    I've had one of these for a few months, and i can tell you it's a dust magnet. So much so that it stopped sticking. I love it in theory, but even though i kept it in it's protective envelope it was always fuzzy and slid around too much.

    I actually use two screen protectors. One that is adhered to the screen like they normally do and has no texture. The other is a PenTips magnetic that is textured. When I am not drawing I pop off the magnetic one and still have the one under it for protection. I find no issue with both protectors installed and the recognition of the Apple Pencil when drawing.

    Caveat: I am new to digital art on my iPad, and I’ve not used screen protectors before, but I am loving my Bellemond Removable Magnetic Smooth Kent Paper Screen Protector. I don’t have anything to compare it to other than the iPad’s glass surface, but after getting used to the feel and texture, I am a fan. Of course it dulls the color, but it’s super easy to install and remove when I want the iPad’s screen in all its glory. It makes me nervous thinking about installing a non-magnetic screen protector with the potential for bubbles, dust, and applying it off kilter. I don’t have those worries with the magnetic protector. I appreciate it fits easily over my iPad in its case.
    I don’t know how it will hold up overtime, and I expect it to wear my Apple Pencil, but I assume replacing the screen protector and pencil tips is the trade-off for using a surface other than glass.

      I was never a fan of screen protectors either, bc of the application process, but once you get the hang of it, its easy 😊 my ex was working in electronics and taught me this trick- take as much time with the cleaning as you can and if you need to (it makes it easier) cut down a small piece of the plastic backing of the screen and lay it down, from there just adjust it (if needed) and use a credit card to push it down- this gets rid of any air bubbles 😊 if you have some bigger bubbles lift the whole side up and use the credit card again to lay it down better ❤ ever since he taught me this I have never had a problem w any screen protector

  • @inknpaintCW

    Been using one of these for months. Not sure it's the same brand. I used to use paper like in the past but the diminished screen quality at all times was a problem. I used the pen tips prior to finding this magnetic option. The pen tips were ok but imprecise. I use the basic folio case from apple and this fits in it without issue and when not in use it sticks to the magnets in the case when it's flipped open.
    This solution for when I animate and draw (often) is pretty good.
    There is potential for putting it on backwards at which point it's useless as it has no tooth and creates a huge gap between the surfaces.
    It does collect oils but is easily cleaned with a screen cleaning cloth. So far so good for me!

  • @bradarnold7834
    @bradarnold7834 Год назад +31

    I tried a similar protector for a couple days and I hated it. At first it seemed like magic but that quickly wore off. The reason you don’t see bubbles is that the whole thing is a bubble. There is space between the entire protector and the screen - which causes that washed out effect to be even more pronounced under certain lighting. And I also felt a difference in initial activation force because the pen tip had to push down enough to make the protector fully contact the screen. It was so slight as to almost be imperceptible but it was there and it just made drawing feel a little bit worse all the time. I’m curious if you keep using it what your opinion will be in time. Please do a follow up if you can.

    • @EdwardsNH
      @EdwardsNH Год назад +6

      Honestly... sounds like you have it on upside down. There is no space if you put it on right

    • @bradarnold7834
      @bradarnold7834 Год назад +2

      @@EdwardsNH I didn’t put the thing on wrong - I’m not an idiot. I draw for a living and have used at least a dozen different brands of screen protectors over the years. There is inherently going to be space between this type of screen protector and the screen because it does not actually adhere to the screen. The space is nearly imperceptible but that paper thin gap is why there are no bubbles. No adherence to the screen means no air gets trapped in pockets.
      Now, I don’t know if you’re drawing on your iPad for 8-10 hours a day for work like I am but when I complain about the increase to initial activation force, that’s where I am coming from. I’m not talking about something that most people would notice. Its very subtle - not like drawing with an old Surface Pen of something. It’s just enough to make much of my sketching feel just a hair draggier and adds up over the course of a long workday to more fatigue in my wrist. The reason I asked Brad for follow-up whether he kept using the thing is because I found it very impressive up front and it wasn’t until putting in long work hours with it that I noticed the drawbacks.

  • @HaroldsMind
    @HaroldsMind Год назад +10

    I tried the PenTips magnetic screen protector for a few days, as well as their new PenTips 2.0. For the PenTips 2.0 I definitely felt the difference in resistance, although for me it felt a bit rubbery, as it felt like it added drag in a subtle way... Sort of like imagine drawing with a hard tip eraser (in a very subtle way). As for the magnetic screen protector and normal Apple Pencil tip, I liked the way it worked. It's not the same feel as PaperLike that I use, but it's definitely something I would use if I wanted to be able to remove it whenever I wanted. After a few days I went back to PaperLike as I enjoyed that just a bit more in feel when drawing. Plus you definitely do notice the difference in thickness when using the Magnetic screen protector.

    I. LOVE. This magnetic protector. I couldn’t decide if I wanted a paper feel or not. This lets me have it both ways without commitment. I use it daily, have a HEAVY hand because I’m new to drawing on iPad, and my pencil is fine. I jumped the gun and bought extra tips just in case and haven’t even needed them. I also ordered so,e rubbery tips and I like the way they work with this thing too.
    The negative mentioned about a hazy picture quality, especially from the side, is a bonus for me. I don’t like prying eyes when taking notes or drawing, especially since I feel so noob at it.
    The only negative for me is trying to move the canvas around. Half the time if it’s not set for pencil only to draw, it marks all over the place, causing me to have to back up several steps. There’s a quick fox for that as I said. I just forget to turn it on.
    Lastly I bought a cheaper knockoff from Amazon before I saw this. The cheaper version seems to work the same, maybe even better. For the price, it’s 100% worth a try. If u don’t like it, send it back (u probably won’t tho)!

    I am just not a fan of screen protectors in general. Way too many compromises to the display and I don't like the feel of drawing on them. I've always felt that it's better to just get used to drawing on raw glass. There are disadvantages, but also advantages to drawing directly on glass. In the long run, you'll benefit from not having to deal with screen protectors. This particular screen protector that can be removed and reattached on demand does seem like a reasonable compromise, though.

  • @thenoiseinmotion
    @thenoiseinmotion 6 месяцев назад +1

    I am using the screen protector for a year now and barely take it off tbh. Two things I have to say so far: 1. Be aware it snaps on both sides so make sure the grainy surfaces is on top and 2. If you use a protective case it sometimes gets a bit liftet by the magnet of the screen cover. I have the pen tips lite too but honestly think it is a bit too little control when using the screen protector so I am using just my apple pencil. The wear after a year is not visible too much and don’t bother me but I am just starting off on the iPad so I don’t think I draw on it as much as others do. I just ordered in the pen ink tips which are supposed to be the perfect match for the pen mat and will see how they are doing. But in conclusion I would say I love my pen mat especially because it is removable and I don’t get a mental break down trying to get rid of air bubbles.

      @mariamdesignstudio I finally received them a couple days ago. The ink tips have a metal tip. So do not use it without the mat. But after using it for a bit, I have to say it is a great experience to draw with them. Way more precision than with the original pen tips and a really nice friction. It is quite loud though if you draw and feels like you are drawing with a very sharp pencil on very grainy paper. In my personal opinion I do think that the mat and ink tips is a great combo. PS: The pen tips lite do not hold on the pen tips ink. So really do not use it without the mat as I think it has potential to scratch your surface.

      Most ppl I have seen use paper-like screen protectors, which are nice and do really give you the same feeling as paper, but dim down the colors and can wear down your Apple pen tip. Next are classic basic screen protectors which are shiny, dont have any affect on the color, but can be a bit slippery sometimes. Then the glass ones- really nice, more sturdy and “heavy-duty”, the sound w metal tips is really loud so that may bother some ppl, you have a gap between the screen and your pen which can be annoying at times. Then you have a paper-like glass which combines the two- dont know much about them as They are quiet new to me, but They are reviews on yt. And then there are these stick on/magnetic ones. Me personaly for drawing I would get a normal screen protector and then a magnetic paper-like one, as this way you get the best of both worlds 😂❤ and also this way you can find out which one you prefer more and “keep the one you like” and if you end up prefering the paper-like one you can buy it next time when your screen protector needs a change 😊

    Touch gets a bit bad.
    Pinch zoom needs a bit more effort.
