    why i have N/A error ?? my problem is to say "fail(note from 0--10),pass(10--12),good(12---16),excellent(16--20)" after finding the average if a student,but still have the N/A error.. how to fix ?!

    • @StepbyStepbyMiriam
      @StepbyStepbyMiriam  2 года назад

      Hi George, N/A in Excel Vlookup means that you have an error. It means Not Available. This is usually displayed when Excel can't find the look up Value. To rectify, make sure you have your lookup table like the one in my video. Do not use used the parenthesis in your table. in the second column put in the the words for each grade besidee the relevent number. Enter 0 for the 'fail' option. Then select the entire lookup table and sort it into Assending Order before you input your Vlookup formula. I hope this helps.

    • @StepbyStepbyMiriam
      @StepbyStepbyMiriam  24 дня назад

      @debbiesmith8778 Hi Debbie Here is a few things to check: 1)Ensure that your Vlookup Table is sorted by Ascending order by the first column, 2) Ensure that within your formula that the Vloopup Cell range is made Absolute - that means it has dollar signs for the beginning table cell and dollar signs for the ending table cell 3) Make sure that all comma etc are correct within the formula. I hope this helps you.

    • @user-ht4jw4do6w
      @user-ht4jw4do6w 12 дней назад

      Agar f4 press karenge to humara cell fix ho jata h to jab hum formula wale cell to drag karte hai to wo drag nahi hota jese ki agar a2 cell mai 2 likha hai aur b2 cell aura3 m kuch value aur jab hum multiplied karenge to a2 bhi niche ki tarf drag na ho isliye

    Hi IPAPC
    I have created a video in response to my understanding of your question Neil. It’s called Excel IF Function for scores. I hope it helps. If not, take a look at my response to Jay Ai’s query as this may also work for you. Alternatively you could just set up a Vlookup table with the scores one side and ranking on the other and then just input a Vlookup formulain the cell range where you require the results.

  • @tashiwangmo
    @tashiwangmo 3 года назад

    Once again sorry to bother but, I really don't know what you mean by click f4. Here my laptop is lenova and mine f4 is not showing same result as your. So their I was struck. I can't move on. Cause I was not able to get a result

    • @StepbyStepbyMiriam
      @StepbyStepbyMiriam  3 года назад +1

      Hi Tashi, The F4 Function key on your keyboard will make Excel 'cycle' through different types of cell references when you are inputting a formula. On your Lenova Laptop you have a Key Fn (usually on bottom left), Press this Fn Key as you press F4 Function key on the top row and you will get the same result as my tutorial. Each time you hold the Fn Key as you press the F4 Function key, Excel will present you with different cell reference type as my tutorial demonstrates. I hope this helps you.

    Hello S Miriam,
    I have a question. In your tutorial teaching VLOOKUP function version 2010. Does it work the same for Windows 7? Reason I am asking is because the grade chart will not pop on windows 7. I was wondering how will I grade if chart if it does not come up? Truth be told...I am confuse!
    Best Regards,
    Margaret

    • @StepbyStepbyMiriam
      @StepbyStepbyMiriam  7 лет назад

      Hi Margaret,I have not used a chart for the Grades reference area. I simply typed this information into the spreadsheet and then just applied green highlight to the area. For example, I decided anyone who scored between 55% and 59% was awarded D- and so on. Ensure that you do something similar. You then use your Grades area cell range as your Vlookup table in your formula.The VLookup is a formula and will work if the correct formula and cell references are used. I hope this helps. (Windows 7 is only the computer's operating system Margaret)

I also have a nice little video called How to calculate percentages for Exam grades in Excel. You could also enter an IF formula such as

      Nice Question nishant!
      Vlookups can only handle data that is sorted in Ascending order. If the data in your Vlookup tables is not sorted in ascending order, then Vlookup may return an incorrect result. Also, Vlookup, cannot handle black cells or errors in the Vlookup table either, as it may return incorrect results. Hope this helps and thanks for your comment and I am glad you liked my tutorial.
