I’m only just discovering his work and it’s absolutely brilliant!! A very funny guy and one whom Sacha Barron Choen should thank, because Norman Gunston far pre dated Ali G. A pity younger audiences today are not aware of the concept he created. Brilliantly funny guy and a brilliantly funny character.
Garry Mc, Norman Gunston. I saw an episode where the politician being interviewed was so pissed with you he called you a galah, the look on your face was priceless, one of the funniest comedic moments for me and I still remember it all these years later.
As for Sir Les Patterson, Dame Edna . . . etc, Barry Humphries forgot the golden rule of comedy. Always get out when the audience is screaming out for more. We went to a Barry Humphries show in Perth years ago and the ushers were all pushing us forward to closer seats, which many weren't too keen on for fear of being made a target. Problem was that the theatre was less than half full. People were sick of it.
Loved The Norman Gunston Show.Brilliant bloke Gary, had me in stitches just looking at him.I regularly watch the interview with Sally Struthers, she was great and could hardly speak for laughing. I cracked up when she looked concerned about his shaving cuts and asked dont you use an electric shaver and he said I do.That interview was one of his best and poor Sally was a great sport...Help.🏴👍😁
@@warrenookland8169 Yes Sally was a great sport and her laugh so infectious. I dont know how many times I have watched that clip...Norman at his best.🤣👍
Garry was a quintessential Aussie comedian and actor. I laughed when he interviewed Mick Jagger and Paul McCartney. Garry married a very attractive actress. Lucky man. I never married because attractive women hated me.
Have a lot of videos stored on an excellent Sony C9 BETA and would love to be able to see them, like him doing a Grease(is the word) song while working on a Dakota plane, along with his injector slippers. Brilliant.
Brilliant he is.I wish they had the interview with Muggeridge, when Norman congratulated him on his new book, The Assent of Man. Mr. Muggeridge looked aghast ,and said 'Young man, I would never have written such rubbish", you need to get your facts straight.
Garry/Norman is a legend but neither he nor Parkinson fairly represented Rudolf Nureyev who was actually charming in both their interviews with him and their homophobic comments about him are cheap and disrespectful. Other than that - fantastic to see this!
gotta love Gary. He plays the fool so well that most people aren't smart enough to know he's an absolute genius.
Garry is a comedic genius. His best interview was with Sally Struthers. “Help!”
That interview was HILARIOUS.
Sally's reaction was pure gold.
He wasn't even funny.
@Mary Ann - it helps if you've not had a sense of humour bypass.
@@simonkevnorris he's not even funny.

Each to their own.
Just out of interest, who / what gets you laughing?
Personally, I can't stand 3 Stooges type 'humour'.
Amazing harmonica playing at end. Impressed.
I think he jammed with Frank Zappa too didn't he?

Spot on sir, very perceptive.
Never forget his medley of ABBA songs,or his version of Piano Man.Brilliant.
He is the funniest Aussie ever.

I saw him live, as Norman Gunston, at the Belmont 16 Footers Club. A tremendously funny night it was. Fond memories.
Norman Gunston plus Sir Les Pattison personified the Australian character of taking the Mickey out of toffs without the victim ever knowing the joke.
You know it!
Both Gaz and Baz are experts of unscripted comedy that can lead anywhere, I find that very clever!
I wouldn't call Ali a toff...

When ever I need a pick me up I look at that interview with Sally. “I do”! 😂😂😂😂😂
I am with you re Sally Struthers interview. The poor girl did not know what had hit her. It is also one of my favorites.

"I'm Australia's answer to Michael Parkinson. I didn't realise how correct I was".
Spot on. 🤣🤣🤣
God bless this hard working Australian battler he is an inspiration to all up and coming comedians not to give in.
What an absolute legend
What a funny man, he's still my favourite Australian comedian ♥️
Legend. Love from Corrimal.
Loved you where are you give us the public a good laugh have you thought of more laughs that are out in the outback of our country
Gary AKA Arthur is one of favourite actors he really should have been in more movies and tv series because he can play any type of character .

I'm a homo myself and thought their comments were funny. There is no need to be seriously offended.

Geez awkward interview love NG ,Parko doing his usual not bringing out the best .
Agreed. Parkinson doesn’t really seem present or interested
@@robyntattersall236 Garry did talk a lot. I think Parky had problems breaking in. Love NG by the way. One of the best comedies on Australian TV.
To see his insight into human nature, watch Mother and son. It’s just brilliant
ironic that Parkinson died from Michael J Fox's.
