I will also plan to ship the car to europe and do a cross continental journey through the alps etc....so there is a lot going to happen... this Z4 has only 8000 miles on it... but will have a lot more with me...
I am glad you are really enjoying your Z4. I owned one 2015 and is everything you state in your video. Here in Puerto Rico the driving culture and bad driving habits made me sell mine with just 2012 miles. Why would you ask? Well I’ll tell you. If you were to get slammed in the rear, the beautiful bailarina dance performed when you open or close your convertible hard top would never ever be the same. I actually became very stressed out every time someone would come close to my rear bumper. My wife would ask me, why I looked stressed out; my reply would be: Look at this “Short Of Breath” tailgating me at the rear, he is almost on top of my rear bumper. But more than likely you don’t have this problem. Never mind me.....enjoy your beautiful Z4. Thanks Frank
Also the car comes with a cup holder that fits on the Centre console, passenger side just under the dash. Ive been trying to attach a photo, cant get that to happen.
Remote closing You Have to code it for this car. for the reason the 7 series have it because there safety features not like in the z4. Carly or NCSExpert.
The only convertible car that looks absolutely gorgeous in both top-up and top-town modes equally. I was exceptionally disappointed to hear the new one will be a cloth-top only. Yea sure hard-top convertibles have their big downsides but . . . I mean look at it! The best-looking BMW hands-down. The only car I would ever consider looking past every single BMW ownership downside to get.
@@christiano8088 Well for me it is mostly that it has many of the same downsides to a soft-top (such as less structural rigidity, points of failure in various weather-proofing seals and the added failure-point of a mechanical moving roof), and then amplifies them because it is not a "Soft" top, so if something happens to it, it's not only harder to fix due to being similar composition to the actual body of the car and not closer to a fabric, but is far more expensive, with (very likely) more moving mechanical points in a proprietary system compared to a traditional soft-top, as hard panels require more engineering and planning to make work around each other than flexible soft-tops. Ad on top of that I just dislike the extra space the convertible systems take that could be used for other things.
+Zimba Motoring get a icarly OBD reader. I believe there is a option once you go in the OBD to program the car so you can also close the top with the remote. My 3 series windows went down with the remote control but didn't go up. I bought the icarly and programmed it to go up. Its not that hard all you have to do is check the box options and that's it. There were a ton of options to program all sorts of things that BMW left out. you can even get a digital speedo on the dash too. check it out
it's curious that you didn't find out this by yourself after 2 years of ownership. the roof DOES come up from the remote it's just that, if in the case of putting in down, you can be very far away, when you want to close it you need to be at max 2-3 m from the car and if you move away it will stop mid process
Good vid +1 mate. Z4 is a head turner that's for sure. Where I live in West Yorkshire, I've not seen a Z4 for over 2 years, but I see quite a few Audi TT around.
Agree it's a great car - although ride is way too hard with run flats. I have a 35i which is too quick for me ! I can put roof up remotely - I think you have to be nearer to car for "safety reasons". BUT - I can't put roof up or down when driving at any speed - any ideas ?
Yeah, I have the M suspension package and the run flats were great for smooth pavement, but brutal on potholes, etc. Switched to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ (A/S because I'm too lazy to change tires in winter) and they're much better overall, though it did take a little while to adjust to the fact that I now have >0 body roll when cornering hard. The run flats also kept the car very flat in curves--double meaning there I guess :)
Correct, you can put the roof up with the remote, i've found that i have to be near the front part of the car Roof up, up to just under 15-20km/h while driving Run flats were terrible for me also. I've finally changed to non run flats and much prefer it on the horrendous roads we have down under

Great video! I love my Zed 4 as well.
Re: cup holders, they added an extra one in the states that plugs into the side of the center console .... because Americans love their cup holders.
Yeah, I was wondering why he didn't have the "real cupholder" on the passenger-side like in mine.. must be something they did for us slovenly Americans, but I'm glad they did :)
how tall is he? he is so deep in the seat I can't see him
Very simple and nice explanation. You are a nice down to earth person too
Excellent, excellent review. I'm now a subscriber
Nes just to let you know your enthusiasm and constant luv for all things Z4 today made me go and buy a blue E89 Z4 35i so let your BMW buddies know, so hopefully they support you with access to more BMW products....its stuff like this that counts, I reckon they should give you 10 days living with a M3 CS what do you think!!??? lots of cool video's. I didn't buy the new one just released because truthfully, I don't like it's looks or otherwise...Juliane Blasi designs are just wicked, in a different league.. to Calvin Luk..... I think the 507 was the greatest BMW roadster every shaped and you can see many E89 influences from it without making it look retro. I now have another blue crew member to join my C7 RS6 Avant in the garage at home. If I am smart enough I might even put some video together.... happy sunny days....
Alan Hunt Wow this is the best comment I’ve ever received! Thank you so much, means a lot Alan! So glad you went and bought one, you won’t regret it. Where are you based? Are you on Instagram?
@@ZimbaMotoring Nes the good and bad of that is no I am not on Instagram, but can be easily changed for you, but I am based in Australia so maybe I can hook up with some very cool video footage as I live 4 minutes walk to a very sandy beach and have an entire peninsula of beaches to share with you, let's spread the Z4 luv together. I used to live where you live currently back in the 80's.... so I know your patch pretty well... I have to go and collect this car, so it will be transported 4000km back to me...sounds like a raw video in itself... I will also plan to ship the car to europe and do a cross continental journey through the alps etc....so there is a lot going to happen... this Z4 has only 8000 miles on it... but will have a lot more with me...
Every Z4 I''ve seen with the hard top will raise the roof from the remote. Maybe an issue with yours?
Works with mine too
What engine is it? Couldn’t see the badge on the side :(
Is the exhaust stock? Sounds amazing
What size wheels, rims are you running as well is the Rim model ? look Awesome.
Get a Smarttop unit and you can have all the flexibility in the world regarding your roof's operation. Easy to self install too.
Simba got his own motoring channel? Word? Mufasa would be proud.
Great video, love your enthusiasm.... I want one!
Im 24 and just got the 2.2i, love it
I am glad you are really enjoying your Z4.
My wife would ask me, why I looked stressed out; my reply would be:
Look at this “Short Of Breath” tailgating me at the rear, he is almost on top of my rear bumper. But more than likely you don’t have this problem. Never mind me.....enjoy your beautiful Z4.
Thanks
Frank
Also the car comes with a cup holder that fits on the Centre console, passenger side just under the dash. Ive been trying to attach a photo, cant get that to happen.
The Left Hand Drive version has a cup holder which pops in and out to the left of the steering wheel.
You can put the roof up on a 2012 BMW 1 series convertible using the remote, so surely you can on this 2015 Z4?
Remote closing You Have to code it for this car. for the reason the 7 series have it because there safety features not like in the z4. Carly or NCSExpert.
Good job fellow Bimmer! Just got a 2016 S35I in black on black, it's so Kool!!
I got the same but with red leather interior, black kidney grilles. Agree it's the best looking BMW
What downside for a hard top convertible dude?
There were a ton of options to program all sorts of things that BMW left out. you can even get a digital speedo on the dash too. check it out
I had 2005 Z4 and loved it in the summer, will defo buy another someday
it's curious that you didn't find out this by yourself after 2 years of ownership. the roof DOES come up from the remote it's just that, if in the case of putting in down, you can be very far away, when you want to close it you need to be at max 2-3 m from the car and if you move away it will stop mid process
Good vid +1 mate. Z4 is a head turner that's for sure. Where I live in West Yorkshire, I've not seen a Z4 for over 2 years, but I see quite a few Audi TT around.
High-quality video as usual. What are the best/comfortable non-run-flat tyres to buy please? Thanks.
Read your owners manual, u are able to put your top up with your remote. I press your lock button once and press and hold it
Agree it's a great car - although ride is way too hard with run flats.
Correct, you can put the roof up with the remote, i've found that i have to be near the front part of the car
Roof up, up to just under 15-20km/h while driving
Run flats were terrible for me also. I've finally changed to non run flats and much prefer it on the horrendous roads we have down under
Google E89 SMARTTOP, this third party plug in will give you a number of new options with the roof, windows and mirrors
I like those rims. Are they stock?
This is one happy guy, That makes me happy
