    Just got my Singer 4432 and learned more about it from your video than anything else.
    Thank you so much!

    I have a Singer Heavy Duty and I have had the same experience as you. I've had it a number of years and I have loved it for things like wizzing up a pair curtains and making cushions, like you, it has been my go to machine. I've started back on making clothes recently but seriously fell out with it making a pair of thermal softshell pants for my husband and had the same experience as you had when you tried it out on jeans... interesting! Thank you for you videos, Abbi, they are fantastic.

    I have this machine only mine is the 52 it is a really good quality machine and will sew though tough material plus it's super fast and easy to use and comes with an app. I have no complaints and was pleasently surprised with the performance.

    Thanks for the detailed review! I just ordered this for my 10 year old daughter (the one in my profile thumbnail). She wanted a "cheap" sewing machine for Christmas. I got her this one, as it looks like it should last. And, if she doesn't like sewing, we needed a machine anyway :)

    Thanks so much for this video. I got this machine as a gift and I have never used a sewing machine before, so this was really helpful for me because you covered so much about the machine and its features. Very appreciated! :)

    I am glad I found your channel. I want to go into sewing and start a little business. I’ve been eyeing sewing machines for quite some
    Time now. I’ve got zero knowledge so it’s really hard to decide. I want something basic but I want something that will last too. And I want a machine that’ll work for a lot of fabrics cause like what I said I want to create stuff that I could sell. Thank you. Your channel
    Is wonderful

    I am so incredibly grateful that I watched this video. I have recently started making handbags and was looking at this particular machine as I was hoping it would go throw multiple layers (at least 4) of faux leather. Looks like this one won't, lol. Thank you so, so much for taking the time to do this video. Looks like I am back to the drawing board, teehee. Lee :)

    If you're wanting to get into serious comparison, maybe a matrix of tasks with results on a number of machines would give a clearer picture. That said, as we sewists know, there's no such thing as the 'perfect' sewing machine, that's why we all end up with several 😉, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! I'm just doing a project of making hot water bottle covers - interestingly my modern brother NV1100 wouldn't go over the chunky bits, but my vintage brother zig-zag, no problem! In my limited experience, if you're serious about sewing a number of things from lightweight to heavyweight you need a few machines. Thanks Abi, I've found this really interesting and helpful.

      In fact you are absolutely right ...... I sew for work and I have over 30 sewing machines ..... and true there is no perfect machine ..... Only the industrial sewing machine that has linear sewing is perfect in every aspect ... but it has only one stitch. I share your common thought.

    I think a leveling foot would have prevented the messed up stiches, but you do need to push the button on the side of it when getting it to level.

    A leather needle may have helped when sewing the leatherette.

    • @AbisDen
      @AbisDen  4 года назад

      That's a great suggestion, and I can see why you suggested that, but leatherette is just a woven fabric covered in a thick, almost porous layer of plastic, it doesn't exhibit the same properties when sewing as thick cowhide so technically a leather needle is not required.

    • @celestemalec5043
      @celestemalec5043 4 года назад +2

      @@AbisDen I understand that leatherette / vinyl is not leather but I thought the sharp edge of a leather needle may have helped.

    I purchased this machine from a neighbor that was moving and I only paid $50.00. I absolutely love it but I need to learn how to use all the feature. I am now an expert sewer but I try to follow simple patterns. Which needle should I use for a thick material to make a cushion?

  • @BluDante
    @BluDante 4 года назад +1

    This sewing machine is good ..... but in trying it I noticed that sometimes it has sewing defects ..... especially when you start sewing from the corners of light fabric ..... even by decreasing the pressure of the foot .... I do not know if it could be a defect of mine.

    • @AbisDen
      @AbisDen  4 года назад +1

      It’s the feed dogs, I completely forgotten to mention them. If the feed dogs on a machine aren’t as good or there aren’t as many, then the machine struggle to stabilise the fabric as it stitches through. I found the top corners of my chiffon were not as neat. You can see that in the video. Thank you for the comment.

    Do you know how high the presser foot can lift? I can't find the information anywhere! With the Brother HF27 you measured 11 mm. And on the Brother HF27 there is a black button on the presser foot to level it - do you know whether there is a similar function on Singer 4432? :)

    Is this machine ok for complete beginners? Or too complicated really for new people ?

    • @AbisDen
      @AbisDen  2 года назад +2

      Oh definitely. I don’t think there is a beginner machine as opposed to anything non beginner in the domestic ranges. This machine sees fast but that doesn’t mean you need experience. A good machine has a good control pedal which this does. I’ve used very expensive machines that can go fast but the pedal is absolutely useless. Buttonholes look atrocious on some expensive machines. This is a good machine and perfect for every level.

    What is overlocking please? I’m new to sewing machines. And wondering if I need an overlocking machine ?

    • @AbisDen
      @AbisDen  2 года назад +1

      Overlocking is a method of securing the edge of a fabric for it to not fray. But!!! You can use the four thread overlocking machines to sew as well ! So people like to use them in stretch fabrics because the two sets of feed dogs allow a better even feed of the fabric but I use mine for all sorts !

    • @AbisDen
      @AbisDen  2 года назад +1

      Do you need an overlocker… not if you have a sewing machine. Do you want an overlocker ? If you want to sew fast, cut and edge fabric, then yes. But it doesn’t too stitch or sew pockets or button holes.

      Hi. I’ve used heavy weight upholstery fabric in the Necchi machine and it was okay but I wouldn’t know if it’s up to recovering a whole settee for example. I have a Juki dx7 which I thought would manage my gazebo canopy but it’s not that able. I’m looking at an industrial which is the same price as a reasonably priced mid range sewing machine like these.

    • @BluDante
      @BluDante 4 года назад +1

      You probably have no problems with your sewing machine ..... I don't know what you sew ....... but I, who also sew wedding dresses, honestly don't use it on light and very delicate fabrics ..... because the stitch at the beginning is not perfect ..... and as we have also seen in this video .... on heavier fabrics such as jeans sometimes the stitches are not clean. I do not know if you have had other comparisons with other sewing machines but the defect is in fact this one ...... but I also want to admit as another comment says here there is no perfect machine except the industrial one.

    • @karlrichards
      @karlrichards 4 года назад +1

      @@BluDante I have seen in the past that Singer as had quality control issues. The machine I use is a slightly newer version but basically the same. Most of the items I sew are thin outdoor 15d Nylon to heavy canvas and denim.

      Is your machine the 6635 from Argos? @Karl Callaghan, I had a look and it’s exactly the same, although 90W power. I was expecting this machine to be better than I remembered, I haven’t used it in a while, and it brought back memories of frustration of stitches not coming out as well. It’s down the the feed dogs not supporting the fabric well enough. But it IS a really great machine, it’s lasted years of great sewing. Also, my customers who asked me to sew for them, aren’t asking for jeans and leather handbags, and they don’t notice the quality of stitch. It’s just me being picky

      Yes, it is. I imported mine from the Amazon US website before they were available in the UK. So maybe that’s why I have 84W to suit their local power mains. It seems the model number is just for a Argos. John Lewis have their own model numbers too
