    My fiddle was also a clearance save! It took a few months after a repot to show any new growth but it’s finally been putting out new leaves this summer. I water it when the leaves aren’t firm when bent and it’s placed in a room with direct light for 2-3 hours and indirect light for 4-5 hours. Love the video🧡

    I always tell my planty friends that the substrate a plant from a big box store or nursery is great for growing in a greenhouse/nursery and not good for household conditions. I always repot plants with my own mix with great success. Great video.

    I've been eyeing those FLF's on my plant adventures this summer. I didn't realize that they got so big. They are pretty. Ugh bugs! I've been fighting mealy bugs on my symposiums. Blasted them with the hose, after drying drowned them with neem oil. Haven't seen them on any other plants out on my porch. Have a good week.

    My fiddle leaf fig was a mother's Day gift. It's now September and All of the leaves fell off😢. My apartment has All the no nos for this plant. I didn't do my research. I literally cried every time I heard a leaf fall to the floor. Ashley your videos explains everything I did wrong first one not re-potting😢 immediately. I grew a tiny miniature leaf about a month ago and then it withered away. I'll be moving next month and I haven't given up on her. Three months before winter approaches. I hope she makes it through the winter. I'm hopeful. If not I'll purchase another and try again next year. Great videos. 👍🤗

      Aww, sad to hear of the issues and I hope she makes a full recovery!! Mine is drooping like crazy...but only on one set of leaves on one branch. New Plant Moma and I welcome any tips. I too hope she survives...I'm too emotionally invested in her.🤣

    My solution to plants that aren’t getting enough humidity is to put them on top of my aquarium. I took pieces from an old doggie gate and it’s made out of metal so it’s good and sturdy and I can put the plants right on top. They love the humidity and they seem fine. I do take them off when I water them because I don’t want any dirt dripping down into my aquarium.

    Perfect timing on this one Ashley! Thank you! I've actually been outside the past several hours spraying off, wiping down, and watering all of my FLF that I purchased a few weeks ago. Meant to do it earlier but time got away from me. My plants from big box stores always seem to have gnats and spiders so it always makes sense to me to repot when I get them home but every video I watch or post I read always says to wait and let them acclimate first. Most say not to even water them. By not repotting, I keep fighting gnats and my FLF ends up dying. I was just looking at RePotMe yesterday and think I'm going to go ahead and purchase soil and repot them in clear pots like you suggest. That way I can actually see what's going on and know exactly how much food and water they're getting along with knowing they will all drain well. Does repotting sound like a good plan when I bring a plant home? They all say to put it where it's going to be and don't move it but that's impossible if I have to separate it for a few weeks while battling gnats. Ugh.

    Thanks, Ashley. They are kind of a fussy plant. They do not like to be moved at all. I just transplanted mine into a larger pot and it was in a bit of shock from that experience as well. After a month of getting over the shock phase, I see it's starting to make new leaves again on all of the branches.....yay! So, hopefully, she's starting to get "happy" and living life to it's fullest, ha. By the way, I love your new home in Michigan.....very cozy looking! You, girl look amazing and healthier than ever as well. Keep on keeping on!

    Thank you so much! I really love how detailed you explain care in your videos. I got a FLF a few months ago and is doing well but a couple topics in this video helped me realize I need to repot; and I will be sure to pull it away from the window when cooler weather arrives.

    Hello great video...one question i have is ..i thought from you shouldn't repot your plants soon as you get it home because it will stress them out ..thought you had to wait 3 months ..but i notice you said you repot yours....

    Biggest reason box store plants get root rot is because they experience inconsistent watering. A lot of the time the soil and roots dry out completely before being soaked again. The dry roots no longer function, and instead, rot. I look at the roots of every new store plant and repot within the first week with appropriate soil. Hardly any plants want to be in 100% coco coir, but almost all store plants are in it.

    The thing I hate is that they don't regrow the leaves they drop. They are supposed to, but mine never do. Which leaves big sections without leaves.

    Hi Ashley. I unfortunately had my fiddle leaf fig outside to get some Sun. There was a sudden drop in temperature, like down to 30. By the time I realized it was so cold and brought it inside. It looks like it’s on death’s door. The leaves are dropping and dark. Nine of the leaves have fallen off, however . Any advice on possibly saving it?

    I rescued a FLF and it never grew more than 3 leaves till I moved it outside in bright shade. But some of the leaves have a ruffled look on the edges. Too dry, uneven water? Too much sun at some point?

    • @LifewithAshleyAnita
      @LifewithAshleyAnita  3 месяца назад +2

      Hmm great question! They love to be outside during the summer and the ruffled leaves could be from a number of things. If the roots look good and there’s not issues there, it’s probably a watering or pest issue. I’d also recommend fertilizing if it’s needed. Glad to hear it’s doing better!!

    Ashley, You are looking Great, do you still have any big windows like in the last house? I love FLF but they don't love me. Does Re-Pot me ship those soil mixes to Canada? If Not do you know of any Good Places in Canada to get a potting soil almost like your's? Glad to see you posting from your new home.

    But…..a lot of prominent plant enthusiasts say do not repot right away from buying plants because you might shock them due to the new environment,just put it in isolation for a while? What say you?
