- We start on the way out to Gladstone overtaking the leaf removing Aqua Train out of Summit. We see some rural scenes west of Bernardsville and take a brief visit to the quiet hamlet of Gladstone. We then take a scenic ride on the branch to Summit. Listen to that Interurban sounding Westinghouse AA2 horn. The colors on the leaves against the deep blue sky was intoxicating. After a brief stopover in Summit we take another ride the rest of the way to Hoboken.

Beautiful fall foliage and quaint towns. Thanks Tim for the ride.😀💚
"Hoboken? Oooh, I'm dying again" - Bugs Bunny :-) Just looked at it on the map - looks like a nice ride.
Great video!
I grew up in New Providence/Murray Hill. The east end of the branch had good memories. I will say that as the train passed Snyder Ave in Berkeley Heights, I'm kind of surprised you didn't mention the chemical company there. Conrail used to have a freight that ran to it late at night a few nights a week. Literally the only freight that ran that branch. Only time you saw diesel power unless catenary work was being done...then the trains were diesel hauled. Weird seeing MN roll through New Providence
Couldn’t think of everything
Wonder why they discontinued the old Boonton Line some 20 years ago? Was it because they built that Secaucus station? I still don't get it.

@@trainman927 I forgot about BH after Gillette.
I loved riding this line years ago with the old Lackawanna electric MU cars. It was great in warm weather, with the windows open. The sounds were as good as the sights. In those days, the catenary poles were wood. Talk about interurban. This line reminded me so much of the PRR line from Philly to West Chester, another favorite of mine. I can still hear the whine of the MP-54 cars. And if it was gear and traction motor sounds you loved, you had to ride trains of MP-54 cars at speed on the line from Philly to Wilmington.
Jeff: The Interurban Tradition really lives on here.
I commute on this line every day! I was planning to film a ride on the branch today actually but I don't know why I never got around to it. I'm usually on train 430 but sometimes I take 426 or 428 back from Gladstone
Reminds me of a mix of SEPTA's Fox Chase, Media line and West Trenton lines
I see a touch of the Doylestown branch on it.
Very friendly town. 😊
These horns are reminiscent of the North Shore Line and the ride is very much like riding the North Shore Line.
Beautiful line! Looks like what used to be the since abandoned Mine Brook station at 20:36?
I thought the Phoebe Snow went express from Newark to Summit.
Who was the railfan at Maplewood you where talking about
I avoid mentioning names but I’m sure he watches my channel
Ok thanks also I live in Maplewood and was on the other platform and saw your train
This is near where I live. This is the train I take to NYC. Are you based on Long Island?
Yessir
@@3985uprr I am also from Long Island, Nassau South Shore, but have lived in NJ for over 20 years.
One Day can you take the NJTransit Arrow 3 train ride from New York Penn Station to Washington,D.C. on Amtrak Holiday Services?
I always wanted to do that, but just never got around to it. But frankly, I must tell you that the Amtrak train crews and the passengers hate them. The crews say they're too slow and the passengers hate the seats.
@@Jeff-uj8xi limited to 80 mph due to something like the wheel bearings overheating.
This guy spends half his Social security on NJ transit tickets and the other half on Amtrak!!😂
Just about.
