- Sep.04 -- U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson faced an impassioned attack from Sikh Labour lawmaker Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi over a 2018 newspaper article the premier wrote in which he compared Muslim women wearing burqas covering their faces and bodies to letterboxes and bank-robbers. Dhesi drew applause from opposition members of parliament over his stance. Johnson did not reply directly, accusing Labour of anti-semitism. Liberal Democrat leader Jo Swinson admonished Johnson for his response, saying the prime minister “must be more careful’’ about what he says.

So he’s basically saying he’s allowed to be prejudiced against Muslims because some of his ancestors were Turkish Muslims.

I'm not impressed by this defence of masked women. Does this MP come to the House with a face mask? Of course not. I don't mind at all headgear that leaves the face visible, such as his turban or a hijab. But Britain, like Canada, is an open-face country. Women and husbands unhappy with my opinion are welcome to seek political asylum in a country where women have to cover their faces.

I am not Boris Johnson fan but agree with him here. Girls should not be conditioned from childhood to wear burqua or hijab and consider them as 2nd class citizen. It's responsibility of a developed society to stop that from happening.
