They want to aquire all sorts of big platforms to gain access to data and hold their monopoly. It's never really about the platform itself, just it's market position
Actually, that's not accurate, they have a lot of money and they can hire the best developers, marketing, consultants, you name it and they can have it, but they can't create a product that already exist successfully on the market, for example they tried Google+ to compete with facebook but they fail, so they was trying to acquire a product already success proved to incorporate it to youtube, that way they will be betting to win and they save as he said the most valuable asset, time...
I am really glad that people with interesting lives are taking to youtube to share their experiences. I was really getting sick of watching a feed full of 'influencers'.

That opportunity cost between holding onto your company and growing it, increasing it's value (along with all the risks that come with that) and selling it at the maximum possible price, or just selling it for still a huge amount of money and having those years to pursue whatever else he wanted.

Its probably better the Google deal didn't work out given Google's track record with M&A. Buy the company, let it run for a year or two and then absorb it into an existing platform. I like the way Amazon lets a company maintain its brand while still integrating with Amazon's services (like Prime).
definitely. google probably would have tried to integrate twitch with this site, youtube. overall, the only two acquisitions google has made that were successful are youtube and android. the rest are usually disasters.

I'm not a huge fan of multi day waits for premier. I've found them to be more effective for 5-10 minute long waits before premiering.
