- 🇺🇦 After all of my trips to the Belarus side of the disaster it was finally time to travel to the source of the tragedy itself, Pripyat and the Chernobyl exclusion zone. Whilst there my guide Igor treated me to the world's greatest invention, 'Vodka cakes'. Oh and we also heard some stories from the re-settlers.
I used a tour company for my trip called Solo East. This is their website. I can highly recommend them. www.tourkiev.com
Don't forget to check out my blog for all the behind the scenes stuff and more! lostgopnik.com
Irradiated Vodka Cake:
15 hp
5 rads
“I’m not supposed to drink any liquor or do any drugs.”
Proceeds to drink and eat vodka
lonely old people make me really sad. maybe im just insecure about my own situation later on in life
That call of duty reference in front of the ferris wheel was legendary
I love how old guy is wearing a shirt that says “enjoy Chernobyl”
Keeping a lonely old man company is the best Christmas special ever
Agree 😄👍
Benjamin, it was very nice to organize this trip for you.
Igor. SoloEast.
Government: No alcohol in the zone.
Bald: Buys vodka bread and get hammered with an old man.
This comment will get buried. But I’m seriously ill atm while also caring for my mother who has vascular dementia. It’s hell. Your videos bring me a slight moment of happiness Mr Bald. Thank you x
I hope things get better for you, Thomas.
Hang in there and God bless you. it's so hard to be sick and have to care for someone else. Just know your hardship is not in vain and GOD sees all the good you do. you will be rewarded someday soon. Merry Christmas!!!!
same here just its lung cancer.. stay strong.. life works in mysterious ways
I am not a doctor, get your mum's Vitamin B12 level checked out. The level needs to be over 800 PPML anything under can be misdiagnosed as dementia. Check out "Could It Be B12"
I'm very sorry to hear of what must be an awful struggle for you, my father has early stages of dementia.
I truly hope things get better for you and something good can come your way this Christmas.
80 years old and still slamming vodka
They’re just made different, it’s like water to them 😂
Ollie Walton more like holy water. Regards from Ukraine. Merry Xmas
Vodka must have preservative properties.
Thats eastern europe for ya ;)
@@HansDelbruck53 It's like formaldehyde
Bald! I went to Chernobyl in May, and we also went to Ivan's house! Lovely guy, but he sure knows how to talk!
😂😂😂 Mate I've never met anyone who talks like him.
Okay the Call of Duty reference made me sub
Poor guy lost his wife and has nobody to talk to or drink with. Food truck comes once a month, 😳 he’s looking at a lonely life.
as long as he is healthy, by keeping busy, he will be fine.
@@Neven38 but he cant walk how is he supposed to keep busy ..
loneliness is just the worst..
The guy even thank bald for coming to see him
Meanwhile I feel isolated 10 minutes without internet..
@@red2744 he probably plays COD with the boys to keep busy
Checklist to enter:
Must not drink alchohol.
Mr. Bald
Drinks alchohol
Literally almost reduced to tears. The man with the Chernobyl t-shirt one of the strongest men alive. God bless the man
I am spending my Christmas day watching Mr Bald's videos. I am 65 with COPD Emphasemia, Vascular disease and heart failure. My girlfriend 43 has terminal Lupus SLE - watching this, there is always someone worse off. Poor old chap. Seems such a nice man too.
Vodka Cakes and radiation, my kinda Christmas.
"50,000 people used to live here.. now its a ghost town." Somebody played call of duty 4 😂
Baldy my man
Not funny
"Do not drink alcohol"
Bald: Eats a vodka cake
Well technically, he eats alcohol so it's okay
When you said, “50,000 people used to live in this town. Now it’s a ghost town.” I liked instantly! I was hoping you would say that!
The radiation going to make Mr. Bald grow his hair back
Bruh 😂
Hair back or hair on his back?
He's not allowed to drink alcohol so he eats vodka cake.
Funny. They said only liquor was banned, can he have a few cheeky ones than,Merry Christmas if youre so inclined.
Just exploiting the loopholes.
Then also drinks vodka.
Love the CoD 4 reference.
I see you are a man of culture bald.
Now I finally know who Иван Иванович is from Duolingo
50.000 people used to live here... now it‘s a ghost town.
Call of duty 4
It was actually very nice place to live. First big proper supermarket in Ukraine was in Pripyat
Can we sell some of those "enjoy chernobyl" coca cola style t shirts the man is wearing to raise money for the poor old bugger, so his son can visit or something?
I feel so hopeless behind the keyboard when I watch this. Breaks my heart. I'd love to help him and I love his t shirt!
Oh that old man wearing the "Stop staring at my glowing body! I was on radiation diet..". Sense of humour never dies, bless you darling!
Even though Kolya isn’t in this video he still is very thought of. Very great man! 10:00
I miss Kolya. He is the best 😊
If you would like to visit Chernobyl and the abandoned city of Pripyat in Ukraine then I can highly recommend SoloEast Travel. They helped me organise my trip and took me to see everything I wanted including meeting the re-settlers in the villages and drinking moonshine with babushkas. Their website is here: www.tourkiev.com
Part two will be out soon. Have a great Christmas!
On my way!
What the is the russian translation for merry Christmas?
Do u get to meet Konya !!
Mr. Bald!!! Thank you for coming to my Country!!! 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦. VODKA WILL SAVE YOU FROM CHERNOBYL! 😉
you should take one of those meters on your travels when you see Kolya and all the babushka
"50,000 people used to live here... Now it's a ghost town." - I see what you did there Bald. Word up COD4 family !
5:24 look at that absolute boss's shirt. "Stop staring at my glowing body, I was on radiation diet"
Its incredible to think that as we live our normal daily lives going to work, or out to eat that there is a man living completely alone in a ghost town in Chernobyl. Right now as i type this he is there in that house all alone. Merry Christmas to him. And to you Benjamin!!!
Crazy to think how many people were impacted by the Chernobyl incident, so good that you’re going to these places for us bald!
*cough Kyshtym disaster *cough *cough
Merry Christmas you legend. You made the almost unbearable 2019 easier to deal with, with that Soviet curiousity of yours that has now become mine! Good luck in 2020 and stay safe!
The only thing missing is a ghillie suit - and a scoped rifle.
“No smoking, No drinking”. Instantly goes into shop & buys vodka in liquid and food form 😂 Love it
I want that 'Enjoy Chernobyl' T-shirt.
Merry Christmas Ben, and to everyone in the Bald and Bankrupt family! Wishing you all the best.
My gift to my fiancée is a romantic trip to Lviv, Ukraine. It will be our first time in the former Soviet Union. I truly can't wait! Thank you Bald for inspiring this trip!
Lviv is a very beautiful city. It feels so very European and less Soviet compared to other cities. You'll love it. :D it's my favourite out of cities in Ukraine that I've been to.
JamesTavRule you ll like it. Pls share your impressions in next Bald videos
I still remember watching the volunteers using helicopters to bury the reactor ,knowing they would die....They were truly brave souls ,may they Rest in Peace...
Funny how I can understand the grandpa and I speak Polish
Thanks Bald. Pretty grim. I feel for Ivan Ivanovich.
5:24 stop staring at my glowing body I was on a radiation diet !!! (t-shirt)
It's amazing how tough those people are and how they overcame such a tragedy. It makes me feel like a wimp. I couldn't bare the loneliness let alone the disaster that struck them.
Can we start a fundraiser for that poor man living alone in that desolate town.
Was that a cheeky reference to Call of duty at the end? Ahaha if so you're a witty bloke, love it 😂
Lol "50 thousand people used to live here , now it's a ghost town." Someone is a fan of Call of Duty Modern Warfare.
Seeing that old man living by himself and his wife passed on almost made me cry!
Dat COD4 MW reference at the end tho👌
He's alive!!
Baldy is the only youtuber i genuinely worry about hearing his demise in the news when he doesn't upload for a week lol
What an amazing old man. Bless you for spending time with him 💜
God Bless you for visiting these folks and bringing them things. Best Christmas present for me to see this today on Christmas Eve! Brings me joy!
1957 There was a big disaster called the Kyshtym disaster wich also irradiated many towns but it is not known about because it was swept under the rug. Waste was dumped in the Techa river and various lakes in the Chelyabinsk area. Maybe go visit there?
More videos like this one please. Chernobyl zone is fascinating. Wander around , check places . It gives goosebumps to watch everything being abandoned like that. Love it!
I second this. I am fascinated by the disaster and am also fascinated by abandoned stuff and love old soviet architecture, so this place is like heaven for me. I'd love to see more.
@@noire1001 if you're really interested, check out the video. Illegal freedom, journey across the radiation zone. It's blowing up youtube.
Crazy Horse When bald said he’s going to the zone, I thought to myself that he’s going to sneak in as well. Too good to be true, I guess...
It is so nice to see a Ben’s video appear on my iPad, I know I’m going to have a smile just like his for the entire broadcast. He has a permanent smile and carries an air of happiness with him, it rubs off on the video and creates huge entertainment. Thank you Ben.
Bald. I have seen this channel grow from humble Belarusian beginnings to epic Hindustani adventures. I am not alone in saying this. Merry Christmas! We wait with baited breath for your next 2020 saga. Love and warm wishes from Canada 🇨🇦. Cheers bro 🍻!
Your Videos in the former Ussr are the best 🇺🇦 🇷🇺 🇧🇾
Just casually having an irradiated turkey for Christmas dinner, don't mind Mr Bald.
edit - that tour guide is the same one from IndigoTraveller. He has a very distinct voice.
Merry Christmas everyone btw.
Sonikks ah yes I knew I had seen him before!!!
Simon Wilson also had the same guide
Pasey yeah I thought so!!!! 😁😁
I think the guides is provided by the state? That's why the guide can be the same in different organizer, not sure but i think it is like that.
Maybe that's why RUclips autoplay me indigo traveler’s video.
Bald: sees a middle-aged male in Russia
Bald: oh look, a Soviet soviet!
Love how this has become a thing, peering into another world! Thanks for all you do :)
I can’t thank this man enough for the entertainment he has brought us this year! This man deserves one amazing Christmas 🎄 happy Christmas Mr Bald
Love you bald. Helped me with social anxiety. Taught me a new language. Showed me humility. Your an amazing character and a real man xx.
Thank you for such a grand novice tour of this tragic area and how they are surviving and carrying on. Thank you so much for filling in so much that is never showed or experienced. I already adored what you had done but now you aregiving so much that I would have never seen. Seeing the roads and roadsides, village dwellers and their homes all these things I would never have a chance to see. THANK YOU MR BALD! God Bless you and Merry CHRISTmas!!!
Thank you for posting!
I really like how you explore these places and tell the stories behind.

Nobody loves radiation more than Mr. Bald.
You're videos make my life substantially better, especially when things aren't going great. I just wish you made more frequent videos! Especially the ones where you interact with strange and interesting people. Merry Christmas Big Ben!
0:56 rules clearly state no drinking. proceeds to take multiple shots with the locals and eat a vodka cake 😂
Man... Watching you travel to the source of the disaster after all the people, the stories you've gathered about how impactful it was on their lives... It makes it so much more intense and moving than watching any other traveler on youtube who has gone there. Loving the content Ben, one of the best things about my 2019, thank you
The Ukrainian version of Kolya
bega al Kolya’s soulmate
That cod 4 reference at the was perfect
Spyro the Bandicoot this is the comment I was looking for
bruh i died when he said that
I am sorry to be late Mr Bald, but I have had connection problems, but I would love to wish you all the best, for you, and your family, for the festive season, and especially a safe and rewarding 2020. I would love it if you were able to have a question and answer live stream on new years eve, but wherever you are, stay safe and all the best for your future journeys. Just be wary in the FSU's, as I think Vlad the Lad, has you on his watch list! And again I would love to se you journey down to Australia at some time in the future!
Happy holidays. Thanks for all of the wonderful travels. I wish you a great new year.
Thank you Mr Bald for your trips to the zone where others fear , to gather information, and give comfort to the lonely and poverty stricken survivors . Your caring heart shines brightly . 🌟

Awesome job!
Terrifying, and tragic, but awesome.
As a Ukrainian-Canadian who can't yet visit my homeland: Thank you for allowing me a window into life back home, the respect you show for our culture, and for all that you do to help. You're a good guy.
Just found you and love this content I’ve never seen anything like it. There is one other youtubers I follow but he doesn’t stop and talking to the locals because of language barriers and stuff. Now subscribed.
A new Bald and Bankrupt video! What a delightful Christmas present!
A merry Christmas to you, Ben, to all the wonderful people you meet on your travels, especially Kolya, and to all the fans!

I'm not interested in actually going there myself, but i'm glad you go on our behalf. Always interesting! Put me down for a dozen vodka-cakes though when your new business starts up.
I love the humanity you always go for, and show Bald. Thank you
