Oy Phil, I smashed that like button so hard I almost broke my phone 😁
Very exiting stuff for cuz im just started dj ing in front of crowds a year and a half ago. I have always always believed that producing songs will set me apart from the rest, tho I have no clue where to even begin! Now I know.
First I need to get a software like ableton... I just might hit u up on the gram. Much love, mate!

When I become a DJ in Ibiza I learnt this, some of them couldn't mix a cake let alone music. A couple of them were truly terrible, this was back in the vinyl days, so you could either mix or you couldn't, there was no option to fake it and stand behind a laptop.

    • @archer4922

Ah the good ol days of djing. Makes me want to dust off the 1200's and pull out the crates of vinyl now. 🎚🎛🎧🎤

Hesitant DJs: Remixing can be your gateway into production. No need for "musician skills". Find some stems, get to work. It is easier than you think.

Agreed 1000000% 👍 👍 👍 production and making your own sound is where its at. I never even though of that till I was 10 years into djing but had limited time and funds then. Still limited funds and time but at least I do play around with audacity and a couple other production programs but still not enough hours in the day between a full time job and gigs every weekend. I'm now 40 and still spinning tunes, not as many clubs these days but still rock out a wedding reception and other mobile gigs here in South Louisiana. Now to work on getting a new laptop... killed mine last weekend 3 minutes into a wedding ceremony!!! Thank God I had my phone and Spotify already cued up as a back up.
Pro DJ Tip from DJ Groove and Rock-It Productions - ALWAYS HAVE BACKUP EQUIPMENT READY TO ROLL! I keep mirrored hard drives and thumb drives on hand and a couple extra laptops. However in the last 3 months I've killed 3 laptops 😅 crazy part is my 12 year old MacBook that hasn't been updated since 2011 outlasted 2 HP windows 10 laptops(3 and 4 years old) and a acer gaming laptop(2 years old) 😁

Thanks for the insight, I might get back into it because I've stopped dj'ing for a while I'm bored of having to keep an up to date library of new music to play, and I do feel like I fit into you theory there with ideas during listening

Great video. Also your Beard looks pristine sir! I like your cut, G!
But to stay on subject, I recently discovered neural mix and DJs need to realize the possibilities this opens up for us TO have our own tracks/remixes...creating new beats on the fly using stem loops and the such and laying familiar lyrics into it. Whether we do it live or in the studio... then we can record our sets and go back and create permanent tracks from something we really like...and suddenly... folks like Tiesto will rotate out to make room for even better actual DJs who not only do the great DJ techniques but create remixes live! That you could later release for anyone who was at your show and wants to relive it! Omg i am really mind blown at how I see this is going to be my path going forward. Excited to find a way to get back to producing while also DJing...ive always only done one or the other...never both at the same time! 😍

yep - being a DJ since 1990 - opened up a world of other music
possibilities.. isn't a bad thing to actually learn music theory and
learn real instruments . I have played in bands as a DJ, r, a Keyboard
player, drummer, guitarist, sample / texture , and have produced tracks
since the mid 90s. There is business DJ and there is creative DJ. I
have seen way more business DJ's than creative types. Even doing battle
DJing in the 90s.. there was some real cookie cutter battle djs ..who
couldn't mix a set in a club to make people dance .. but they could do a
3 minute amazing routine...and guess what..they don't do anything with
    music anymore.

I saw a guy on a DJ Facebook group try to explain the same thing many months ago, most people understood and agreed with him.
But some of the older DJ's didn't agree with him, one guy named Carl Cox and Paul Oakenfold, saying that they were big before releasing their hits. It's funny that he had to go back a quarter of a century to prove a point. Another guy was really deluded and referred to himself as "famous" even tho he only made enough to pay a few bills 🤣. Famous in most people's eyes would mean you're regularly DJing all over the world for big mony. Not just know in your little genre 😂 They were utter idiots! Lol
