The interesting character change in Hayden from the previous game is likely due to him having to deal with and realize the horror of the demons and then struggle to save the people knowing he had sent the slayer back to hell and now had to hope he would arrive in time to save earth

After he was appointed as General Director of the Global Science Council, the UAC recruited him. Soon after Argent energy was discovered on Mars, Hayden subsequently took over the leadership of the UAC.
But there are some hints that he might be connected to the seraphim named samur maykr and the fact that both share the voice of Darin De Paul
I think Hayden is just doing what he deems logical like he always do.

I love how subtle the chemistry between the Slayer, Vega, and Samuel was. Doomguy did whatever he had to do to stop the forces of hell and save humanity, his methods getting progressively more and more outrageous and unrealistic. Samuel has the same goal, but questioned Doomguy several times. Vega was pretty much loyal to both of them, and went along with both their plans. It’s like Samuel was the straight man for Doomguy’s antics, and Vega was just there to assist as much as he could.
The Slayer and Samuel are two friends that bud heads but still love each other, and Vega is the friend that's in the middle of it.

It's curious how Samuel Hayden refers to humanity as "your people" when speaking to the Doom Slayer, almost as if he does not see himself as belonging to the human race. And how does he know SO much about the inner workings of the makyr dimension and hell??
it's theorized that he is the same person as seraphim that blessed the slayer (samur maykr, samur -> samuel), same voice actor also.
Because all Theories on him are TRUE, He is both human who had cancer and later becomes Maykr Samur) Hell passage from Doom 2016 sais the Doom Slayer fought through (Time) so there is a MIX of parallel Dementions, and Alternate Timeline Dementions. the question is which theory of time travel is the story based on. is it closed loop where everything repeats itself future creates past creates same future that created that past... OR is it branching loop where the original time continues on and when you go back you are creating alternate distinct timeline that coexists with the original BUT because of the portals and HELL connection both timelines can directly interact even after the branch off and inderectly interact via HELL.
That's because Samuel IS the Seraphim, Samur Maykr, that gave Slayer his powers

and theb there's the "Am I the father, Dr. Hayden?" from VEGA towards the end and the text log describing how the father, a "logical" being, had it's essence stolen by the seraphim.
Combined with the seraphim sharing voice actors with hayden, and they both use the same phrasing when giving the slayer powers (hayden in 2016 wheb he gave the slayer an argent orb), Id say theyre the same person.
Either that or the seraphim gave hayden VEGA as a gift, either way we're most likely going to get a third game to answer some of this

You can, actually, something really close to Him, at least, in the Playstation VR version of Doom 2016 you play as the Man Who died in the elevator at the beginning of the game, that was accidentally turned into something really close to Hayden, sadly, he was erased by Samuel at the end of that game

I always thought Hayden would act as another protagonist. As he stated before he truly fights for the betterment of humanity. He immediately went to Earth with the crucible and risked his life to aid humanity, when he woke up he wasted no time in aiding the slayer, and when he learned of the origins of argent energy (human souls) he actively aided in it's permenant destruction.
Darrow Au Andromedus The hooded figure is known as Samur Maykr and I think Dr. Hayden and Samur Mayker are one and the same. Thats the only way he could operate mayker tech like the fortress. He also knows so much about the mayker world that no demon or sentinel had ever been to that it only makes sense for him to be of mayker descent.

Jose Manuel Ortega I don’t think he knew what argent energy was made from, but at the end of 2016 he did say that his and the slayers goals didnt align so he took the crucible which is one of the most effective demon killing weapons and dropped the slayer back in hell. I think he thought he could defend humanity alone without the slayer. Might be wrong tho this is all a theory.
@@MCSPARTA I don't think he knew there was an invasion, because at the end of doom 2016 he says "you stopped the invasion". He planned on just continuing his work with the crucible until he learned there was an invasion on earth. I doubt he'd think he wont need the slayer's help as he needed him just to stop a small scale invasion on Mars.

The hooded figure is the Seraphim. He is a mayker. It's obvious from his look. Like other maykers he has tendrils instead of legs which you can clearly see coming out of his robe in the cutscene.

He even knows stuff about the Makyrs and Udrax, that isn't even known in Hell except for maybe the Dark Lord himself and his direct subordinates.

Hayden is not an Antagonist, he is just another protagonist.
He got ripped in half for defending his Troops against the Marauder. He always had Humanities best interest in mind, he was just willing to make sacrifices along the way he deemed necessary, but the unnecessary ones he avoided.

@@desolator4662 I was expecting it to be a Chekov's Gun throughout the entire game, and was disappointed after beating the final boss without it ever coming into play. Still a fantastic game overall, and miles better than Doom 2016.

Doom has easily the cleanest story telling in gaming in this decade. Not to many characters but they are all fleshed out, very interesting, yet remain ambiguous enough to leave aspects to the imagination. They have no filler, it gets straight to the task at hand. And the story blends perfectly with the gameplay.
And the best part is that since Bethesda wasn't involved with it besides publishing rights it means that they weren't able to tamper with the game and add things like microtransactions or develop the game on their outdated buggy engine.
Story wise, I wouldn’t say no filler, say if doom where a movie. Would it really be necessary for him to take a break from hunting the hell priests just to blow up a super gore nest? But of course in the context of a video game, that has a greater focus on gameplay, that’s great. So it’s clear to me why you claimed it had no filler. In fact, the only thing that isn’t clear to me is why I wrote this fuckin useless ass comment, but fuck it yah know. If I apparently gotta waste my own time by making some long ass comment that adds nothing to the conversation in question! Viscellera Disciple but if half way through the “doom movie” the slayer got sidetracked with the super gore nest it would be considered unnecessary filler, which was my point before I realized it was stupid to compare video games to movies.

That’s one thing I wish the game did was actually continue from 2016’s Doom. I know it’s a sequel yes but, start off from the ending. We’re just dropped into this story and it feels like the beginning is really the middle of it all.

Wanted to unseat the unjust Maykrs
Wants to rule Hell better
All souls go to Hell. S.Hayden wants only the unjust to be tortured for argent energy.
Was punished and reborn as human.
Built an Urdak style robot suit to live in.
Stole Father and put in VEGA
Thinking VEGA destroyed took the crucible to fight the maykrs and hell
He is Hades/Satan that wants to rule Hell but without causing the suffering of the innocent
Edit ; VEGA asks Hayden in his final moments if he is Father. Which shows VEGA is Father in a sense that has survived.
Now S.Hayden has restored Father, ended the rule of the Maykrs, and has the power of the Crucible which isn’t of Demon or Maykr make.
With Father back in pseudo charge Hayden can become the next leader of Hell and make the changes he seeks if the “mysterious voice” can be defeated

It will give you strength, help you on your journey..."-is exactly the same as the sentence pronounced by the Seraphim (Samur Makyr) before enhancing the power of the Doom Slayer, as can be seen in the flashback in Doom Eternal.

It would absolutely slap to play as Hayden in the DLC with the crucible. It would only make sense, because of his big robot frame you could still keep the same glory kill mechanics as the doomguy and have it make sense. All they'd really have to change is the skin and make a mini campaign.

I really love interaction between Doom Slayer and Hayden, they are like opposite each other like fire and ice, and Doom Slayer always do the exact opposite thing Hayden wanted, but that's the reason their teamwork together is so charming in my eyes lol.
They are not well each other but somehow they make a best team along with Vega..
Samuel Hayden one of my favorite characters in all of Gamedom always has his mind looking to the future, his ambition brilliance and industrious optimism is admirable a true futurist.
I could definitely see myself as one of common that view him as the stuff of legends

I won't spoil it here for everyone else.
In the ending of DOOM 2016, Doomslayer was flung somewhere and it took him between months or years (depending on how long the time gap is between DOOM and DOOM Eternal), to salvage and pilot an old mobile Sentinel fortress to then fly to Earth. By the time he arrived, Samuel had failed to protect Earth.

Garrett Thompson I don’t think it was betrayal. Otherwise, I don’t think the slayer would’ve taken him in the first place and implanted him in his fortress.
My favourite part of the latest Doom is that all the music is a re-imagining of the originals. This makes me buzz with nostalgia as I recognise them all.
Satan doesnt want to kill all the humans because then he'd run out of souls. this is why he's helping the Slayer.
the makyrs were stealing souls from him, he needed that world gone so he could continue his work with earth. earth is HIS planet.
WAIT. So if Hayden invented a way to artificially generate Argent energy, wouldn't that mean that the Khan Makyr wouldn't need to kill Earth for souls? She could just take the tech and go.
He does not artificially generate Argent energy, he takes it from hell and "purifies it" into a form humanity can use. The Khan Makyr's deal with Hell gives them raw Argent energy, just like what Hayden takes before purification.
The souls they use to make Argent Energy ,they are destroyed forever ,right??They cant come back.

This really helps me understand the time line
What really happened was a Pain Elemental, Archvile, Mancubus, Marauder, and Revenant fought him while he was trying to escape one of his bases and when the teleporter was activated he was too damaged and his body got ripped apart as he went through.

Hayden has surprisingly been one of my favorite characters. His voice and design is amazing from the start, and besides that he is ultimately trying to do what he believes is right. Its not like he's doing it for luxury and he doesn't seem to care for fame. He made some fuck ups and is a bit overly logical sometimes, but ultimately I like his character. Great move bringing him in, and having him assist you along with Vega in Eternal.

1.how did doom guy got like a floating base on earth and where or when did he aquired it
2.in the ending of doom 2016 i remembered he was put in some sort of stasis by dr heyden.. How he got out?
3.the doom slayer just gonna be chill that dr heyden put him on captivity?? And dr heyden made no acknowledgement like "i put you on stasis..who let you out" something like that

There is a gap of 13 years between Doom 2016 and Eternal. I hope we get to see a small prequel from those years and finally connect why Hayden knows everything that is happening.
You know, it was a good thing Hayden stole the crucible from the slayer. It may have only delayed the inevitable but he did managed to alleviate the situation.
I’m not going to lie DE really pissed me off in the story department. I was so pumped to see where the story was going after that cliffhanger ending in 2016 and ID basically ignored all of it and shoe horned in the Priests/Makyrs. There also wasn’t nearly enough Samuel in this one.
I loved the story, personally.

Dr Hayden’s strength in that body was incredible. Not to mention the size and power of the mechs and high tech infantry under him. I wanna see him in action and the efforts of ARC forces some day

I hope in one of the dlcs we play as a arc soldier who pilots a mech or in another dlc we play with the doomslayer when he's with the sentinels a also fight in a mech
Hayden was right all along. Argent was a source of "clean" enegy that was the lifeline of humanity. Slayer destroying the filters actually plunged earth into a crisis that killed countless, but Hayden saved the day with the crucible

He went against the Hell but forgot he is not the Doomslayer
in doom 2016, when porting to hell literally explodes, both samuel and doom slayer travel from samuel's universe to doom guy's universe. (thats why he is an "alien" in that timeline)
if you remember, the doom slayer was captured and placed in a coffin in his own universe, that's why one of the priests had the shotgun.
This would explain what is happening.
Maykr was consuming the souls of the different planet earths from different timelines, only to save her race.
the seraphim is other character who try to stop hell helping the doom slayer.

I pre-ordered Doom Eternal and was not disappointed... It has been on of the best FPS I have ever played that truly stayed original and new at the same time. They impressed me with it $60 well spent
It's interesting to me that the machine games reboot of wolfenstion loves to imply that it is the same timeline as the doom reboot. This with the portals being called slipgates makes me think that Quake could be connected too. I'm still waiting on that Quake 5/ Quake 2&4 reboot.
My theory: samual was ripped in half by a baron considering that's their signature move or was rammed by a pinky. I think he knows so much about urdak and the makyrs as well as sentinel history because being plugged into the fortress's mainframe activated his memories from when he was the seraphim. He likely reincarnated himself as a human to hide from the khan makyr because he bestowed the slayer with absolute strength
