You guys are absolutely amazing, thank you for sharing !!!.
I notice there's zero sealant on the head of the bolt and the washer
That's a great place for water to seep in. Rip transom in 3 years.
Yeah this is a really shitty job.
They used to call that bracket the Grady Drive. Not sure who made it but that was definitely made for Grady stock. Bad for peeling. Had one for years.
The bracket was made by Springfield. Very tough and very thick. Even with the corrosion, they will last forever. Just does not look great with the peeling and lifting paint. How do I know? I have one now. I have repaired it in spots, but ultimate would be if I ever remove it, to sandblast, fill bad spots/smooth and repaint. No need for a new bracket. I do find it hard to believe the owner did not want to recondition the bracket before putting back on though. Some folks could care less about cosmetics I guess, just care about function.
@@Grady252 I never knew who made it. We had a 252 for years since new with this bracket. Bracket was very solid. I still have a couple of spare fins for the bottom of it they used for a few years.
Love watching the build outs. Quality
My grady 206G came stock with it
Good work my friend. Thanks for the videos
Great work.
I can’t understand why owner didn’t sandblast and repaint bracket if he didn’t have money to replace it.
😩
...because of money
@@thugnasty13 to strip the paint and to repaint that you don’t need crazy money.
Yeah cuz fish only bite when you're in a pretty boat 😂
I was thinking the same thing. Get that pod looking beautiful.
Totally agree. Would do it myself rather than having it remounted needing paint.
I had the same boat. Pre 90 hull. Grady really went cheap back then, plastic thru-hulls, suppers below water line. Didn't glass any holes after drilling.
Nice work guys
Great work! 👍👍👍
Great work👌🏻
when used hummer never turn bolt, only nut! if turn bolt by hummer hole became bigger and silicon moved out from hole, will leak soon !
Aww yeah.. A-aron letting all the tools fall off so he can blame everyone later 😂. Who took my wrench??!
All that work just to put those awful Hondas back on 😢
Did you guys relocate ? I just ordered a shirt i have some re power questions . If i had a choice of a Suzuki 250 or honda 250 which one would you go with ?
How long did it take you guys to get that bracket level?
I have a transducer question. I had a Sim rad crew seven and transducer installed a couple years ago and the transducer has always been loose where it mounts to the bracket is this correct? Should the transducer move to allow for play or should the bracket bolt be tight?
The engine are inverted:
propeller right rotation clockwise
propeller left rotation anticlockwise.
For the rest all perfect.
That makes sense get the transom repaired and nicely refinished then bolt the crappy corroded bracket back on?
love your videos. How about a scupper video?
@ 0:10 Donny, cracked me up
Just curious was this an inboard motor boat before you went install brakes for a outboard motor
Regardless if it is covered by the bracket, should have removed the centerline marks created. Nice install, shame the owner didn’t spend the cash to replace or apply new powder coat to the existing bracket
What did they redo the transom core with if you remember?
Nice job gents!
Hi can u please provide me the measurements for building a transom for my regal 2665 to convert from inboard to outboard
Tuesday means born again boating 😎
Where did you get/buy the bracket from?
Why wouldn't the inside of the transom be finished to the top edge, wouldn't the idea to keep all water out to reduce the possibility of any damage? How many transom's need to be changed?
what is the purpose of a outboard bracket? what is in the core of it?
why not make a plywood templet of the bracket with the 2 holes for your 2 mounting bolts then hang it to finish the drilling would that of been a little easier then all that shimming .. no? not telling how to do your job but thats how i did it on my old boat worked out perfect but love your work and videos
Sshhhh don't make them think. The inside of that transom didn't look to good.
Anyone have tips on finding a 30ft center console ? Hull only
How to get bracket to sit the way you want it on forklift.... building shims. You can get them at a home building store like Lowes. Its easier than trying to find someone the exact right height... on this type of application you can use them over and over.
Along with a few lock out air bags and your shims this would be the best set up for squaring and leveling the bracket.
Where are you guys located in Florida?
nice job
That’s my neighbors boat great vid guys
Those Hondas look so heavy!
Nice job, I just wish the fiberglass guy had done his magic to the bracket to match the transom. You guys still based out of the marina you were at last year or did you guys strike out on your own? If you did make a go at it on your own you would make a ton more money with just a little added headache. Technicians are becoming harder and harder to find.
How to set engine mounting hole? hull bottom of ?
Well it depends on a lot of things, like the dead rise of the boat, the bracket angle, engines you have. We'll talk about this on the podcast. But you can get a template and the angles from the bracket manufacturer
Looks like he eats a lot of square grouper and fudge brownies
Why didn't you show marking and drilling the center holes?
Not clear how you find the centerline. Could you please better explain it?
why you mount it so low? it should be much higher
The engines weren't counterrotating?
I found some ready made once on usa websites but the price including transport and customs in india is costing a lot if u can assist me in building one it would be great
Why does the motors have to be so far from the back of the boat?
Tripod and small hoists work the best. All the rot in those boats came from rigging. They didn't glass the drill holes or cuts (notch transoms) the big disappointment was the scuppers under water line at the dock. If a hose popped off it would sink the boat. Lesson learned, research the year your boat was built (recession years) and the CEO of the builder. Alot of those guys sacked quality companies for the sake of huge exit bonuses. Look at OMC, one guy ruined that company.
Where are these guys located
Why on earth would you not address the bracket condition?
and now after all that cant afford the fuel lol
curious as to how long and the cost for a job like this?
$1000
Like everone else said it's a grady bracket. I have one on 25 dolphin. I have twin yamaha f225s and they touch when almost fully turned. I plan to replace it, but prices are way to high right now
Can I see a picture have same bracket and going twin 225 yamaha
This wa I was worried about
your helper is gorgeous
Needs to be a Manbun alert in thumbnail
Someone needs a manzier 😮
You sealed the bolt holes with 5200 between the bracket and transom. I was wondering if water can get through the actual hole where the nut and washer is?Do you have to seal it as well?
Yes
Yeh they didn't seal it there rip transom
Should of over drilled the holes and filled with epoxy then re drill for a water tight hole even if you don't use sealant water won't touch the wood in the transom.
yea this is wrong. you over drill, fill hole with epoxy to seal interior face of hole and then redrill through epoxy so that WHEN water gets in, here is no transom material to suck up water. all that work to redo the transom and they will be doing it over again with video evidence of how it all went wrong. hope liability insuance is all paid up!
@@gregorysmith9158 kind of scary they are showing everyone how to do it wrong!!!
Thanks for pointing that out! I have a very similar Grady (1984 24’ Caribbean that had a Seadrive) and rebuilt my rotten transom. I had a bracket built for me by Nextwave Marine in Florida City. Plan to install it this spring. I’m glad I read the comments!!
I have seen a bunch of videos like this do you contact the boat manufacture before you do this. I ran a quick calculation, and that bracket will add an additional torque to the transom of 1100 LBS just in a static load based on 500 LBS @ 24"that does not include the torque they produce or shock and vibration. I called Grady White and asked about putting a engine bracket on that boat They said no you should not do that it was never designed for that and will not handle the added force and will screw handling center of gravity among a long list of other things.
Why didn’t you just make a template and pilot drill the mounting holes instead of all the messing around with the forklift and shims
It wasnt even several years ago I sub'd this channel, back in the beginning, it was about High End Ultra cool navigation installs and slick High Performance lake and sea craft. NOW it's all about fixing junk and draining milky lower unit lube. time to Move On...
good luck on your boats i quit everyone keeps selling me to sell it and I think I am everyone is pushing my dream away :(
Hi I am from India can u please assist me in converting my regal 2265 to outboard because getting a ready to fit welding world is costing a fortune due to transport custom duty etc
Would have been nice if you were telling us how to measure for a bracket
Watch This : ruclips.net/video/XcX5496rGxg/видео.html
Owner put that big ugly bracket on that nice clean transom
멋지네요
very nice video
The boats a little crooked on the stand
The shot I needed to see was the inside. The lower corner bolts that seemed to barely make it into the bottom hull. The inside shot would have shown the bolts relative to the stringers is what I would like to see. Your not really filming for other mechanics

To bad owner didn't refinish bracket base at least.
I was going to say what others have said, cleaning up the bracket prior to installation should be pushed. The idea of installation, hanging engines on, rigging and already had a new transom installation is just stupid. Are they going to install a couple blown engines, since that seems to be the mindset? How much to bead blast ,prime and paint? Sounds like the owners have spent to much time in the sun.
That old bracket needs some 20-year-old Evinrude's
Im not sure which would break first😂
Don't know about an Evinrude 20 years old, but bet many from the '70s are still running especially if they were in fresh water.
this transom wil rottig soon, the whaser wil let water tru the bolt into the transom , i did not see you put anny seal around the bolt it self only on the transom and braket. yeh yeh i know my spelling sucks dont shoot me i a domb dutch farmer
Where can I get a 36 Center cancel boat for cheap
Depends how broken you want it
Usually, I do the same alone twice faster))
Can u please assist
When did you get a female coworker?
Not prepping and painting that bracket before installation makes poor sense, wtf
You are torquing bolts from the wrong side - basics of the mechanics.
I thought you were better that. Layout was great until you ignored all your marks and downhill from there. Bolting a rusty old banged-up bracket to a Grady White with a newly restored transom? Ridiculous.
I thought that was a chubby woman till it spoke.
bad service
Cherry picker
Lot of keyboard captains in the comments this time @bornagainboating
They'll be those :) lol
I agree. Some knowledgeable points about sealing the bolt holes but the 5200 was applied pretty liberally.
looks like Inboard original. Engine WAS likely almost originally placed in the forward/middle.
I'd be skeptical about The Balance having been hyper-extended she gonna porpoise as she tries to Plane Out.
That would be a very heavy hull, with all that twin engine torque lifting that beast?
I must have missed How all the hardware and controls get to the engines? I'd never advise this variation from design.
Theres a hole in the center of the bracket that all the rigging comes through
I do agree. A boat's floating line is designed to sit with the forward and aft perpendiculars on the creast of the waves and the total floating line length to divide evenly to the waves in between. As the boat will come up with the speed, the new floating lines shall continue to divide evenly to that wave length. That is the reason for porpoising and consequently the trim adjustments. Adding any extra length to the boat, without considering this ratio, affects negatively the handling of the boat.
@@Anthony-du3he u obviously dont know how complex the dual steering mechanics can be adapted. I know; "There's a Hole... it's hopefully not like yer dad's cable/pulley system...these's a hole...take a life jacket.
That boat could have had an OMC Seadrive. They put those monster 225 all-in-one bracket engines on back in the 1980s. But then he did say that the bracket is original and they are just putting it back on.
@@howechilds5060 I Noted the exhaust ports on the orig. transom
Add a bracket an Armstrong bracket put on my 245 seahawk sport cabin model. Declosing the Stern the cost of the bracket? And mounting? The. Bracket? Cost. Me $5000 it was well worthat I had twin 115 Mercury's on It
