@russellsymes9226 I believe Chad did not mean it literally when he said this . He was talking about watches and jewelry then Chad asked Shannon for the time then Chad proceeded to say time is free. He probably meant knowing what time in the day is free so no need to buy a Rolex. Chad obviously used his time wisely as he is financially free from what I know from his interviews. You can theoretically extend your time on earth by exercising and good nutrition. As we know we can end it prematurely hopefully no one does this but also accidents occurr.
Or the opposite, he is overly arrogant abt his image that he thinks nothing compares to himself and starts acting down to earth bcs nothing else compares
Totally! Love that dude. He's the kind of guy that once you're tight, you're *tight* But it may take a bit to get there. And people will say "are you friends with that guy? What's his deal?". Coz he rubbed them the wrong way or whatever. And you take delight in saying to that person "stfu man, he's solid"
It’s refreshing to see an athlete that has a great sense of who he is and the value of money. He’s a great example for every player and for everyone else.
Chad is a man who understands self-worth, and when you know your worth everything you do, say, touch, consume all has more value, because it has the value you give it.
It’s not just about his financial responsibility but his introspection and self awareness. Chad Johnson is super confident and comfortable with his own self worth that he doesn’t let society dictate or impact his decision making. Super smart dude
I love his attitude and approach. I thought this man was yet another frivolous athlete. This interview is refreshing and encouraging. Too many athletes go broke because they refuse to listen. Good for Ocho!
Rob Gronkowski, for one, said he hasn’t spent his NFL money at all. He’s lived off of his endorsement money alone. His statements got picked up in the media as a major example that it could be done and as a feather in Rob’s cap for his wisdom with his finances. Let’s hope this gets picked up for Chad, as well.
Ben Tate - He was just one example. Alvin Kamara, for another, also says he hasn’t touched one dollar of his NFL salary money. Let’s hope Chad’s story gets coverage, too.
I respect it. When I got my first full time job after college I was putting away $1,000 a month by paying attention to my spending. One part of my saving strategy was to go to the supermarket every Sunday after church and get a lb of cold cut meat, 1/2 lb of sliced cheese and a loaf of bread and that was my lunch for the week. My friends used to laugh, but I save $24,000 in 2yrs.
I’m 23 with a baby otw I needed a saving plan brother how much did you put up a week cuz I get paid weekly just started back getting 40hrs after the holidays 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Just look at how much income a got coming in a month and subtract all expenses, bills, food, gas etc. And figure what can go without and realistic amount to save.
He is humble about his thriftiness but let me say this, this man is one of the most generous men to ever grace our city! I have countless people that have expressed how Ocho helped them with cash when in need like tips etc. We here in Cincinnati love ocho; great man good guy!
Ochocinco was always one of my favorite players when he played but I never knew he was like this. You can tell he’s being 100% real cause ain’t nobody gonna lie about shopping for their jewelry at Claire’s. Wish more people, including myself, took his advice to heart.
For everybody who thinks this man is lying. He isn’t!!!! I played at the U and Chad would work out with us in the off season because our program was the best for any football player. He would always teach us to wear fake jewelry and not spend money. He had some of the prettiest, biggest, and fakest cubic zirconia earrings I ever seen and I wanted some bad. Your career and your name will always speak for you and not the material things we consume. Athletes, rappers, and entertainers alike have everybody fooled buying expensive materialistic items that depreciate. When people believe that is real, there is no need to have to prove that it’s not. It’s not fake it, till you make it. When you make it, continue to fake it. It’s probably what helped you get there in the first place. Miss Chad for real. Blessings to you brother!!!!

The one quote I’ll never forget that he said in the past is “Money looks a lot better coming in than it does going out.” I think about that any time I may try and get loose on spending when I shouldn't and then I don’t go reckless because I remember that. It’s always been true.
100% true. Also using that money to invest. Even if you lose it, at least its better that you tried to get rich than just spending on something that will bring nothing in return. 10k on a car to get from point A to B with some extra money for emergency is better than 30k on a car, living paycheck by paycheck.
Major respect for this man! I've been living this life for my 35 years that I worked. Retired early by being smart with my money. Time was more important than things. No regrets
I bought a house very young and it was paid for early. After that I was on easy street. The main thing to do in this country is get that house as soon as possible.
Man this man SAID IT!!! Once upon a time I had the slave mentality of feeling like I needed designer brands and jewelry to validate myself. And as I got older I realized how empty I was then. Your name and who you are is of far more value than anything you could ever purchase. Now of course I’m no multimillion dollar athlete, but it works for everyday folks as well. CONFIDENCE IS KEY!
You can tell someone’s character by how they treat service industry staff. He’s super kind and tips incredibly well. He’s also always giving free marketing to small businesses. Class act
Yea I still wouldn’t consider tipping a good form of character, regardless of person. Tipping culture in the US is stupid. We are the reason why they are paid low wages and expect customers to make up for their low pay by tipping. Regardless Ocho is still class act.
No one's perfect, we all have done things we're not proud of, but this interview made me respect him even more about how he handled money & materialistic items.

Time is not free. Time is the only thing we can’t get more of.
We want more money to buy our time back from our employers.
@@MARZOSIRUSThat was dumb anyways because people dont buy a rolex to know the time
I think Chad was referring to buying expensive watches to tell us the time.
Why buy a $50,000 watch when we all know what time it is?
@@juliankenzo clearly, you don’t buy a Rolex to tell the time. You buy it as a status symbol. He couldn’t used a better example, that’s all.
Always thought he was an arrogant player, but after listening to him, he sounds very down to earth.
Or the opposite, he is overly arrogant abt his image that he thinks nothing compares to himself and starts acting down to earth bcs nothing else compares
Because the man (white) job is to smear there image

Totally! Love that dude.
He's the kind of guy that once you're tight, you're *tight*
But it may take a bit to get there.

Ocho is the definition of "it's in you not on you" 🔥
He clean bro. Super inspirational
Bingo. 🎯
Man say that again!!!

Agreed
Chad is a man who understands self-worth, and when you know your worth everything you do, say, touch, consume all has more value, because it has the value you give it.
This guy got my respect. His approach to life is perfect and he put his priorities ahead a fake image people like to portray.
I got nothing but respect for Chad now. Today’s athletes need to learn from him. He’s got discipline
He just has bad taste in women
This is old. I remember years ago hearing him say he buys cubic zirconia.
It’s not just about his financial responsibility but his introspection and self awareness. Chad Johnson is super confident and comfortable with his own self worth that he doesn’t let society dictate or impact his decision making. Super smart dude
THIS is the video that should go viral!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
This is invaluable. I was not a Chad/Ocho fan, during his playing days. But he’s mentally grown as a man. Respecting this wisdom he’s kickin!
Seem like he been had it tho .
@@itzTOP3 True - it's always been in him. He's just able to speak without emotion and with a more robust vernacular. You love to see it.
@@itzTOP3 he may have been financially mature but he wasn’t mature anywhere else. This the same dude that head butted his wife back in the day
@diazjordan54 Evelyn used to be a violent person. Much more violent than what he did.
Meanwhile Shannon is trying to comprehend what is regular people live with everyday 🤣🤣🤣.
@@noble604 gronk was already from a wealthy family
Ben Tate - He was just one example. Alvin Kamara, for another, also says he hasn’t touched one dollar of his NFL salary money. Let’s hope Chad’s story gets coverage, too.

Maybe if he ain't buy old girl that 8 carrot ring he could buy himself something
@@MR-is4fh with a baby OTW, I prioritized getting everything they needed though, just spaced it out. Thrift stores/marketplace always more affordable

Gained a new respect for Chad, a lot of humbleness and great game in this interview 💯💯💯
Highly respect a man who doesn't find his worth in material things. A man of substance.
WOW! I appreciate the💎 you dropped brother. Peace and blessings to you!

My respect for this man’s brains just escalated immensely.
Amen to that. Had no idea he was like this.
Yup, Ocho is smarter than most of us. He values his wealth and does not show it.

I have so much respect for Chad. He needs to be the voice of not just NFL rookies but of all sports on what to do and what not to do. I wish him the very best.
He is showing so much more maturity than most people ever will have. Great role model.
That's facts. Money definitely looks way better coming in than going out

Mad respect for this brother, he has all the credentials to be a top financial advisor, seriously this can be career for him.
In dieting they say you can’t out-work the fork. Same with finance: you can’t invest what you are spending.
Ocho needs to be teaching a class to other players on Financial Literacy
For real for real.
On common sense.
He needs to impart some financial literacy amongst ALL professional athletes.

I don't understand fake jewelry. Risking being robbed for fake shine and it has no resale value
You can tell someone’s character by how they treat service industry staff. He’s super kind and tips incredibly well. He’s also always giving free marketing to small businesses. Class act
That's great to know, where did you meet him?
Stringer Bell over here..
Yea I still wouldn’t consider tipping a good form of character, regardless of person. Tipping culture in the US is stupid. We are the reason why they are paid low wages and expect customers to make up for their low pay by tipping. Regardless Ocho is still class act.
