Je-sus Wept. What a voice. This woman is a national treasure. How on gods green earth is this not a way bigger thing!?
His name was NEVER Jesus,..................His name is and always will be Yahusha / Yahuah ! Get it right
Jeshua.... YOU get it right!@@maxfieldblue
What a timbre , haunting and magical. This woman and her magnificent instrument have held me in awe since the early 90s
I really thought she was Irish or singing an Irish ballad. Perhaps a rebel ballad.... particularly one verse.
But the voice! Oh my. So beautiful
I believe this is preformed in the English style
Her voice is that of an angel here on earth. Let us give thanks to God for the gifts he gives us through the warmth and joy Mary gives with her beautiful voice in songs she sings from her heart and soul.
Stumbled across this by accident. What a find. Beautifully done in every way.
This woman has a beautiful voice. Truly beautiful.
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever listened to. These are the lyrics:
This morning early I walked on while my darling was in a dream
Last sweet days of summer bloomed and dressed the trees in green
Then soaring high in the gleaming sky from far across the bay
Came a fearsome roar from a distant shore at the dawning of the day
Then I called my men to follow me knowing well that the view was dim
Though tired and worn, how they fought all morn' as time was closing in
And my heart was sad though sore with pride for brave lads all were they
As the angels fly, how they climbed so high on the dawning of the day
But the edge is moving nearer now inside the fading sun
And calling, calling out to them my brothers, one by one
But only dusty silence sounds the ashes float away
As the twilight ends and the night descends 'til the dawning of the day
Forgive me love, I'm going now so very far away
When darkness falls, only think me near and do not be afraid
And please don't grieve when I am gone abide in what remains
'Til the shadows end and we meet again on the dawning of the day
For when shadows end, we shall meet again on the dawning of the day
Mary Fahl - The Dawning Of The Day Lyrics
Thank you so very much.

Thanks for this, haunting lyrics
Thank you Maria, you are beautiful, it is beautiful 🇮🇪❤️❤️🍀❤️☮️🚀
She's incredible right up there on my list of favs with Eva Cassidy, Loreena Mckennitt, Patty Griffin.
I'm defined may add the name of Annie Haslett of Renaissance
I am an American soldier, retired now. I did many mission in 24 years of service and my little wife raised our kids, worked when she had to and was at my side when I was wounded and in several accidents over the years. She has M S now and can barely walk but she is so much tougher than I ever was. God Bless her and her friends.
Bless you all!
What a voice.... takes you away to a better place just for for a while...so soulful, a gift and so grateful that we get to share it.
We just commemorated 9/11 and this song means more today then ever!
Maureen Morris. This song and 'If this is goodbye' specially written after 9/11 by Mark Knopfler as a tribute to those lives lost, with the seconds ticking down.
On the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month. We will remember them.
Sweet Jesus. This is soul searing.
I remember these chills from when I first hear Clannad!
Love you, baby-girl!
How can this only have 300 k views. It is magnificent!
The voice of an angel - sung with such emotion, it reduced me to tears. This is how that beautiful song should be sung.
There are those rare moments when the gifts of others compel you to words, but none of them can ever do justice to what has been given.
buitifull
I've been trying and failing for over twenty years.

my play list
I still cant listen to this song without tearing up....
I am covered in chills, and on the verge of tears. Mary! Mary. How have I never discovered you before? You have a gift from God, and there is no way to deny it.
What a stunning voice. What a stunning artist. What a stunning woman.
Next time someone asks you, "do you believe angels exist?", show him this video, please.
Exquisite. As always, thanks Mary Fahl for all your amazing talent and brilliant music!
This voice, the nineth world wonder of this little woman. I go on my knees Mary.
The tone of Mary's voice and the plaintive quality reminds me of trips to the UK.
I just left a very intimate Atlanta concert venue where I was amazed and very moved by Mary Fahl.....the entire night was wonderful...she set up every song selection telling her reason for singing it....then delivered so much of her self and made you feel the emotions in each one....What a tremedous talent, wonderfully feeling spirit, and then there is het phenominal voice....I have not kept up since OP....I am so glad that my brother has, and bought me a ticket
Mary is a gift from God for all of us. I go way back to when I first seen her with October Project at the TLA in Philly many moons ago. God Bless Mary.
The Dawning of the day is the name of of an old Irish air “ Fainne gear an Lea” The music was written by Irish harpist Thomas Connellan in the 17th century and was published in 1847.by Edward Walsh. It later became popular in Ireland with the word of the poet Patrick Kavanagh.called Raglan road..The music is also connected with the Irish melody “ The rising of the moon “ used by Irish Patriots .
it was the 1600's
Great info but Rising of the Moon is a different tune altogether.
@@raoulduke344 not rising of the Moon put dawning of the day (1600's)
@@bigjohn697791 The OP said Dawning of the Day was written in the 17th century. You said it was the 1600s and I pointed out that the 1600s was the 17th century.
The Rising of the Moon comment was meant to be a reply to the OP.
Hi Raoul Duke I should have said that the rising of the moon tune was inspired by the Dawning of the day.I thank you for you comment and wish you well.
Beautiful voice and rendering.
This is so beautiful, you leave me in tears. It has been a tough time lately and this beautiful song hits my heart as I am sure it stirs the soft Southern Spirits that lay on the battlefields. The blood of my ancestors fought through this battle for freedom. I feel them flow through me ad I feel deeply saddened and connected to them all these many hundreds of years later. A beautiful, haunting voice from you Miss Mary. Thank you.
Let’s hear the “Jan. 6th Choir” top THAT!!!
Dear God! I didn't expect this. I came here looking for the tune 'The Dawning of the Day' and now this. I'm in tears. How could she do this to me?
Mary is a angel, this voice is a gift of God ,is so sweet, powerful, magic, like no other, love it ,great Mary Fahl
I have had the pleasure of seeing Mary in concert many times both as a solo artist and a member of October Project. She is always gracious, humble, and engaging in her intimate shows and this song never fails to bring the audience to tears. Her sincerity is evident in the songs she writes and those she picks from other artists (check out her stunning cover of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon). Both Going Home and this rendition of a classic Irish tune (with her lyrics, as noted by other commenters) are sung from the heart and serve as tributes to veterans and fallen firefighters. She is a beautiful person with a special voice and a big heart.

Same here...amazing voice.. a mazing woman!
Whenever I think about what happened that day, as much as I feel grief for those who lost loved ones, I also feel a terrible, terrible rage at those who did that act, the ideology that drove it, and those who choose to agree with it. Almost 20 years later, America is still retaliating...and I am glad we are. People who deliberately murder innocents and laugh about it have no place on this Earth. May they get exactly what they deserve.
Beautiful song, beautiful singer; and those Irish blue eyes!
Oh, how this appeals to my melancholic heart! I cry. I've created a lead sheet for it, to sing for myself. But, I can't get through it without bursting into tears. And, I keep coming back to hear Mary. It's so sad. Yet, it touches me in some kind of uplifting way. Thank you Mary for such a beautiful tribute to those brave lads.
" God Bless You Sir " 🙌 🙏 ❤.
Beautiful George. Take care
Beautiful song make me cry to happy new year to u all
Mary sings from the soul and our hearts urning of acceptance and place with each other!
yearning
I listen to this tonight in memory of Lieutenant Howard Bischoff, 58, and firefighters Robert Leaver, 56, and Daniel Heglund, 58. I read that these three brave men, who were on duty at Ground Zero during the 9/11 attacks, died of cancer within hours of one another this past Monday (22 September 2014). God bless them and their loved ones.
Man oh man! What a beautiful voice...She is just like an Angel...
Heartrending. Leaves one in silence.
The voice of this artist is one of the most beautiful I've heard in my life, spectacular
A beautiful song and a beautiful lady.Happy to have found this.x
Do you know Raglan Road by Luke Kelly?
An instrumental version of this tune was used on the TV series “Third Watch“. The series was a fiction about a police precinct, firehouse and a EMT base in New York.. The music was used on episode that recorded the events of 911 and the WTC. Many of those who lost their lives amongst the police officers, firefighters and the MTs had appeared as “extras” on the series.
I have tried over the past eight years to find out what was without success. I didn’t know those words to know I’ve heard the tune in the words I understand poignancy of the words in relation to the event.
To all my brothers and sisters, FDNY and paramedics who lost their lives that day and subsequently on the work of the PILE. May they Rest in Peace🌹✝️🌹
I loved that show and remember that episode well. God Bless .
Tears as big as horse turds running down my cheeks. So beautiful.
She brings me to tears. There is no one on earth with her voice. I am taken aback.
Magnificent, as always... and Mary has such a deep, strong emotion in her voice, that shines all over her face.
One of my top favourite singers ever, all genres altogether. She should be a huge star....
Mary - you are a musical treasure. We are so blessed that you continue to share your gifts with us. This song "Dawning of The Day" is without a doubt one of the best songs of the last decade and a magnificent testament to the brave men and women who lost their lives on 9/11.
This is the greatest song ever sung and written. I don't think I can listen to anything else. My life is complete.
Wow. Angels do exist.
This is a beautiful and powerful rendition. I have as favourite male Irish singer of this song.this version just draws out the powerful emotions along with subtle female touch at the low notes, making an ever more beautiful, powerful and dark sound
Who?
Jesus, how did I never hear this song sung with such a powerful voice. Have to learn this version
Magnificent. This woman's voice and her expressive energy moves me to tears. I'm a singer too. I wish I could sing with her.
An amazing lady with a tremendous voice!! I love her dearly!! So very unique! One of my very favorite voices of all times!!
An incredible voice.
Once heard not gorgotten!.
I like voices in the most common range for women, however it is the Alto range where the richest sounds emanate. Mary's third octave has qualities that Judy Collins never had. Her tone is incredibly fine.
I love her voice. It's unique. It's addictive. It's beautiful.
A note on that: I admire the pretty voices-Joan Baez, Judy Collins-but the voices that grab me are voices like Mary Fahl, Sandy Denny, and Laura Nyro, the women who are singing from somewhere inside the song and from somewhere deep in their hearts.
Oh ffs! Could easily send me to both ends of life 😍😥
the one that grabs me always is (besides Mary), is loreena mckennitt
I get chills of joy every time i hear this awesome song❤️❤️❤️🌟
such a beautiful and haunting voice, goes very well with this song....
My God she has a voice. She came to Texas last year (2016) but I was out of the country and missed her. I won't next time.
Queso and toast from high on life brought me here.... always love a good Irish folk song and always love when they swap around lyrics to the same old tunes.
Mary, you almost made me cry!. Your voice and words are so heavenly.
Heeyy Waterloo farm guy👌😉
@@teaguebrennan2428 Teague -- You know!
Powerful...
Heartfelt...
Heavenly Voice...
Praise God 🙏
I love her rendition of "Going Home" from one of my favorite movies "Gods and Generals." She has a sweet, melodic voice, and has given me another reason to fall madly in love with Irish women. She is a beautiful as Ireland itself.
But she is American ? Wonderful voice.
But the song is Irish? Or at least the original one was? Different lyrics I think
344 firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers and 55 military personnel were killed in the attacks,on 9/11.
“This morning early I walked on

But only dust silence sounds

'til the shadows end and we meet again
On the dawning of the day
For when shadows end,
We shall meet again
On the dawning of the day”
Been listening in awe to this beautiful song - captivating voice and bonnie with it
Mary, I hope it gives you joy and pride how many people are probably having your voice heard at their funerals. So I guess in life and death we get to have a beautiful piece of you for ALWAYS,.. Thank You Mary,............I miss you with OP, xoxoxo K
An absolutely incredible voice.
Great song.
Probably the greatest of a generation
Thank you, what a beautiful tribute to those brave men and women who gave there lives so others may live.
Check out her songs: “Ariel” and “Bury My Lovely” from her early October Project days. Her voice -- exactly the same.
She is in her 60s now, and still gorgeous!!
That voice is unique!
you.... are blessed with an angelic voice as I hear you... what a gift you share with the world Mary... thank you seems so small... WOW
I have been a fan of Mary's since OP and have seen her and her former band live several times...: ) love her rich voice...
Astonishing voice and amazing interpretation.
I apreciate so much you changed the original lyrics in memory of Sept 11th.
Kind regards from Italy.
I absolutely adore you! You are the owner of on of the most beautiful voices, and your expressions are unique to you only. You are so very heartfelt in your articulated expressions of sincerity. You are absolutely heartfelt. I love you!
I feel a bit sheltered not ever hearing of you or October Project. I can tell you that I play and listen to music for hours a day. Your voice and performance art simply stops me in my tracks. I wait for the next phrase, sure that it cannot be as good as the previous and each one is unique and in some way even better. You and Dawning are masterpieces. Thanks for sharing your gift :) Tom
Beautiful Woman with an awesome voice tremendous
What a rare true contralto voice. My absolute favorite female voice. To think she also writes a lot of her own music. A true treasure.
Wonderful, magical! One of my favourite old Irish tunes that nearly everyone and their friends have recorded, but not many memorable ones. I've only ever liked Mark Knopfler singing with the Fureys version before this, but your voice is perfect for it! Thank you Mary, thank you for such a beautiful and dramatic interpretation of this song.
What a luscious voice !
Brings chills.
Beautiful capture of the feeling of the conflict. This song is a masterpiece so haunting!
Beautiful... deep, resonant. Thank you.
That deep rich contralto voice just blows me away every time.
Beautiful voice. Great tune on the Great Highland Bagpipe. Always got a feeling when I played it 🍺🍺
Love you Mary fahl ❤❤
I have always admired your voice. You sing this old ballad so beautifully.
No words, just no words.
When you sing this song it has always tugged at my heart strings. Such a beautiful version, sung by a beautiful soul! Thanks again Mary!
I remember this song being played on the opening of under a blood red sky U2 live at red rocks
powerful
Simply, outstanding, the most magnificent piece of singing I've ever had the pleasure of listening to
Magnificent!!!!!!! Loved your voice since the mid 90's and October Project.. you are a treasure
Amazing version of this song
How beautiful! Feeling chills.
So beautiful, thank you 🙏
Wow is just the only way to express this wonderful song.
She is incredible.
Stunning !
That beautiful voice,
gives me goosebumps.

Beautiful song beautiful voice ☘️💚💚
Magnificent song. Beautiful, subtle arrangement.
