The 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid for both the US and Canada are both manufactured at the joint Toyota/Mada factory in Huntsville, Alabama. However, despite the great Toyota powertrain marriage, in terms of standard equipment, the US and Canadian models differ markedly, in stark favor of the Canadian model. The Canadian model’s top trim (The CX-50 Hybrid GT) comes with heated steering wheel, front and rear parking sensors, front and rear cross traffic alert, 360-degree camera system. While some of the ‘missing’ features can be found on the gas-version CX-50 Turbo Premium, so goes the fuel economy found in the hybrid version. The US top-trim hybrid version (Hybrid Premium Plus) has no heated steering wheel, no front cross traffic alert and no 350-degree camera system. No trim level of the CX-50 features a digital rearview camera, especially noteworthy since rear window visibility is quite narrow. To me, this lack of standard and upper-trim equipment makes at least the upper trims of the CX-50 Hybrid not competitive in features and values with its rivals in the class, e.g. the Toyota RAV4, the Hyundai Tucson and to the Honda CRV. This stateside strip-down of CX-50 equipment compared to Canada, according to some conspiracy theorists, is an attempt to push the US market toward the CX-70 and CX-90 if all you want at best is 25 mpg. At this point, I want to either find a way to purchase a Canadian-spec’d CX-50 from the factory in Huntsville, or wait for a mid-cycle or 2026 model year refresh opportunity (if I’ve not bought something else) to see if Mazda pulls their heads out of their a**es!
You may want to spend about 60 seconds concentrating solely on the trim differences. You splashed a bit here and there, but I couldn't keep up with the sporadic, fast-paced presentation this review takes.

I like Mazda, but they're frustrating. No heated steering, no 360 cam, and still very outdated infotainment. No full digital dash. Come on Mazda, it's 2024.
If Mazda could undercut the pricing on the overpriced Honda CR-V this CX-50 will sell like hotcakes. But the pricing matches the Honda CR-V pricing so you can actually get a little better deal on the CR-V at the moment. Maybe dealer discounts will make the difference.
The worst thing about this vehicle is the infotainment screen system. Should’ve been a larger touchscreen instead that stupid obligatory knob on the console to control it. Acura & Mazda are missing out doing that.
It really hasn't been a problem for me in my almost two years of driving the CX50. I kind of use the dial for certain things and the touch screen for more of the Apple Car Play stuff

I want one of these, but the wheels are too damn big for a hybrid spec.
So swap the wheels & tires out after the purchase? What a crazy reason not to buy a vehicle.
No fog lights and its not functional this would be 2026 installed for sure ill wait for 2026 model lets see if they have changes or not awd hybrid no problem its great for winter season
I love the knob system , it keeps the screen clean .
It really hasn't been a problem for me in my almost two years of driving the CX50. I kind of use the dial for certain things and the touch screen for more of the Apple Car Play stuff
Anybody has the negative experience of torsion beam of cx50?
I have a Mazda 3 which is also a torsion beam. It’s perfectly fine in my opinion. It’s only gonna be an issue if you’re driving the car hard
7:53 the dumbest thing I have ever seen in recent year LED turn signal design (Mazda and BMW) - fade in/out to mimic the incandescent light bulb. The whole purpose of LED is to get the crisp instance ON/OFF experience. I don't know what the engineers were thinking, adding such fade in/out feature require additional circuitry.
The CX-50 doesn't have an Independent rear suspension?? You went right over that too quickly. That's a ZONK!
The break torquing crap has to go. Particularly on a hybrid. Now he says this hybrid engine is better than the Honda version. Your smoking. If you like noise this is your car. For me, Ill take the Honda hybrid any day of the week. Quiet, refined. A winner.
The CRV will be more roomy inside than the RAV4 and the CX50. but I love the exterior and interior styling of the CX50
No fog lights, no sale.
The slow motion walk in every video is ridiculous.
Hi Davy, most of us really dig the slow motion walk in every video. Sorry fella
