Love that Gérald was a passionate obsessive artist, not just a random designer that struck gold

What a wonderful interview with Mrs. Genta! Thank you so much, AP - and Mrs. Genta! The importance of Gerald Genta's influence on Swiss watchmaking and design history can not be overestimated. Clearly his personality, talent, hard work, family, and community were all part of his genius!

Genta didn't start his career at the dawn of the quartz era, his career started decades earlier at the miniaturization of the automatic in the universal geneve polerotor.
AP was very fortunate that they got the RO design which could have easily gone to PP, VC or god forbid iwc or gp.
Imagine how the RO would have changed the fortunes of say VC.
I own a few Royal Oaks now but until I actually held one in my hand I did not really want one, it truly is a cut above, and the design is truly above the nautilus.

you know GG did a few designs for IWC? it's a shame they were not able to capitalize on them till this day, their evolutions of his designs are terrible. Although the new Inguiner is closer to his design than the models in the last 15 years

Its nice to see some public gratitude for the man who saved AP. Today only his design keeps it relevant. The code 1159 is a disaster, it has no genius, its more a toilet seat than a porthole. Why not try to find another great designer? Ask Martino D'Esposito.
