      I noticed that, but that's the mark of a great chef and leader when you can criticize and critique your own meal and learn from it. I thought it was sweet how he was supportive of the winner. I don't think Gordon is very used to "losing" so it was sweet to see him take it with humility.

    Although Gordon's personality stays through, I like how respectful he is towards the culture. He's a world-famous chef with many Michelin stars, but always looks like he's willing to learn. And to come second in a cooking competition that he could never grasp the concept of, you can't deny that was absolutely impressive! Have to give him props on that one!

    3:00 Gordon's thought process here is fascinating and shows exactly why he is different to the failing Chefs he criticises. First, he finds fault with their logic. "why are they putting the rice on when all of my experience and expertise is telling me that it only takes 20 minutes?". But instead of arrogantly assuming they were doing it wrong, he accepted that his knowledge is limited and that they know more than him and adjusted accordingly while attempting to seek out additional information to catch up with them.

      @@hellothere9169 I think it's an American thing, they have gadgets that do pretty much everything for them from what I;ve seen. I don't get it myself. They say it's for saving time, but it's quicker to just make it yourself anyway
      Edit: They're also used in professional kitchens as they provide consistent results. Still, not a kitchen necessity imo, rice is easy to cook.

      Well these are difficult cuisines. For a westerner, 2nd place is pretty decent even for Gordon Ramsey. I mean he still chucks entire star anises directly into the basting juices....so yeah. pretty decent.

    What amazes me is how quickly he adapts his techniques to the local cuisines.

      Gordon Ramsey has tons of experience cuisine and has done "great escapes" to India and Thailand.
      Using your anology, it wouldn't be going from a kickboxing style to a wrestling style of fighting but more going from a mma to wrestling.

    I love how great of sport Gordon is. He's competitive, but overjoyed to get second. And he congratulates everyone and shows his appreciation. Of course when he's going against others talking crap on him, he gives it back. I enjoy watching him in competitions better than people like Bobby Flay who are poor sports

    I love this! This is why Gordon is one of the best-he's always willing to learn. He's confident when he's within his sphere, and very humble when he knows he's out of his depth, but always willing to take on the challenge. And I love how gracious and proud he was to take second place. That's just awesome and makes me like him even more.

      he should be proud!! this cuisine is sooo different from the one he's used to.. and to get 2nd place while cooking for only 1 week, damn yeah, he's good! If he serves this in Europe, they'll be burning their mouths or running to the toilet (since the food is very spicy)
