Thanks for the upload. It brings back memories of our visit there in 2018. It was a week or two after an earthquake, and thus, to allow nature to restore and repair, only 1000 or 2000 daily visitors were allowed in at Jiuzhaigou. Like what you had with rainy events, we bought disposable raincoats that gave us protection also from gusts. Jiuzhaigou, if I understand correctly, means "Nine villages or valleys". Since I don't speak Chinese (my wife does), and the guide couldn't understand English, we ended up doing a lot of hand signing. He checked our passports, found out our ages, and stopped us from climbing to the top of the Nuorilang waterfall. Ironically, a lady in our group, probably in her early 50s, almost fainted climbing some of the stairs. We saw Dujiangyan, Huanglong, several Tibetan temples, and spent a night at the Minjiang Haoting International hotel in Songpan. Sadly, we also saw scars of the 2008 violent earthquake along the way. The images of the pristine lakes would however want us to go back there again.

This is cool. The place looks to be fully restored. I planned on going there a few years back. After bought all airline tickets, earth quake struck and place was closed. It is still on my to do list. Hope pandemic travel restricts can be eased soon.

was in Chengdu for a month in 92. Almost went to JZG but was told it's rain/flood season so quite inconvenient.
The US consulate there was getting its new building put up. Consul's wife & kid were chilling in the new yard.

I felt extremely regretful that I didn't visit Jiuzhaigou 九寨沟 before the earthquake many years ago. I heard the beauty of Jiuzhaigou had been permently demaged but it seems it is still there. Really happy to see that via your video. Thank you! After the pandemic, I wanna bring my wife there. It is very different from those in Japan.

Not really. Nature has a way of healing itself, unlike urban areas which need to be rebuilt by humans to have "life" again. Nature is life.
