@@SimpleCarGuy My wife and I are E89 Z4 and R56 Mini Cooper owners in the Chicago area. Seems like we've got a bit in common! Still going through your videos and enjoying your work. Thanks for making these and happy holidays!
The cigar lighter skt and mirror dip is an optional extra, not all have these fitted. There is a key hole on the drivers door, not on the passengers. The gear change triangle is for optimum mpg. Or you could just match the manual gear to speed, change to 2nd at 20, 3rd at 30 and so forth. There are so many options on these cars, do some research before buying.
As far I know the power plug under the dash is there if you don’t have the smokers package which puts it in the center console. Thanks for the key home! I didn’t know it was there. I turn off gear suggestions because I like to feel the car and I drive it for most fun not most MPG. Thank you for watching!
My E89 was not fitted with the under dash power socket. So, I fitted one, then, I added a double USB adapter into that giving me 2 power outlets. If you then buy 2 x 90 deg. short USB extensions you can plug into the adapter with very little protrusion into the foot well. My car has the power outlet in the ash tray and the centre console (inc. USB) but not under the dash.
I have a 13 e89 6spd/n54... never had the rev limit in any of the driving modes, the gear suggestion disappears when sport mode is turned on, there is no power socket in passenger footwell, but I do have the smoker's package, so I have the one in the ashtray. and as far as the power for dashcams and radar detectors - there's a handy little connector powering the mirror, with an ignition wire on pin 3 (green/white), and an always on wire on pin 8 (red/violet) and ground on pin 10 (brown).
My 09 35i can revv past 3k rpm in all modes so that has to be engine specific. Also i dont have that gear change indicator ( maybe disabled or later models/ software... will check next time im driving it) And im pretty sure i dont have extra power socket in passenger footwell. been there many times and i would have noticed it. There is extra usb socket in glovebox for idrive updates and loading music to built in harddrive. Havent tried to charge a phone with it but it may be possible...
Is your car a US spec car as it might be different between countries. Power socket is usually not there if you have a cigarette lighter or smokers package. Thanks for watching and enjoy your sweet 35i!
@@SimpleCarGuy Car is EU spec imported from Berlin Germany. Dont have smokers package either. Must be US thing. Or for cars with no navigation built in so you can plug aftermarket TOMTOM or garmin unit there. Z4 was designed before 2009. Back then smartphones and dataplans were not that good yet and standalone navigation units were still a thing.I had a TOMTOM back then. Matter of fact its still in a drawer somewhere collecting dust :D Gear indicator must be manual thing. Not there with DCT paddles even in manual mode. Thank you for making these videos and keep making more!
@@donsirsimon I should have specified that the gear indicator is for manual cars only. And I believe you are correct about the other things too, especially the navigation cars not having the extra plug. Appreciate you watching and have fun driving your sweet ride!
No the usb is not for charging the smartphone. Acrually BMW points that out because the voltage is too low. You will have to use the cigarette power socket for charging.
@@4711Express is that only for the glove box USB? i use USB port that is under the armrest for charging my iphone X all the time. It isnt fast but it does charge.
@@SimpleCarGuy Thanks so much, Appreciate that. Can I ask some more? About Sdrive23i , Can that model do a launch control ? I owned one but I was wondering if that can do a launch.. i’ve been searching and I found no answer.. Anyway thank for your information. You made my day!!
What year is your car? Is it manual or auto? I’ve tried it many times and it won’t rev in neutral or with clutch in past 3k unless you are in the correct mode.
if your going to do a video on the features of a car then you should do some fact checking. 1st, when you put the car in sport +, it turns off the traction control automatically, no need to press the traction control button. the extra power socket is an optional extra, as is the mirror dip in reverse, oh and the M colour strips on the grill...………...nasty! ;-)
Sport+ turns off DSC and turns ON traction control (DTC) just to a lower setting allowing more wheels spin. It is NOT the same as turning off Traction control off completely like I did in the video. Options are features also, so I don’t see a problem with including them. Thanks for watching!

Ahh, you must have the smokers package then! Great idea to put 2 sockets under the dash, very useful!

Good video brother and thanks for sharing. Ignore the nasty comments 👊

idk why I can't turn off the gear suggest arrows off, I can also rev past 3k not in sport mode. is it just because I have a European model?
I’ve learned that euro version of BMWs have some differences, so you’re probably right.
Quick question: Did the cupholder come with the car or you purchased it and installed it separately? If yes, where did you get it from?
These are factory cup holders. Do you have the slot for them?
@@SimpleCarGuy you can order them afterwards even in the matching color to your interior including the interface.
Can this Sdrive 23i do a launch control ?
This is a 28i and it cannot do launch control.. well, mine can't, but it's also a manual.

Mine does not have the power socket under the passenger dash... shame , would have been very useful ...
Do you have navigation? I think navigation cars don’t have it.
@@SimpleCarGuy , no, Sdrive like your but 2015 model and automatic, there is the hole but no power socket in it ...
Surprised it doesn't Valletta key
Mine doesn;t have most of these features i.e. been removed already, yet it has one previous lady owner...hmmm..
What features doesn't it have? What year and model is the car?
My 35is it does rev above!!!!!!!!!
Very possible! I haven't had a chance to play with one.
mine let's me rev it?

I tried the thing with the mirror, it doesn't work. I have the 23i model. Could it work only with a 35 model?
This is a 28i model, so I don't think that's it. Does it have the same buttons as I do in the video?
