- I was flying the Tomcat with Arlios as my RIO. Things weren't going well in the stream but somehow we managed to get a very nice flight in at least this one time. This was grabbed from one of my streams so everything you see on here is based off of that, hence the low resolution and such.
Anyway, enjoy the return of Kaiser Kitty!!

And I can never tell if youtube's compression is doing that much (knowing video tech, not that unlikely) or if my tiny little 1080p laptop can't even display that.
Holy crap! Tomcat is one heck of a missle platform. The extra set of eyes on the radar and systems really seems to help with situational awareness.
I don't know WHAT it is about this particular video that has gotten me to watch it 3 times. Is it the cat?

I grew up in the days of SWAT Kats, so imagining a talking cat wearing a WWI-era German infantry helmet dumping AIM-54's from a Tomcat is just another Saturday morning cartoon to me!

@@sd501st5 no it isn't, the RWR installed on the F-14B is the AN/ALR-67 which is pretty 80's~90's and was installed on several other aircraft, including the Hornet.

All went so weill, I want to see some A-A refuel fails and 1 wires.
It's MP not SP. The action is over land in a specific spot so it would take too long to get there out of the carrier and back.

@ralfidude Good stuff man, looks like Arlios has really learned a lot since the last time you posted a video with him in it.
Stupid question/semi favor to ask: Have you upgraded your system at all or is it all the same stuff? Might make a decent/easy vid to update us on what you're running now for hardware since it's still kind of PC Building season and people getting into DCS can kind of use it as a reference point.
I've always had my PC setup in my description for over a year now me thinks.

Which do you prefer ralfi? The Vertical or horizontal scan ACM modes?
Personally I prefer the horizontal scan. It scans about the same altitude range as the vertical scan, but it doesn’t have that annoying blind spot in the center of the scan pattern and it scans more Sky relatively quickly

You mean the C-5 AMRAAM that has a max range of roughly 48nm and an effective range of roughly 20-25? And that would also be with a fix to the DCS loft code so it will change the loft profile based on mid course correction (which it does not do as of this comment) which would also extend the Phoenix’s effective range on a fighter out to roughly 45nm from its current 25-30.
C-7 and D AMRAAMs might be a competitor to the Phoenix, but even with a fix the C-5 is more of an active sparrow with better speed and energy retention than a Phoenix competitor.
@@artruisjoew5473 AMRAAMs have borked proxy fuzes and have to get a direct hit, like most of the weapon systems in DCS, because DCS has trash systems modelling. Pheonix is a big, sluggish crapbasket compared to a 120B, it just has a much bigger explosive warhead and a ridiculous loft profile.
AMRAAM still won't compete. Just does t have the range. Things will get a little better when they fix the Phoenix.

I'm trying to get into DCS multiplayer, can anyone recommend some good servers to get my feet wet? I just set up SRS today and tried to get into the growling sidewinders server but on my takeoff roll my connection timed out.
Georgia At War. PvE with a lot of players, so you learn not to teamkill people and take it easy vs AI. DON'T FOX 3 INTO FURBALLS. :)

In theory on Wiki the F15 is more efficient than the F14, more power, favorable power weight ratio, in DCS I don't know I only have the F15, is the F14 interesting? I read a two-seater F15E soon in DCSwhy in DCS the F15 is not clickable? same as SU27 / 33 Mig 29 etc

There is no way in hell that 3rd Phoenix hit the target, it isn't fire and forget, but Ralfi went nose cold as soon as he fired.
The phoenix is a fire and forget missile. It has its own radar. Limited, but similar to aim120
I was the one recieving the damage feed so I knew we were getting kills:
Phoenix in it's current iteration is most definitely a fire and forget, as soon as contact is broken the missile will go to it's last reported location and go pitbull with it's own built in radar.
What currently isn't implemented is the STT aspect of the phoenix, where then it will behave like a SARH missile.

I stand corrected, however I normally have to hold lock for much longer than that for a kill. Isn't it just going to go for whatever is in front of it at that point before it has had the chance to go pitbull?
Phoenixes lock by order of priority and threat level assigned by the mothership, I slew the radar over to what I want to kill and the plane will automatically assign phoenixes to whatever's on scope regardless of IFF, my job is to assign markers so I don't kill any friendlies picked up by my radar.
The only time a phoenix can only be fired if it's given a target, or when ralfi flips up the ACM switch to fire the missiles maddog.

Hearing people refer to the altitude of bogeys and bandits in angels is like nails on chalkboard to me...

@@flyingskyward2153 Angels is the height of Friendly aircraft in thousands of feet. Bogeys and bandits are simply called at their altitude, i.e. 7 thousand, 20 thousand, etc.
It's almost as bad as someone saying "tally" when they see a friendly or "visual" when they see an enemy.
