Building a Realistic Race-Spec Demolition Derby Custom Diecast Car - 1975 Dodge Monaco
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 8 апр 2021
- Devil's Details Diecast issued a challenge to build a custom diecast into a demolition derby competitor that met all the specifications to pass tech inspection at a real demo derby match. I chose to take a 1975 Dodge Monaco made by Greenlight that was generously donated to me by David over at TWYCE Diecast to make into my wheeled warrior. Join me as I cut and carve this land yacht into a star-spangled smash-em-up machine. Don't forget to subscribe!
This build uses AK Interactive Worn Effects, MIG Extreme Rust Wash, MIG Ultra Matte Varnish, Milliput, and parts repurposed from a Johnny Lightning diecast car.

Yes! This was what I hoped would happen when I sent this. I knew you would use this casting to its full potential, Chuck. Amazing. Keep your eye out for a package on Monday or Tuesday. Also, thank you for adding “slapdashedly” to my vocabulary. 👍 I can’t explain it, but this is my new favorite one you’ve ever done. The paint and deco is very clever. It all looks cohesive.
Thanks again for the car! It was perfect for this. When Jamie issued the challenge I knew immediately it was time for this car to shine. Thanks again for the kind words, David! I'll keep an eye out for the mail too. 😊
Funny enjoy we at JC's are talking about turning a mopar into a demo derby car haha. Very cool Chuck! Thanks for the shout out!
As long as that Mopar isn't Lilas!
Such a strong paint job! and we love that chain-link windshield!
One might say that, much like the car, those colors...don't run. Thanks for watching, friend!
Another great piece of art Chuck. Another winner. Hope your doing well. Take care my friend.
Thanks, Wade! So far things are going well today and I'm grateful for that. Thanks as always for the kind words and support
That turned out marvelous my friend if you had a little driver and gas that thing would be ready for the demo run! Keep up the great work my friend!
Thanks, Opa! I'm glad you liked it. This was a lot of fun to do and it was a great challenge idea from DDD.
Really liked the pacing and detail on this one (especially the Peacemaker design on the back). Keep up the awesome work and thanks for promoting the merch store 👍.
Thanks, bro! Appreciate the feedback. Thanks for watching
Great build mate 👍
Cheers, Danny! Thanks for checking it out.
That thing came out amazing!!! That looks incredible! Thank you for sharing! Happy hunting and stay safe!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it. Best wishes to you as well
I love this custom
Thanks, Bear!
Dude..... it looks like you could enter that in a real Demo derby.... crazy good
Thanks so much, Dan! I really appreciate it.
I love how this turned out Chuck! I've seen a couple of the builds so far and for some reason, the part I keep liking the most is the signs on top of the cars lol Maybe I've had too much coffee today.
Haha! Hey, as long as you like it, I won't judge which part is your favorite. Enjoy the coffee!
Great build.....The exhaust almost got you....LOL
Tell me about it. Of all the times to use a premium, detailed casting! Thanks for watching, Pete!
Wow that is so cool👍
Well done Chuck
Stay fresh
Thanks, Adam! Much freshness to you as well.
That looks so good! Very realistic! I love it. I like the “imperfections” as it is a beater! Roof sign looks great, love those things, it reminds me of taxis lol.
Thanks! I'm so glad you liked it. This was a lot of fun. Thanks for commenting!
gorgeous Chuck!!!
Cheers, Kristian! Thanks again for the support. Kia kaha.
best berry build I've seen looks ready to go
Thanks so much, Neil!
That is an awesome Look ing derby car.👍🇦🇺
Cheers, Allan! I appreciate it.
And we appreciate your channel and your brilliant customs.
Amazing as always. Great build
Thanks, Jamie!
Ready to race!! Very nice job mate
Cheers, Juan! I appreciate it.
Educational and enjoyable. Every time! Thanks, Chuck. I really like this one. Good luck in the Derby! 🍁
Glad you enjoyed it! I'm not sure if I'm disqualified for being technically late depending on what time zone you're in, but it was still a really fun build.
Great build Chuck love it
Thanks, Roger! That means a lot from a talented builder like yourself. 😊 Thanks for making awesome work that's always challenging me to up my game.
I I I love it!!!!!!! This was the best candidate for this kind of build and you also knocked it out of the Park!!!! If there was any kind of build to do for you truck this was the kind of build and it’s amazing, great job buddy!!! I wish I knew about this build!!! I feel so behind at times😂 if I was going to do this I would done like a Continental or something big like a station wagon
Thanks, Cole! Yeah, this was a really fun challenge. I liked that it had actual technical goals to hit like the internal tank and battery box. I wanted to do a station wagon, but this car from David is absolutely perfect for a demo derby candidate and I've been looking for excuses to do more Greenlights.
This car really look old and beat. It is hard to tell that you didn't dig it out of a barn and put it on a tract. This aid awesome. Well done 👍
Thank you so much! I appreciate it
Awesome build!! 👍🔥🔥🔥
Thank you so much!
Do you happen to know ANYONE who does Pink Floyd waterslide decals?? Man, can’t find them anywhere 😅 thanks!!

Dude... this thing is awesome!!! I love it. Your weathering skills are off the charts and your process of video editing is so good. Great job 👊👍💪🏁
You rock, Jay! Thanks so much for the kind words.
@@DiecastMediaNetwork absolutely, thanks for the awesome content 👍💪🏁

Super job, really like this one.
Thanks, PB! I really appreciate it. This one was a lot of fun.
@@DiecastMediaNetwork the more I look at it the better it gets, really is stunning.
You're too kind. Thank you!
👍 Thx 🇧🇪.
Thanks, Rudi!
Nice vídeo 🔥🔥
Thank you so much!
This Monaco is by far my favorite build on your channel! I’ve always went to the demolition derby as a kid and saw a lot of these big old late 70s and early 80s American cars. Just absolute behemoths ramming eachother. Looks incredible as always! Been rewatching a lot of vids recently!
Thank you! It's one of my favorite builds too. The casting really lends itself to derby builds. Might have to do another.
Fantastic! I just subscribed! This is great...thanks again!
Thanks so much, Danny! I really be appreciate you stopping by.
Nice car 😎👍
Thanks, Dave!
cool build chuck .... i may well be interested in a few sets of decals to make postage price worthwhile
Thanks, Paul! Shipping a letter to the UK is pretty cheap. I sent some decals to Jason and it was only $1.25. Email me what you'd like to do.
Nice job Chuckles. Did You see the one I did for Devil's Details Diecast? Anywho... Love the way Ya made a cop car into a demo car, lol. Creative 👍
Awesome! I'll check it out. Thanks, Cat!
@@DiecastMediaNetwork 😺
This is a deep build. Pretty cool.
You know, you should be wearing gloves while you're working on your builds. Getting dirty with all that metal dust and particles and paints and wearing gloves would even help preventing injuries in case of slippage with a tool. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've slipped and yet minimized injury. Just sayin'......
That's a good point, Carl. Thank you. I do try to be as safe as possible but accidents do happen.
Amazing transformation man!!
Very realistic for sure ... you need to do a "Banger" car from the U.K.
Most are simple stripped cars, but some have very elaborate paint jobs only to be destroyed in the end. Check it out on YT. Great job.
That sounds amazing. I'll check it out. Cheers, sir.
Hmmm one thing you missed is that pole and flag the driver breaks off when his car is not running anymore. Other then that that's a great demo car.
I know what you mean. Surprisingly that wasn't in the rules for this particular derby but I've build a 1/25 scale car with that flag. Thanks, Chris!
@@DiecastMediaNetwork Rules? We don't need no stinkin rules.....
Haha a car that has too much detail sounds strange for someone who is admiring the detail some of these cars have. But yet again out of this world result and editing!
Yeah, in this case it was a double edged sword. Thanks, Luc! Glad you liked the build!
New sub, 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks, friend! Nice to have you here.
wish i had the money
I know. Budget can be frustrating, but you do incredible art already and building with what you've got is a great way to learning improvisation and techniques you couldn't try without restrictions
@@DiecastMediaNetwork right back @ yah brah and the things i learn from you i gotten a little better ! always thank for the inspiration brother !
Helps keep your hands clean too. Don’t you just hate scrubbing paint off of your fingers? Drives me nuts.
True, although I don't consider a day fully seized unless my hands are messy. ;)
What’s the best email to reach out to you?
It's flying valiant (all one word) at gmail dot com.
aw, poor model. :P if the guys at Greenlight knew what you did they'd surely sqirm for a moment. and then applaud.
so it's Devils Details Diecast Demo Derby Dshallendsh? dats a lod of Dee's, davey.
serious, looks great! interesting details all around, and she surely roars thunder. :)
personally I'm not sure if I like to watch demo derbies, all those nice and sometimes, rare vehicles being destroyed... surely most are beyond repair to begin with. but especially the brits run ancient rolls and bentleys and jags and austins, and I keep wondering if there is really nobody wanting them anymore?
but that's just me. don't want it, don't watch, and all that. :)
Thank you! I agree I like the idea of the derby more than the actual practice. Luxury cars often have a very strange and short lifespan before becoming classics again. Rolls and Bentleys are often custom built for a particular client so the touches that make them unique have a limited appeal to other owners. Between that and the high maintenance costs, there's a very select few people that would want a secondhand luxury car and still be able to afford the upkeep. S Class Mercs are like that here. A car that sells for $110k will sell for less than $10k secondhand and then be scrapped after that. It's very strange. That does sound interesting to watch. Never thought of seeing Rolls smashing themselves up.
@@DiecastMediaNetwork the often don't last very long. the frames in the cellar are sturdy like a trucks', but the bodies lack a crash zone and fold up easily.
another problem with these rolls is that if maintenance wasn't done properly the resulting repairs can cost several fortunes, and a buyer's guide from a magazine recently advised to steer clear from such vehicles. maybe that's another factor in them getting demolitioned.
we got a Porsche Cayenne here recently, needed both brake sets, which was over 1200 euros. and a new battery, because the previous one was too tall and slid against the seat (they nestled it underneath the driver seat, can you believe that?) and killed the seat adjustment computer... the door lock was cheap VW stuff, but replacing it took us two days. yes, I can see why luxury cars can become cheap soon.
I’ll buy it off of you for at least $30
Thanks. Afraid this one isn't for sale. I appreciate the offer though.
@@DiecastMediaNetwork do you got others?
I make them from time to time. None available now but shoot me an email and I can message you when I make one that's for sale
