Because they had fat legs ( I don't wanna be rude but I don't know what to call those types of legs) and the dresses naturally suit skinny legs so when the slit was made that gave extra space for the legs and didn't stick to legs as in the first picture before slits . That's why it looked fantastic in the second picture 😅 .
@@sanjugupta9133 I disagree. Their legs are not fat.. and the dresses looked better after the slit whether it was on the person or the dress stand. I'm sorry you think they are fat though.
@@sanjugupta9133 Genuinely, shut up. You had the choice to say nothing and you CHOSE to say something hurtful and it’s not even true. Their legs are NOT fat, and even if they were, these kinds of dresses suit people with thicker thighs to begin with. Saying “you don’t mean to be mean” doesn’t stop you from BEING mean. In the future just stick to keeping your rude thoughts to yourself because it exposes you for your own biases. You should reflect on why you think it’s okay to comment and judge people’s bodies. Especially considering you’re using fashion as an excuse to promote thinspo ideals. It’s gross. The ACTUAL reason the dresses changed so drastically is because the dresses have mermaid skirts. The goal of those kinds of skirts is to create a very sleek skirt that has a wide flare. If you’re slightly taller than the intended height meant for those dresses, the flare can look limp. If you’re slightly shorter, then the flare will be rather wide and the fabric will pool around your feet in a more rumply way. These girls have the flare sitting too high up on their skirts to have the flare feel like it was *meant* for them. Mermaid skirts have to be tailored very accurately to the person wearing them for these reasons and I personally don’t think the shape is very flattering to begin with. The dresses previously sat on these girls to give them a very uniform, smoothed-out kind of look that tends to be a bit uncanny. The texture of the sequins also feels busy and sparkly, but in a cheap way, rather than an opulent way. The dresses also pooled IN FRONT of them in an unflattering way that has to be manufactured because the skirt will naturally creep under itself or push itself around when walking normally. The slit has fixed all of those issues in a very simple way. It breaks the monotony of the sequins by flashing the brighter, matte skirt linings and giving way to the legs. The girls’ complexions lend REALLY well to these lovely jewel tones and the colors complement them nicely. Having the slit also exposes the feet which means these girls can show off their shoes and have another avenue for accessorizing, which they utilized with striking, white, strappy heels. And lastly, since the skirt is split near the front, the fabric now allows them extra walking room and naturally pools itself BEHIND their feet which give a nice “curtain” silhouette. I’m currently studying fashion, I am an amateur tailor (mostly for myself because mens clothes are so boring), and fat bodies are BEAUTIFUL. It’s the failure of fashion, not the shape of the individual, that leads to clothes being seen as “unappealing” on certain people. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk
I think the slit gave the dress more movement and gave a way to bring the eye down and not just going straight down to the foor. These ladies have nothing to hide under all that fabric.
@@sanjugupta9133you can say "thick legs" because they certainly aren't fat and actually "skinny" body types don't look good in these dresses, you need either natural curves or corset and padding. The real problem was that the "before dresses" were dragging on the floor. With a slit the extra fabric looks like a "tail" (the heels make a huge difference for the end result as well). Without a slit and the heels it's just dragging on the floor and doesn't look right.

Women of the 60's & 70's were sizes 2, 4, & 6. These twins are about a size 10, which isn't bad at all, considering the average woman today is a size 18 which is obese. The twin's dresses looked better (elegant) before the slits. Now they look cheap & tacky.
