I have a heavily tuned 135i with pure turbos and custom map from Kenni of Wedge Performance (hes a true N54 master) so I can feel you so much... This video shows the struggle someone goes through in a project like this and goodthing that you do all this work by yourself because it could cost SO MUCH MORE... In the end, this is a rare, beautiful, small powerhouse so don't give up!
This demonstrates a fine example of what happens when you modify your car. It’s never as simple as adding a new exhaust turbos and a remap. The car was setup to handle the factory build. So the extra power put extra strain on everything. Great video Chris can’t wait to see you finally finish the BMW
@@Vellyorla it is being done remotely, the logs being taken read the fueling, boost, intake temps etc the same as if the car was on a dyno then sent to wedge performance who are BMW n54 specialists who then write a tune for that car. There is no reason it would need to go to another company.
I've been driving with the preset Stage 1+ MHD tune on my 2011 *N55* 135i for about 2yrs & never had any engine code or misfire. I have all bolt ons with a stock downpipe & stock fuel pump. I bought the N55 specifically to avoid the reliability issues of the N54.
Precisely why might abandon my dream of owning a 1M, it would have to stay stock. Might be better to just widebody the N55 135i and potentially full M3 donor S65 engine swap in the future.
I have a 2010 BMW 135i with a titanium charge pipe, tie on blow off valve, catless downpipes, oil catch can, MHD burble tune, and stage 2+ v10 base map from MHD. I have an xhp tune I still need to throw on there
I modified my b8 a4 and this is exactly what happened to me. Spend hundreds on part after part, chasing what I thought was a fix until I just accepted defeat and went back to stock. Some cars just won’t accept it and you’ll spend ££££ trying to diagnose what’s up
Loads of content great video sounds so much better with the extra box can't wait to see this finally fault free and flying along the autobahn again 😂 It's so easy to throw the towel in when things get tough but fair play well stuck at 👍
I just changed the clutch in mine last week, it had a UUC paddle clutch that only lasted 12K, looked at the CG one but the price put me off seems far too cheap, so I went for a Sachs off a BMW 550i instead, couldn't be happier with it, also removed the Clutch Delay Valve at the same time & it's night & day now so I would advise doing this next time your underneath.
I had Simson S 51 Enduro. It was older and obviously with flaw from factory. It constantly stalled and refused to start. No mechanic nor friend found out why! I had him for one year, then bought Piagio scooter (which was flawless and very pleasant). My point is - I totally feel your frustration with this sort of problem 🙄
N54 life! I feel you on the pains of chasing a misfire. I'm down the same path on my channel. Just replaced injectors, spark plugs and coil packs - no luck! Next im trying PCV + Vanos clean, and also maybe a HPFP
@@Chris_Slix nah I’m auto thankfully. No transmission issues here yet thankfully, but I’m also stock turbos. Misfires aren’t going to be trans related though. It’s all cylinder and compression. I would also check out Jake Spence channel, he did an injector bore fix lately that is another area to check. The other is compression test, can’t remember if you already did one on your channel.
@@ElliottBrooks apparently the manuals have something to do with the flywheel that can cause a misfire (unsure how this works) but wedge managed to adjust the map for me to work round this which fixed it for me.
@@Chris_Slix I can understand how a tune would impact a misfire, but the trans seems like it doesn't logically make sense as I don't see the connection to ignition in the chamber. If it worked for you though, that's great!
Yea I had wondered why on earth he was getting a shop to remove the DME to tune thew car when MHD and others are available for flashing tuning right from the phone. I last got a tune the old way way back in 2013. I also haven't understood why he doesn't seem to check the codes on the car before throwing parts at it? But maybe he's just not telling us when he's doing it?
Great video as always! This is usually how it goes for me, creating more problems as I try to improve 😂😂 I thought you sold this, or did I imagine that?
Sounds like your getting the full Bmw experience 👍👍 Does it have index 12 injectors? Older injectors plus carbon build up could cause afr issues? Manifold absolute pressure sensor maybe one to look at too. Good look 👍
When you said clutch, I immediately thought of CGM as thats what I use in my 330d.... no more slipping for me!..... Also, dont these need uprated High Pressure Fuel Pumps when running higher power?
Id be interested to know the cost of these tunes compared to getting it done properly on rolling road, like Malory performance? I understand best method is a proper tune rather than a mobile app or generic tune. Keep up the good content!
That's a real shame cris I feel your pain im having same problem but with a polo 9n3 pd130 mine gets to 80 and straight into limp mode I've tried absolutely everything 🤔
I would say you were driving about 130 mph by comparing your speedo to where I could see the needle from the side view. Adjust your camera if you're going to have some fun!!!!!
Am I being stupid or did you not put the lock ring back on the fuel pump? Saw it come off but didn’t see it go back on? Sorry if I’ve missed something 😂
May have been better to get benji's discount evilgt99 with performance M at awesome and have them map and tune. It just seemed a lot of faf with that box and for me, didnt sell their product well when it all could have been done on rolling road and had the tools, parts and specialists on hand to resolve. Just my opinion Chris as i would have neither have the time or patience with that box thingy.
Love the video’s, I am shocked that all the writing in “Germany” is written in English and you managed to drive on the left side of the road on the ‘autobahn’ 😂😂 I’d be careful of what you film, only takes one Karen to report you. Keep up the good videos though.

Its never simple 😅 thanks
Surely needs a proper professional map on the road or rollers to check the fuelling and everything else.
I was doing this at the end of the video 😊
I guessing he means at a actual shop on a dyno
@@Vellyorla it is being done remotely, the logs being taken read the fueling, boost, intake temps etc the same as if the car was on a dyno then sent to wedge performance who are BMW n54 specialists who then write a tune for that car. There is no reason it would need to go to another company.
Nothing wrong with doing it this way... but would a been a lot less hassle to take it to a rolling road lol
13:16 those sparkplugs need to be gapped down to .020- .022 when used in N54. Hope this helps with the misfire 🤞
It was the flywheel in the end apparently! Easily mapped and sorted 😊
Great genuine painful car content, this is how jobs go in the real world for us ordinary people, good luck Chris

Aww my boy 🥰 you made his day! Great video 😊
Epic vid Chris. Lots of British vehicles over there in Germany, and, you’re on the wrong side of the road 😉
My favourite build content is this 1M replica. Loved this video . Keep em coming mate 👍
Stay strong mate! ❤
Lovely car! Great work Chris, hopefully you can get to the bottom of the dreaded misfire!
How about a 10 minute video of the full build...looks and sounds sick

Great video as always mate 👍
Great video! Cars are so frustrating but oh so worth it ❤
Nice build Chris, mines tuned with wedge and is am absolute beast, 100 to 200 6.29 on pump gas plus charge pipe meth, 25psi boost
That was a quality video. I do like the colour of that car. Hope you get to the bottom of that misfire too
@Chris Slix , also own a 135i N54 ,also had issue after issue but I stuck with it and now she runs like a beast. Dont give up , N54 is a gem

Pr racing coil pacs solved all my misfire issue went through 2 lots of coils and plugs in a year but absolutely love my e92 2007 335i 😊
love the vids,keep it up
Change the o2 sensors on downpipes. I had same issue and this resolved it. I think u got a code for it too.
Got to love the n54 life. Wonder how much power your going to get without PI :) nice one
Dont get frustrated mate, its just letting u know what it needs. Lol, awesome content btw.
“It’s just letting you know what it needs”… not sure why I’ve never heard this but that’s a GREAT way to look at it!!

Not on these cars so much the hpfp is very good although prone to faliure i think replacing with oem is the thing everyone does.
Amazing to see all the work that u put into this video🚀 beautifull car
What is it they say ......"patience is a virtue" 🤣🤣🤣
Why didnt you get tune from mallory performance chris
Coventry wupp wupp 🤘🏻
Hybrid turbo cars with dual mass will have misfire issues at 6000 due to the dual mass. We can get that sorted quickly.
Didn’t know Germany drove on the left side of the road 😂
I just mirrored the video 👀😅
My 135i was a nightmare there was always something new that would need fixing.
God damn it’s beautiful
I thought about one of these for a track car, as an upgrade from my E36 330. But not sure now 😂
I like it!! But i am living in Holland! And now?

Great how they spell litter the same on German bins ;)
You've forgot to put the locking ring back on the pump??
Do you have Index 12 injector ?? If not, it may be why you have a lambda error. Thats what u get when u have a leaky injector.
You need a money pit key tag Chris 😂😂😂
"6hrs later in Germany".... Sure, sure 😂

Good because that would caused some issues 😂😂 glad it’s all sorted now though!! Just a few more tweeks 😂

I have fixed it now, wasn’t the injectors 😅
What's happening about the caddy?
