenerative to strong to all versions of regenerative.
    Hey Mercedes has been exceptional & their beta AI IS REALLY A HOOT.
    Just another view point, but realize that like most reviewers, your job is to (in a short use case) to describe issues before longer use.

    The issue is these companies are hiring people to design their cars who are not car people. And then the head designers are wearing green and purple suits. All I’m trying to say here is that these companies need to start hiring people who are car enthusiast. who have a background in design and engineering to design their cars ..

    This is the only car in history that has given me legitimate nightmares. That dash made me feel like i was being sucked into a black hole and driving off a cliff at the same time.

    I can wait a while for them to work out the bugs. I'm going keep driving my petrol engine cars until I have no other choice but to buy an e-car.

    Immediately, it looks like somebody told a kid "draw a car". Just a half-orb. And certainly not a Mercedes.

    I don't like how all the new EVs are basically either wedged-shaped sedans, or super-compramised coupe-suvs with a terribly low rear headroom.
    I know we're getting trucks now, but how about a full-size SUV or or true 2-door sports car?
    Everyone's copying each other with their "flagship" ev's
    The Mustang Mach E had the opportunity to actually look like a mustang, (even if they made it a 4-door) but no, it really looks like a Tesla Model 3 with the mustang logo & 3-bar tail lights.

    Feels like a Beta product. Bad driver attention placement, suspension, and why move the brake pedal? Quite the bummer. Is the heads up display at least readable with polarized sunglasses?

    Nothing has gone wrong. Mercedes-Benz has sacrificed a bit of room for aerodynamics.
    But then went ahead and not included a heat pipe. Like wtf. It's not like Germany is a warm place.

    I feel like that positioning of the driver monitoring camera is going to end up in a LOT of used EQS' for sale. There is no reason it cant just be on the A pillar.
