I've lived near Geneva my whole life, I agree with everything they said. However I would add that it's hard to find a decent job if you don't have at least a master's degree. I'm Swiss, I speak a lot of languages etc but I don't have a master's degree and it's very, very hard to find a job that pays more than 3500$ a month. And as the guy said, you'll need at least a 6000$ to be comfortable, go out regularly and have a decent apartment. So keep that in mind. Cool channel!
Thanks for the video. I live in Geneva for 3 years now and would like to add a few minor things. I live with my partner, we make together 88k as PhD students and with renting a one bedroom apartment in the suburb and living normally we manage to save more than 30% of our income. Regarding the shops, actually you cannot normally do shopping after 8 pm because the regular shops are obliged by law to close earlier except one day of the week, usually on Thursday. A good time to go looking for sales would be then Saturday evening, since the stores are closed on Sunday. Regarding the service provider for telecommunication Yallo has a decent offer, and it is using the Sunrise infrastructure. Cheers
Hey! Thank you for ur input. What are the jobs that give a decent salary? What would you prefer? Also, lets say I work as a waitress at a restuarant, do you know how much I could earn?
The best way to economize in Switzerland is working in Geneva and living and shopping in France because it's so much cheaper than Switzerland unless that you get something in Switzerland more cheaper than France. But if you make more than 4,000 Francs per month and you pay like 500€-700€ per month for one bedroom in France you are saving more than 130% of Rent by living in France and working in Switzerland. In Coop and Migros you can get a good deal but the best deal is shopping in France because it's so much cheaper than Switzerland but the only problem it's that you have to change the currency from Francs to Euros in the bank of France so you can shop in France, but its worth doing that. If you want to eat out in Restaurants what ever you do, don't eat in Switzerland restaurants unless you have the discount card that 2 people eat for the price of one, because it's very expensive. A Salad meal cost 25 Francs and 36 Francs a box of pizza when in France it's less than half of the price. Living in France is like 15 minutes depending where you are going to live but its worth doing that because you save alot of money and you can live better without having to struggle or suffering because the high cost of living in Switzerland.

I liked your comment "there are a lot of tourists which I didn't expect"... this is unfortunate that swiss folks have such a bad image of our city. It's really not much different from here in Wellington, New Zealand, The only thing is we earn a lot less here and pay much higher taxes. So it's pretty affordable to me.
Loved the video and it was very informative. I can tell you as an American, I think Swiss health insurance is very reasonable. For me to buy health insurance for me, my wife and 2 children is $2035/month in California.
Root Benly The price I mentioned is top tier medical, dental and vision for a family of 4 in California. I know cheaper options are out there. A bare bones plan for a young, single person is probably $200-300 a month (that’s a guess).
You don't need a Taxi or Uber in Switzerland. Use the public transportation it gets you anywhere. 16 swiss francs for a movie theater in Geneva? In Zurich it's 19.50 for an adult. Hair cuts costs more for women than for men (around 80.- for women)
Very well researched and documented. Based on my own experience, you are absolutely correct on all issues you researched and you commented on. Thank you!

For real it's so depressing, stressing, poverty especially if u r not from a rich or high middle class family, it's difficult for my everyday life personally n others as well who wish to get out of poverty in Africa
Hope you will get some help and make it to a better place. Don't forget that in rich countries there is lots of poverty and sadness. Everything is about money. However, I understand that peace and good services are rare in Africa and that's what makes Europe a good place to live. All the best!
I just checked your video about cost of living in Zürich back in 2017 and it was around 2500 CHF/mo. So to live in Geneva I need around 2650 CHF/mo in 2019, but how much it will be to live in Zürich now? Please, consider to make a new video about living in Zürich (2020 version). Thanks!
Interesting comment about living in France and commute. Reminds me of a few years ago when I commuted from southern Sweden, via Denmark, to Finland every week to work.
I'm an international student. I live in student housing. It's a 4br 2.5bath. Each room is 600CHF/mo. studio is 850CHF. You can find good deals and sublets on glocals and in whatsapp student groups. I live cheap and expenses total about 1200chf/mo. Lidl and Denner are cheap supermarkets. internship is 2k and full-time will be around 4700chf/mo
Just curious, if a lot of people live in France and commute to Switzerland, does that mean that most jobs in Switzerland are in English or does that mean everybody just speaks French/German?
