  • This is me telling the story of how I got my first tic, and about how my tics have progressed from there. This video is unedited, cause I didn't think it needed any and I hope it doesn't bother anyone. Thank you so much for watching my videos, I appreciate all of the comments and subscriptions so much!!

My tics suddenly got worse at 18. Before that, I didn't even know I had tics (though a lot of them should've been super obvious looking back). One day I got a "weird feeling" (premonitory urge) in my jaw and I couldn't stop stuttering. The next my shoulders started shaking and my arms would occasionally swing. Over the next week, I acquired a bunch of new motor tics and then vocal tics a little bit later aaand I freaked out, stressed about it and got to the most severe I've ever been in about 2 months...yyeeaahh haha. It felt sudden at the time, and it sort of was, but looking back, I had several tics that were increasing tons at least 2 months before I started stuttering. And I had had countless tics throughout childhood that no one noticed and I guess I just never thought or cared about. It's possible you had some really minor ones in childhood that you forgot about. I mean, I highly doubt I remember all of mine and even now I'm not always fully aware of what I'm doing. A little while back, I informed an elderly gentlemen of a tic he had and didn't know he was doing.
Anyways, I think I'm just rambling now. I might take some inspiration from this video and do a video on my own Tourette's story. I've meant to do it for a while, but it's going to be a looonnng video haha.
Anyways, I just wanted to say I've heard lots of stories like yours where you either get worse or get tics in adulthood (or just later than early childhood if you're still under 18). It takes some digging, but they're out there.

Snapple and Cats! I can't exactly remember when my tics started, but I know it was at the age of ten. My first was kicking myself in the crotch, which is pretty unfortunate to say the least. It's been four years, and I've gotten a lot more tics, mostly motor, since then. I'm afraid of getting more tics as I get older, especially since the ones I have are pretty noticeable.

Sorry but when it only started with 26 you can't have Tourettes but maybe a chronic tic disorder. Tourettes has to show signs till the age of 18 to ne diagnosed as Tourettes. And Seizures are not something that happens with Tourettes. Tic attacks yes but not seizures.

I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed your videos. I have a friend who's daughter has Tourette's. It is a fascinating disorder as are most neurological disorders. It is really amazing how the mind/body work. My daughter has narcolepsy so I have experienced how a neurological disorder can just start out of seemingly nowhere and then completely consume your life. Kudos to you for sharing and opening dialogue and educating others. That is such an empowering way to turn a "negative" into a positive and to take the power away from the disorder. I love how confident yet soft spoken you are. Thank you so much for sharing!

I started jerking my head a few moths ago, and everyone ignored it. A few weeks ago I started squeaking, blinking and scrunching up my face, and about a week ago I started saying "fuck" and "meow". My mom thinks it's just from watching these videos, even though my tics started before I found them. School's about to start and I'm really worried because my mom won't bring me to the doctor, and if I say "fuck" in the middle of class I'm going to get in trouble.

      - a m a n d a - I know im late lol but (If youre really concered go see a doctor this is just what I think) as long as doesent develope into any vocal tics, and you dont get any more physical tics you should be fine. This could also be a tic dissorder, which is a less extremem version of tourrettes. It means you usually only have like 1 or 2 physical, not very noticable tics.

I just found your channel and I really loved this video. I recently have felt like I maybe be developing tics, or maybe have just gotten much worse and have had small ones in the past as I am 18 now so it’d be rare to develop all of it now. But you said no one else said they developed it after a specific date after an event, but I did. One day something started a major panic attack that made me shake and fall to the ground and throw my arms and everything uncontrollably, but it lasted for hours. I told myself I’d be fine after sleep. The next day I woke up and felt fine, then as the day went on I just started shaking and uncontrollably doing things, like stomping and clapping my hands. I just wanted to share, it may not be the exact same, but hopefully it makes you feel less alone in that situation.

My first tic was only a week ago when I was playing Fortnite with my friends. We all sat there for almost and hour just laughing and gossiping about stupid stuff until I started to stutter every time I spoke. My friends suggested I got off and took a small break from video games, and so I did. My arms and legs started to twitch uncontrollably every few seconds but I kept it a secret from them because I didn't want them to worry too much. The next day when I was on my laptop doing school [I'm home schooled] my head started to swing to the side and rest on my shoulder every 5-8 minutes. My door was open just a crack and from the end of the hallway my brother was staring at me like "The hell is she doing?" and just walked away, anyways my neck was starting to hurt a bit so I started to Google what was happening to me, I was in panic since I am also dealing with Severe Anxiety. I later found a website explaining all of it and then I watched a few RUclips videos about it trying to calm myself down. I still haven't told my parents about them since I'm worried they will start taking me to doctors and all that other stuff, I've just been hiding in my bedroom for the past week only coming out for a few minutes to take care of basic needs. In case your thinking I'm just some introvert then I'm just going to add that I would go outside with my dogs and just go behind my house near my window and be myself for a few minutes before heading back inside. If anybody knows how I should explain this to my parents and you know what I may have to go through then please tell me XD. These tics just continue to get worse as the days go by. I'm also only 11 years old so I'm not sure what the hell I should do anymore.
Should I have them find it out for themselves or should I just tell them?

hi! this is super helpful, I don't really know whats going on with my but since yesterday I've been having a really annoying motor tic where I just jerk my head back a lot. it just happened yesterday and I'm unsure if its going to be a temporary thing or not and I was trying to find videos like this to see if anyone had experienced something similar. It showed up OUT OF NOWHERE

I pass out easily and get very dizzy too, I pass out about 10 times a year, or more, it might be because I had cancer, if you're curious which cancer, it was langerhan cell histiocytosis, I don't really know if it counts as a Cancer, but you still have to have chemo for it.
    Have a great day!

But I think I just have them because of my Autism
same with my seizures, even though my parents think
    that that's from meds too.

I've had mines since 13 but i didn't think much about the little urges i would feel to move i just was not really paying that much attention it was just little movements and not a lot of noise and now that I'm 17 it just got worse one night and now i say random words and i couldn't control it along with my body's need to stop breathing like how i use to and it scared the crap out of me when i said bitch under my breath a few days ago at the hospital and the random words it made me anxious my moms a nurse so she knows some what about this and the doctors said i have it but i just need to confirm it which kinda scares the crap out of me i know i'm on tangent but the up and down and the stares i get really piss me off and hurt some what people are mean so hearing about your story makes me worry a lot less thanks love

I’m not 100% sure about this but I think my first tic was a vocal tic. I started to say the word moo randomly the summer before 8th grade and didn’t think much of it for three years. Then at the end of my sophomore year i was put on a medication that severely worsened my tics and that was when I knew something was wrong. I’m off the medication and my tics aren’t as bad. I have far more motor tics than I do vocal tics and the motor tics are much more frequent and I still haven’t been diagnosed with anything cuz my doctors don’t even like to talk about it🤷fml

I've been watching a lot of videos like this, because for the last month I started cocking my head really weirdly. I always had a tic problem with my leg and hip but I put it off a lot as random spasms... but the head thingy is really weird and really disturbing. My parents keep saying I shouldn't worry so I don't really know where I'm going with this all...

Has your tics ever put you in danger, like ticking at the wrong moment, it’s a terrible thing for you to contend with and it must be exhausting, hope you get the topside of it.

Ugh I started my tics when I was 8 and I use to just move my hand and hit my leg and then when I turn 10 I start to make noise and I went back to school and then I try to hold my tics and I move my legs non stop and twitch my head and someone wrote a note and pass it to me and said I'm crazy and on drugs. Everyone was laughing and my tics got worse but the fuck up thing is that I'm 15 now and my mom still think I don't have tics she thinks I'm bipolar😢 I wish I had people that understand me

I have OCD and I think I have slight Tourette's too but it's not too bad.. it switches up a lot. I have ones where I blink my eyes really hard, I jerk my head a little bit, and I clear my throat.. but like it's weird. I don't know but I hope it doesn't get worse.
