Love this video mark! My past experiences with the 4s esc it has given me so many problems I’ve had to send it back to Traxxas a few times for replacement. This is what I ended up doing finally too!

The UDR has a pin also to set gear mesh....you can do it without it....but the pin keeps it from moving.....awesome job....👍

I've been bashing the v1 Maxx on 6s for about 6 months now. Hobbywing Max6 2200kv motor with 20/54 gearing and Armma Copperhead2 tires. To me this is the perfect setup, its crazy fast does wheelies on command and can do standing backflips and quadruple backflips on bigger jumps. Wouldn't have it any other way!
Is 20/54 fatser than 24/46?

Man that’s a mean maxx. I have the v1 and I put the widemaxx kit on it steel drive shafts and I just put on belted e revo times on it. My next and final mod for it is going 6s can’t wait. Can’t wait to see more of the super maxx
Saved up and got myself a new Maxx for Christmas. Took her out for her first rip this morning in 60 degree weather and it made it 30 seconds before I broke it. Plastic rod end on one shock snapped. Looking back it's a fair assumption that it was broken when I got it and I didn't catch it. Sure put the damper on my Christmas morning.

This is the only reason I want the v2 chassis. It can put the power down just a little better it being slightly longer than the v1.

You have any issues with the Maxx cogging with this setup? I did my Maxx with the e Revo motor and ESC and it has been cogging a lot. I changed the pinion gear so now I’m running 22/50 and it seems to be less, but still does it. Any tips? 😁
Cool truck Mark, i'm looking doing a similar thing to my Maxx making a v2 and putting a 6s system in it. but right now i'm doing an XO-1 roller build and i'm trying to decide what system i want to put in it the VXL-6S with 2200KV Motor looks really capable or a Hobbywing Max 6 with 1650KV Motor. The little pin is for the motor placement to set your gear mesh.
I have the same Maxx v2 and the same two traxxas 3s 5000mah lipo battery's, they don't fit in my battery compartiment no matter how i place them... any idea what could be different...??

I just recently got back into RCing after almost 5 years due to a major toxic RC community where I used to live. I sold everything I had. I used to race short course with my SCT410.3 and T4.2 Factory Team and bash with a bunch of different RC cars. I bought a Rustler 4x4 Brushed about a month ago. I already put a brushless system in it. Plus a couple little upgrades. And now i'm looking for a MT RC. I was dead set on a MT410.3, as I rather build my RC car my way but after seen your few videos on the Maxx, it's almost tempting. Since you have experience with both, MT410.3 or the Maxx for extreme bashing?
It looks super fun but how much money was it to do the 6s upgrade?
Can you just upgrade to the vxl6 and leave the stock motor?
Would upgrading to the vxl6 and leaving motor stock and running 4s keep everything cooler?
What Traxxas really needs to do is put 8mm outdrives, the 7mm isn't enough and the pins for the yokes snap easy, otherwise it's a great basher it'll definitely take 6s just needs some minor mods
Literally doing this right now with my v2. Saw the longer chassis and knew what has to be done lol
Warning to anyone who does this. The esc may catch fire, this setup already took out 2 vxl 6s systems. Other than that runs great with the bigger tires lol. Stay safe and have fun everyone
Hi Mark, what power tools u are using?
I break bulkheads like crazy on my max v2! I have a 3 ft ramp and I don’t do anything crazy but I’ve gone through 3 rears and 1 front in less than a month. You know of any upgrades? Or just chock out the 100$ to get the aluminum hot racing bulk heads?
Looks like not very stable on landing, maybe too much weight on batteries side?
Any ideas how to improve?

Was the pin for under the motor mount
The vxl-6s is prone to issues, if you're reading comments planning on doing this you should just get the motor and try probably a hobbywing esc or just use hobby wing motor and esc. Also probably should change fluid in center diff to reduce backflips
Did you have to re bind the controller ?
Gear it up and put a fan on the motor. Wouldn't that make it more controllable on the bottom end?
Are you using stock gearing? I upgraded to 6s but shredded my pinion, spur, input and diff gears :/

Hey Guys, I cannot seem to find the Traxxas Mount to install the 4074 motor into the maxx. Part number TRA8960X in this video. Can anyone offer any insight on this? I know it can be done without, but....

The pin sets the gear mesh. The UDR and X-maxx also use this design.

I did the very same set up in my Maxx and the vxl6s esc is the biggest pos I've ever used. It cogs badly on 6s and then turns on all 3 red lights. Now you can call traxxas and because it wasn't installed in a traxxas approved application they won't warranty it. GO HOBBYWING and save alot of headache
