    Actually, healthcare is universal in Brazil. Anyone can use SUS, even foreigners, with no charges at all.

      It’s because the dollar wasn’t too strong then, about 10 years ago the exchange rate ranged between $1 = R$2 Brazilian reais or R$2.50 for 1 US Dollar.
      Now $1 = 4 or 5 brazilian reais. That’s why it’s cheaper now for foreigners.

    A lot of upper-income Africans go shopping in Dubai but if they can be introduced to Rio, the business will boom in Rio cause Rio is 100 times better than Dubai.

    Great video. I will however say that the tap water is NOT safe to drink as it is highly chlorinated and semi polluted despite it being "cleaned" The rest of the info is great. Uber prices definitely can add up or drinking costs add up too even though it is cheap to buy a beer in Rio.

    • @XxKnuckleSOverlorDxX
      @XxKnuckleSOverlorDxX 3 года назад +5

      The exchange rate is what changed. In 2010 1 USD was 1.7 BRL. Today 1 USD = 5.3 BRL.
      In Brazil we all expect the exchange rate should go back to "normal" (around 1:2) when this shitty economy recovers from the global crisis we are facing. But who knows, this might be the new normal.

    • @AntoBlo
      @AntoBlo 2 года назад +2

      @@XxKnuckleSOverlorDxX "we all" does not include economists. Exchange rates are determined by accumulated inflation and interest rates. 1:2 only happened because interest rates in Brazil were close to 10% when they were near 0 in the rest of the world. Since the difference in accumulated inflation has increased, and will continue to do so, that exchange rate is unlikely to come back, except for short adjustment periods. In fact the Real could devalue a lot more, because other countries will eventually have to raise interest rates. Brazil will have to raise too, but not at the same proportion. I wouldn't be surprised to see 8:1 in 5-10 years.
