As someone who is fortunate enough to drive these everyday as a technician, I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt the Urus is an amazing vehicle. Driving everyday, it’s great. Driving in the canyons? Absolutely a blast. The 48V system for the front/rear sway bars, specifically, make it feel like it isn’t 5000lbs+. Kept up with an m2 in the canyons, so there’s that.
I also live in LA, and yes, for a very high end vehicle, they are everywhere here -- I feel like I see at least one every day. Just today for example I saw two brand new ones with temp plates within 10 minutes of each other.
RDB LA has multiple in their shop at all times. Frequently getting body kits, huge wheels, and other tasteless mods. This car is objectively amazing but is unfortunately made to appeal to those kinds of people.
@@realitykicksin8755 Blazers and Suburbans were called SUV's in the 70's, and yes the LM002 IS an SUV and was called that in period. Go read all the reviews from the 80's about it.
In a way I wish more companies would make certain features options instead of having them standard, but I also agree it's kind of crazy that a $200k+ Lamborghini SUV doesn't come with radar cruise standard.
Hi Matt and Zack Thanks for all the great content and the podcasts have been on fire!!! I know Matt had the cayenne turbo GT recently, can us car nerds expect to hear a back to back comparison in the near future ? Got to say looks wise I prefer the cayenne coupe out of all the coupe-styled suvs.
The Urus is a fantastic SUV/car/vehicle. We drove one as lead car for a fun drive for local super cars and sport cars and when those were being piloted by average enthusiast drivers, the Urus was able to set a pace through the backroad twisties and on the interstate they were all happy to follow. Combine that with massaging seats, backseats, and cargo room and it really is hard to beat…if you have the money.
I know circumstances dont always allow, but i love the two takes!! Im definitely not the target market but i more than one a week in Michigan and almost never other lambs. Neat to see! People up here seem to like porsches and ferraris
So the acceleration, top speed, braking, and skid pad is "identical" to the C8. Yet the C8 clocks a 20 second faster ring time. I'm not knocking this, it's obviously an amazing vehicle for its size, but it's not quite hanging with the C8 as the numbers imply, it's closer to a C6 z06. Def. sounds awesome for an SUV, so hats off to them on that one. I can imagine all the celebrities down in LA trading in their G-wagons for one of these, haha.
maybe I missed you guys talking about it, it looks like they put just as well bolstered seats in the back as they did in the front so while you're carving the canyons with the whole family everyone is not sliding about as badly which I think is a nice touch instead of just 3 row seating in the back.

First question I can’t answer. Second question, it completely depends on whether it’s worth $100k to own a Lamborghini (the head turning, cooler looks, louder exhaust) plus its slightly better performance-wise. I think the cayenne turbo gt will destroy the urus though, if you don’t care about the lambo badge.
I have Akrapovic on mine (Verde Mantis pearl capsule) and it makes it sound really, really good. Matt is right - it is more fun than a lot of story cars. Mostly due to the 48 volt suspension tuning.

I got to ride in one of these on a sighting lap during my trip to Las Vegas Motor Speedway and OMG it defies the laws of physics. The sheer acceleration and braking power of this machine is wild. The driver would approach a turn and I'm thinking OMG we're going to crash this thing just slams on the brakes and turns in and boooom back on the power.

there is certainly an argument that by making it "worse" with a V10 or V12 from one of their sports cars, it would be a better "lambo" but I think the people buying them don't actually care and would rather it performed better.
@@TheSmokingTire, a little insider info--Lamborghini was actually looking at using a long-stroke/smaller-bore version of the Huracan/R8 V10 with lowered compression, milder cams, etc. (Longer engine life and better oriented towards SUV duties) sort of like what was done with the V10 S6/S8 (though those V10s had the same bore/stroke sizing as the R8/Gallardo). Power would have been in the mid 500hp range with a redline of 7000-7500RPMs and a slight increase in torque over the Huracan engine (though, notably at a *MUCH* lower RPM and with a much flatter curve). There were several major problems: packaging, weight, emissions/fuel economy, and towing capacity. The turbo V8 could do virtually all of these better while having a more competitive power/torque figure for the segment and substantially reducing development costs since the engine was already I production. However, I definitely think a N/A V10 version would have been more "Lamborghini" of them.
you guys get insane cars in california, in portland, I have not seen a lamborghini urus on the road ever, We do get a lot of nice s classes and 7 series sedans though. My neighbor owns an alpina b7 and my other neighbor owns an rsq8
@@97MrBlues rotors were required as well as pads. I don't think you know how expensive carbon ceramic brakes are, i've heard of GT3s with PCCB having 14k+ brake jobs when rotors need to be replaced.

I would say that it's all about personal preference/ pricing, it's almost as if they make different trim levels. Do you want to keep it lower key with an RSQ8, get your Porsche fix with a Cayenne GT, full showoff/footballer mode with the Urus or go full price and class it up and get a Bentayga W12? Basically the same underpinnings (I'm sure the Bentley is the most divorced from the lot) but each has their own flair - I would personally never want an on-road oriented SUV - but to each his own!
@@ericvardin5304 turbo s yes. The turbo GT is even more suped up. And given it's tuned by Porsche, they've gonna save the best mapping for themselves which they have done. Yep they all share the same chassis however it's not as simple as you pay more you get more since each one is catered to a different market. I prefer the Porsche since it's most performance oriented/mental. If you're getting something silly like a super SUV, you might as well get the craziest one. Porsche just made theirs that.

That was true the first year. You had to option the "Full ADAS Package," but that is standard now.

Like with the Cayenne and or Panamera diesel for Porsche, if this can keep Lambo in business making poster cars, its a very welcome device.

I wish they made this a wagon off of the RS6 avant instead of an RSQ8 varient.
