    These lessons is incredible. Been doing them for almost a week now and I noticed today at bandpractice how much tighter my playing is getting. Your blasts, rolls, footwork and playing in general will get a great deal better if you start doing this! Tnx for posting

    When I was playing drums several years ago, these lessons were ABSOLUTELY invaluable to me! They literally are the best thing you can do as a death metal drummer and you feel the affects of the practice immediately in your playing.

      @RafaelToscano 10 лет назад +2

      Very nice, man. How many months/years it took for you to take this speed? I'm a beginner and it simple seams impossible to me.

    • @julienhelwindrummer2387
      @julienhelwindrummer2387 10 лет назад +3

      6 month you will see huge progress and 10 years later you will be still working on !

    • @RafaelToscano
      @RafaelToscano 10 лет назад +1

      harm0nia Thanks for your answer. I'm a beginner and started these exercises today. Of course I put it veryyyy slow, but did it correctly, I think, focusing on control. :D

    • @julienhelwindrummer2387
      @julienhelwindrummer2387 10 лет назад +1

      180 or slower is a good tempo to begin with after years you will be able to roll 240-260 really easy ! but need to train a lot every day ;)

    This guy rocks. I started this exercise 6 months ago...I am not a death metal drummer, but our fastest song is around 190. I went from double bass 16th's at 110 BPM to 220 and hands to 32nd notes at 150 beats a minute. I don't practice the whole thing anymore, just daily workouts...but it does work really well.

    I found this video just at the right time. Have been struggling with double bass pedal for some time now but I've done this exercise more or less everyday for two weeks now (started VERY slow at 80 bpm which I was ashamed about because I've been practicing at 170 bpm earlier but couldn't keep at it for very long so I had to face the fact I sucked and slowed it down) and I'm noticing HUGE improvement. Of all the videos trying to teach you double bass pedal (including the lame swivel technique...) this is the ONE video you need. Seriously. Everyone tells you you cannot cheat and try playing faster before you'r ready and it's so true. There are no shortcuts, even if starting out really slow really sucks you just have to do it in order to improve. Also paradiddles with my feet has helped a lot.

    I don't know why anyone would dislike this. This exercise is the real deal. MUCH better than just playing straight 16th for 10 minutes, which always become sloppy after a while into the exercise.
    With this you work on different groupings and since you play each limb separately until the last 2 minutes, you focus more on each one, which helps to correct bad technique.

    Nice post. I'm old, busted up and play a lot of country. This is great for some of the faster blue grass/cut-time stuff we do where I'm all high hat/snare and about 180 bpm...

    I use the metronome for building double bass speed. All the routine is is you set your metronome at 75 bpm and play 16ths with the feet for 5-10 minutes. Everyday bump up the metronome 5-10 bpms. If you get to a tempo thats uncomfortable slow down a little til it becomes comfortable. Soon you'll be playing tempos of 240 and beyond.

    @bryanthecomposer 16 лет назад

    As he mentioned in the video, it's designed to build up your endurance at speed. Start at a speed thats comfortable to start with and then speed up slowly over time.
    The primary motive is endurance and control, speed will come naturally.

    i guess this proves that practicce makes perfect

    Hi mate, well, when he starts playing at 4:15, it's 8th notes, the regular counting for that would be 1&2&3&4&1... And so on, no matter how fast the click is set (in this case it's 180 bpm's), he's playing half bar with each hand, at 5:00 1 bar per hand, at 5:44 2 bars of 3/4 (Or 1 of 6/4), that's why you have groups of 12 strokes (still 8th notes) with each hand, then at 6:33 it's 2 bars per hand, 4/4 again. It is up until 7:17 that he starts playing 16th notes, hope that helps dude! :)

    Thanks for answering!
    Actually I already have one, and I restarted playing this year with it, even if I didn't take serious the technical work yet. Surely I will, but what I'm trying to find now is a way to recover my lost coordination and skills. Certainly this work helps, but I'm searching if there is something more specific (even just an explanation) on "how to recover". Thank you very much!
