The problem with the pricey cars is the 2 types of people who are buying them.
      1. The people who have the bulk of the money who don't care if you can or can't buy it. Its for them anyway.
      2. The people who are so bad with managing the money they don't have, and just sink deeper into debt with their 72-84 mo finance plans, while they still try to pay off the rest of the bills and have been in debt since they left their parents house.

This one has the wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. I just wanted to let you know that it is woefully unreliable. I found the ergonomics for the driver and the 3rd row were not up to our needs. A narrower center console would help the driver side but my 5' 3" wife found the 3rd row seating cramped and I don't know how they could fix that. edited to say it was the CX 90 that we were looking at, sorry if I was misleading.

I was REALLY looking forward to this review and glad to see you both like the vehicle.
I’ll get my bias out of the way right away, I’m a 2021 CX-30 turbo owner and it has made me a Mazda fanboy and likely customer for life. So I’m thrilled to see Mazda go the hybrid route. However, I hope they can replicate my driving experience with my CX-30 when they eventually make a hybrid of that model.
My father has a 2024 RAV4 hybrid and I think it’s well overrated. I told him to buy it too. However it drives like a boat, it’s louder than my gas CX-30 turbo and the interior is pretty awful. My father also has lamented that he doesn’t have some of the features my Mazda has, particularly the adaptive headlamps.
Very curious how the CX-50 drives with the RAV4 engine. It surely can’t be as loud. Not a fan of the update look, though it’s not bad. Just preferred the “wagon” look of the gas CX-50.

I test drove this a few days ago and hated it. It was the Premium Plus Hybrid. It felt like it was dragging and then I realized I had it in TRAIL mode so I changed it to NORMAL and it still felt draggy... what the heck? I wanted to love it because it has way more bells and whistles at top of the line than the CRV but it was noisy and draggy. Gas pedal even felt heavy/stiff... . Ugh :( I came back to hear what you guys thought because I heard this before and thought it would be great. Oh well...PS the sales guy told me that it does have the 360 camera on the premium plus package and I think he did confirm that it doesn't have rear heated seats or a heated steering wheel, but the 360 camera he said it did and I didn't check it out. Lastly he said that the dial to avoid touching the screen only works in the Mazda modes but once you get out of that and you go through your carplay or Android auto you do have to touch the screen so he told me you would want to leave the plastic on it or get a cover.

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid for both the US and Canada are both manufactured at the joint Toyota/Mada factory in Huntsville, Alabama. However, despite the great Toyota powertrain marriage, in terms of standard equipment, the US and Canadian models differ markedly, in stark favor of the Canadian model. The Canadian model’s top trim (The CX-50 Hybrid GT) comes with heated steering wheel, front and rear parking sensors, front and rear cross traffic alert, 360-degree camera system. While some of the ‘missing’ features can be found on the gas-version CX-50 Turbo Premium, so goes the fuel economy found in the hybrid version. The US top-trim hybrid version (Hybrid Premium Plus) has no heated steering wheel, no front cross traffic alert and no 350-degree camera system. No trim level of the CX-50 features a digital rearview camera, especially noteworthy since rear window visibility is quite narrow. To me, this lack of standard and upper-trim equipment makes at least the upper trims of the CX-50 Hybrid not competitive in features and values with its rivals in the class, e.g. the Toyota RAV4, the Hyundai Tucson and to the Honda CRV. This stateside strip-down of CX-50 equipment compared to Canada, according to some conspiracy theorists, is an attempt to push the US market toward the CX-70 and CX-90 if all you want at best is 25 mpg. At this point, I want to either find a way to purchase a Canadian-spec’d CX-50 from the factory in Huntsville, or wait for a mid-cycle or 2026 model year refresh opportunity (if I’ve not bought something else) to see if Mazda pulls their heads out of their a**es!

Really nice car! But the uncomfortable seats and seating position is a deal-breaker for me. I could probably live with the seats. But the VERY high position of the front window sills is awful! It is about level with the top of my shoulder - I'm 5,9 - with the seat at the highest position. No way I can hang my elbow out the window. I understand that the driving position seems to be optimized to support the sporty ride. But, for me, it's just too much. I REALLY wanted an option to the RAV4, but I don't think this is it. It's a different thing altogether, and I think unless they make some changes it will ultimately attract a somewhat niche market. Too bad... 😮

It’s a shame we don’t get the CX50 in Australia 🇦🇺 BUT as I don’t give a continental about fuel economy so I’d take the turbo. The high octane petrol in Oz is good so bring on the turbo.
I don’t get how there is a huge difference between Canada and USA and don’t get me started about how USA pronounces MAZDA. 🤦🏻‍♂️
Great vid as usual but I have to disagree petrol turbo all the way.

per chat gpt: Bringing a new car purchased in Canada into the U.S., including Texas, involves several steps and costs. Here’s a breakdown of what’s involved and whether it’s worth pursuing:
      1. Vehicle Eligibility
      Compliance with U.S. Standards:
The car must meet U.S. safety, emissions, and labeling standards as required by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Many vehicles sold in Canada already meet U.S. standards, but you’ll need to verify this. Check the manufacturer’s certification label on the car, typically located on the driver’s side door jamb.
      2. Import Process
      Declaration at the Border:
When crossing into the U.S., declare the car to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
Provide the bill of sale, manufacturer’s compliance letter, and any additional paperwork (see below).
      Paperwork Required:
Bill of sale or proof of ownership.
Manufacturer’s compliance letter stating the vehicle meets U.S. standards.
CBP Form 7501 (used to declare the car at the border).
      3. Fees and Taxes
      Import Duty:
Passenger cars are typically subject to a 2.5% import duty based on the purchase price. Duty is waived for U.S.-made vehicles returning to the country.
      State Sales Tax and Registration:
You’ll pay Texas sales tax (6.25%) when registering the vehicle, even if you paid Canadian taxes.
Registration fees vary but typically include a title fee and additional charges for new plates.
      Conversion Costs (if necessary):
If the vehicle doesn’t meet U.S. standards, you might need modifications (e.g., emissions, lights, odometer conversion from kilometers to miles). These can range from $500 to several thousand dollars.
      4. Logistics
      Transportation:
Driving the car across the border is the simplest option.
Hiring a transport company can cost anywhere from $500 to $2,000 depending on distance and method (open or enclosed transport).
      Insurance:
Ensure you have adequate insurance coverage during transport and upon arrival.
      5. Additional Considerations
      Warranty Issues:
Some manufacturer warranties may not be honored in the U.S. for Canadian vehicles. Check with the manufacturer.
      Resale Value:
A car with a Canadian VIN may have lower resale value in the U.S. due to perceived differences in history reporting and standards.
      Challenges and Costs
Time and Paperwork: Importing involves navigating customs, paperwork, and potential modifications.
Additional Costs: Import duties, transportation, and state taxes can add significant expenses.
Compliance Checks: Ensuring the car meets U.S. regulations is critical and can be costly if modifications are required.
      Is It Worth It?
Buying a car in Canada can make sense if:
Price Difference: The Canadian price (after accounting for exchange rates, duties, and fees) offers significant savings.
Unique Models: The model you want isn’t available in the U.S.
Close Proximity: You live near the border and can streamline the logistics.
For most buyers, the additional costs and complications often outweigh the potential savings unless there’s a specific reason to purchase a Canadian vehicle.

It was 5 degrees in Minnesota today. There is no way I'm spending $40k on a car that doesn't have a heated steering wheel. Its like Mazda hates money.
The RAV4/Cx-50 hybrid is essentially front wheel drive. The rear wheels are reactive. Once Subaru gets a hybrid (if they keep their all wheel drive system) its going to smoke these hybrids. Subaru is also the most reliable brand right now. I have not thought about buying a Subaru in years, but now I'm waiting for their hybrid.
