- DIY Hunting Saddle. In this video, I share with you how I made a DIY hunting saddle using a tree climbing harness, some rock climbing rope, and some carabiners.
The harness used is this one - amzn.to/2PKzmyu
The Sit Drag can be found using this link - amzn.to/2li6UoG

For anyone who is considering something like this. There are some important details to consider - especially the rope you use and its rating. This is a rock climbing rope, which is designed to not stretch and to hold people's weight while hanging or repelling with it. Even this kind of rope loses strength when you tie a knot. I weigh 180 pounds with my clothes on and the rope I used is rated around 1500 to 2000 pounds. Even if it lost 40% strength through tieing a knot, it still would be rated to hold around 900 to 1200 pounds. These are the largest suggested decreases in strength. The rope may have only lost a fraction of 40% strength, and I felt very safe. However, if you think of trying something like this, you should make sure you not only "feel" safe, but will be safe. You need the right rated rope, and I will not advise you on the exact rope to buy. You should consult a rock climbing expert on ropes and uses. Be safe and God bless.

I had to wait 4 months for my Tethrd saddle! Looking forward to experimenting with it. Great ingenuity on your part, and thank you for putting out these video's- you help a lot of people.
Awesome. Enjoy it. God bless you.
Great ideas. Need to say one thing. I start reading the verse then always end up finishing the chapter. I think God is using you and platform to spread the word.
Sounds like my hopes have been coming true then. God bless you, brother.
I used the sit drag all last year. Worked out pretty well
Sounds good thanks
Thanks really liked this because I have a harness and some steps but no hang on stand.... so been thinking of just like nailing or strapping up a little something for a platform and hunting saddle style if I cant get a stand
Thanks for watching
thank you Sr. you always thinking about the hunting community. God bless you
Thanks. God bless and be safe.
This was just the video I’ve been looking for thank you.
Thanks
Thanks Sean for the info here. Been thinking about trying this for the longer distance spots
Great thanks
When I was watching your video comparing the climbing harness to a hunter's harness yesterday, I was thinking about doing the same thing. Excellent video as always - thanks Sean!
Thanks, Bill.
Really looking forward to seeing the comparison
Thanks. Should be up soon. God bless ya.
Great video Sean, thank you. I m not fully convinced about the saddle. It seems to be much more difficult to control movements rather than seating in a regular hang on tree-stand. I don’t know i need to try one to see how it goes. Thanks again bud
Yeah it’s not for everyone
Sean got his thred i hope mine is in mail too! Excited to hunt out of saddle this year!
Thank, Sam. Enjoy yours. God bless ya.
Great vid! Can’t wait to try this out!
Thanks, Just Jabki. God bless ya.
Awesome Vids as always so smart! Really enjoy!!!
Thanks
did you ever get your answer in regards to the 1 Samuel - i believe it’s more of the three arrows being shot at a “target” as archers typically do. if not this i could only say it’s after the “deer” is hit it takes off and generally have to go beyond that initial blood splatter. nonetheless great watch. blessings
God always answers my prayers. Amen
Change the loop on your lineman rope to a figure 8 on a bite, it’s a much stronger and safer knot than that overhand loop. If you ever wanna look into knots that are approved for life safety, get the CMC field guide app for reference
K
Good vid. Unfortunately, in So Cal, more of a spot and stalk situation with muleys
Thanks
I am going on the youth hunt tomorrow, any tips for early season?
Play the wind and the food sources
Just an fyi you want that knot on your prussic to be away from your carabineer, you want the rope to bear the weight not your knot. I don't know the exact stats but you compromise the load weight the way you have it set up. Just work the knot away from the Apex of the bite and you will be fine.
Thanks for watching
Which Lone wolf company is sending you a platform?
I’m not sure. I was talking to Cody on the phone and I think he is just representing the newer one.
@@seansoutdoors please do a comparison between the Lone Wolf and Predator platform when you have the opportunity. I plan on buying one, but not sure which to go with. Thanks for all you do!
@@jameshankins1514 I would but Lone Wolf never sent it although I was told they were going to. THey probably are just so busy this time of year that they forgot. I'll reach out to them again.
I will be using rock climbing harness as my fall restraint system. Nice adding sit drag
Be safe with it all. God bless ya.
It probably isn't a real big deal since you're backed up into your RCH however you really shouldn't load your knot on your prusik. I couldn't get a good look at it but a double fisherman's knot is recommended.
I don't think it will ever be an issue. I weigh 180 with all my gear on, and the ropes are rated for well over a 1,000 pounds. If any of them should start to look frayed I would just stop using them long before there could be an issue. If I was on rocky cliffs rock climbing with the higher potential of fraying them on sharp rocks, that would be a different story as far as some of that goes, but I am hanging stationary on the side of a tree. Regardless, now that I have the Tethrd Saddle that was sent to me I won't be using this rig.
@@seansoutdoors bud, heed the warning an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and a fall from 20' would require at least a pound of cure
@@BenDownTooLong So as to not be harassed about this, I changed it. Thanks, guys. God bless.
Awesome your coming over to the dark side... LOL...
Lol, I am going to give it a try and see how it goes. I'll be using the Tethrd saddle though. It is just so nice. I'll be uploading a video on that soon.
@@seansoutdoors I have the Aero Hunter Kestrel and Flex ..The flex is so nice... Love the Predator Platform ... In the comparison I have done on my channel, small channel compared to yours, the predator continues to out perform the others... the Ridge Runner is very close... Matt made me a new bolt so that platform has more adjustability on the Ridge Runner. Love your Channels...Keep the scripture vs. coming...
@@MarksWorld-GetOutdoors cool, thanks, brother. God bless ya
Did the sit drag press the rock climbing harness against your body to make it uncomfortable after awhile ?
It didn’t seem to.
How is this better than a climber stand?
It’s just lighter.
Sean's Outdoor Adventures - I like the concept but it seems you would be skylined and much more visible as opposed to a tree stand. In a stand you’re standing straight up against a tree which essentially hides your outline, but hanging out off the tree seems you would be spotted much easier. Do you find that a problem at all?
@@claymac7895 You can rotate around the tree a little to keep the tree between you and the deer, which would help a little. It could leave you a little exposed though if there are several deer at different areas around the tree. You'd just need to be high enough I guess.
God Bless you Shawn
I did notice my brother and I respect you and what you do,
You didn’t have the scripture memorized ?
God Bless Sean good vid
👍
He said to the boy, “Run and find the arrows I shoot.” And as the boy ran, Jonathan shot an arrow beyond him.
37 When the boy reached the place where Jonathan’s arrow had fallen, Jonathan called to him, “Isn’t the arrow beyond you?”
👍
i mean this respectfully but yes that’s the scripture however i believe it’s more of the three arrows being shot at a “target” as archers typically do. if not this i could only say it’s after the “deer” is hit it takes off and generally have to go beyond that initial blood splatter. nonetheless great watch. blessings
did you ever get your answer in regards to the scripture.

@@seansoutdoors how did God answer if i may..and did i get it correct.? i know there was supposed to be a gift attached..as a brand new archer this season i could use it
Thanks
Sure thing, God bless
nice video God Bless
Thank you
A whole lot cheaper than the tethrd
Thanks for watching. God bless you
