For those with larger trees like myself, a turkey baster works brilliantly for gathering the excess water from the tray!

Cutting the top off my fiddle leaf gave me three branches! I was scared cause it took about two months to see anything happening but then it grew soooo fast! It’s the most beautiful tree now!

I almost killed my first fiddle leaf fig. Put it in my car because I was moving. Texas heat and it was in there longer than I planned. All my leaves burnt and fell off. I trimmed the stems and saw new growth. I was elated. I have a new bigger one and I just love these plants. I want more!

Mine got too tall and was bending pretty bad, so i cut in down and planted the top half in another pot. It lost all its leaves and i thought it was a gonner, it stayed just a stick but was strong then suddenly about two weeks ago, i saw growth! I was so happy 😊

I got El..short for Elephant!.. About 3 weeks ago, I put him in an area that was not getting enough light, and he let me know right away! so I moved him to an area that receives brighter indirect light...I take him to the shower once a week for water and a nice rinse off, and he loves it! the new growth is phenomenal, and he is looking so much better!
I retired and moved to Ghana, and purchased him at one of the local markets..I'm a plant mom, so I'm always checking in on my babes.. It was important to integrate him into the rest of the family and I'm proud to say they are all doing quite well!

I bought a two foot tree like three years ago and it’s almost six and half feet tall now. Repotted last year - water heavily once a week and keep in a window. It’s so easy to care for that I’ve bought fiddle leafs for multiple close friends/family members who all love the plant because it gets so much strong growth easily - water it regularly and put in a window. Done.

This video is very well done... lots of information, more detailed than I've found anywhere else. I have a circular trellis around mine which are actually a group of 5 I've had for many years. I originally bought the plants this way, but they don't stay upright on their own. I was looking for an answer in getting them to support themselves and not need the trellis, but maybe the reason is related to the fact that there is more than one planted in the same pot?

Fiddle leaf figs LOVE direct light. They naturally grow in bright direct light conditions. You just have to be careful to gradually introduce the plant to direct light to allow it to acclimate. If you do not let it acclimate it will burn.

My fig tree has been dropping leaves. They look brown on the edges and I don't know if it's root rot or underwatered because I have over watered it in the past. It's been one of the most difficult plants for me to figure out. I have added fertilizers and that didn't help so now I'm going to repot it and change the medium. Thanks for this video. I really hope it will be happy with the changes.

I have found the FFF to be quite an easy plant. I bought one the size of the one in your hand about 5 years ago. It now reaches the ceiling! I read it does not like to be move....but I move mine out to the sunporch (South facing BUT indirect light) in the summer months and back into my living room under the grow light for the Michigan winter. Easy peasy! I carry my plants to the kitchen sink water well and let drain fully!! I do run a humidifier and diffuser in the Michigan's winter months. I use a potting mix of soil, perlite, peat moss and a small bit of worm castings. I am using fish emulsion (in water) in the spring!!

I just got finished pruning top off the three stems. I only cut the end of stem, the Apical bud off. It hadn’t shown any growth in six months. I recently switched to using GT Foliage Focus fertilizer. I read it was the best fertilizer. So we will see. My question is, can I mist my leaves with a few drops of this fertilizer in a water bottle? Thanks for your time. Keep up the good work.

OMG, I was totally over-watering my plant!! I live in SW Florida where it's always hot. I keep the plant out of the sun, but it's outside on my lanai. Whenever I saw that the top of the soil was dry, I'd drown the thing with about a half a gallon of water. Going to pull it out of the pot and take a look at the roots. Thank you!!!

    • @Mlspky
      @Mlspky Год назад

The best thing you can do to prevent over watering is get a moister meter at Lowes or Walmart for $12 and check the soil before you water. I have my plants inside so I check my soil each Saturday. Since yours are outside I’d check soil maybe twice a week, like Wednesday and Saturday. Set your days so you don’t forget. A meter saved my plant’s life when I first got it.

Thanks Hilton, this was a very helpful set of tips/reminders. I have a question if I may. It’s about making the main stem of the plant thicker and stronger. Ours plant has been growing beautifully without any branching thus far. As it got taller, I began to use a stake to support it. It’s so much taller now and I’ve needed to add a second taller and stronger stake. Do you think this has been detrimental to the plant in anyway? Is it perhaps giving my plant a signal that it does not need to get stronger and thicker itself to support its weight? Where would you recommend going from here? I would say the plant is about 7 feet tall. Thanks again!

I have a question: My plants get new buds that just set there and never seem to open! I watch these brown sheaths for two months and they don’t open. I water them as needed, I use a moisture meter. They are setting in front of a sunny window with grow lights. Why are my buds not opening? Please help!?!

I learned so much from this video. Thanks a lot! I had a Fiddle Tree triving for years but last year, I didn't take care very vell. So it lost a lot of leaves and 50% of the remaining leaves have brown, cracky parts. I cut of the top to propagate and later notched a part and there are sprouting so many baby leafes. Now my question, should I take of the leaves, that aren't healthy anymore? It hurts me, to take of the leaves :D.

I was just about to quit my Fiddle Leaf Fig Bambino when I found your video and have decided to hang onto it a bit longer. However I still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong as it's showing signs of both overwatering (yellowing leaves which fall off) and underwatering (crispy edges). I set watering reminders on my calendar but still can't seem to get it right. It's sat to the side of a west facing window in the south of France so I'm pretty sure it's getting enough light.🤷

In my experience it’s best to use a cactus soil mix like, Black ahold Potting Soil and add 2 cups orchid mix and a handful of pine bark to it for extra drainage. I’ve been growing Fiddles for 5+ years and have nine plants and use this soil mixture.

I have a question...i have 2 one has leaves that are hard ( healthy and green) the other one has soft leaves that are more bendable. It's there a difference in varieties?

I always have one leaf that turns brown at the end… used to be several; only one this year. What is it? I love using dilute neem oil spray and I think that has improved something?!

Hi. My name is Olga. My friend gave me a cutting of her flddle tree yesterday n i put it in freash water to let the roots grow. This morring when i when to check on it, the top two leafs looked sad, like they r not recieving water or dying. Do u think that they r in shock because they r placed in a new location or do they need something else?
