@@Karl__Pierre hey, yes or São Paulo. But I have also thought about Curitiba because i hear it’s much cheaper and safer. I think my main concern is safety and being able to explore properly!
Hey there fellow ENTP, I think you nailed the benefits of living in Barra. The rental cost tend to be much lower than in Leblon and Ipanema and sometimes even in Copa. If you take into consideration security then barra is maybe the best place in RJ to live. The problem I see living here is the cost of living having risen a lot bc of all the new rich people that moved here. I think overall Barra has the best cost-benefit of Rio, especially in the Jardim Oceânico and ABM regions (you could take into consideration the houses regions in barra, but I think they only apply to those who are thinking on staying long term). Nice video btw. Hope to see more videos from BRASIL in your channel!
Really glad I found this channel. Planning for temporary relocation to Rio and this video is super helpful. Subscribed and looking forward to watching the other videos.
Love Leblon however personally, Ipanema is my favourite. Anywhere between posto 8-10. Posto 9 the perfect median…between beach front and the metro Nossa Senhora. Perfect mix of Copa and Leblon, short walking distance to Copanema ;-) Apoador, Copacabana, Lagoa and Shopping Leblon 👍🏻 plus shorter distance via Uber to centro or Urca/Botofogo
Thanks Tomas. I will be covering rio Brazil again from a more professional perspective I'm trying to film 30 minute television type spots. Where in Rio are you considering?
Excellent video and super informative. I have long wanted to travel to that area, but as a solo traveler I’ve worried about the safety of the areas. Out of all the areas you mentioned the one most appealing to me is Leblon, shopping restaurants and improves security all sounds good to me. Ipanema sounds good too, sounds beautiful and a little more laid back which I like. I really have to take my time and make my way through more of your videos because I truly want to get into real estate and learn about passive income.
Great video production quality. You could mention that those "low" prices are for long-term rentals excluding utilities (difficult to attain for foreigners) in zona sul. AirBNB monthly prices for more accurate costs which are inclusive. $400+ Copacabana, $700+ Ipanema, $1,000+ Leblon USD
@@Karl__Pierre Sure. I've lived in Brazil for over a year. 1) You need Portuguese or hire a translator to not be price gouged. 2) Most foreigners will want to rent a furnished, month-to-month because of the tourist visa. 3) You need a CPF, a local bank account and time to get utilities + internet setup thus a longer rental agreement will be necessary.

A great video . I visited Rio de Janeiro in 2019. I stayed in the downtown area. I stayed at a nice hotel for about 26 dollars a day this included a good breakfast. I understand the dollar is even stronger now.The neighborhood had everything that you needed and great transportation it was easy to get to all areas of Rio de Janeiro. But I'm planning an extended visit to Rio I hope to find a two bedroom apartment in the Copacabana Beach area it's doesn't have to be right on the beach but close hoping 😢 I can find something for around a thousand dollars a month unfurnished. Wish me luck. I spent 30 days in Rio it was awesome 👌.
You can certainly find something in that price range. I would say consider Barra da Tijuca really nice places, newer than copacabana same beautiful beach. Let's tourists. Beautiful city great place to visit always wanted to go to carnival there. But as far as living there it’s a No 4 me. Crime is bad and the people who you would turn to help you (the police) are corrupt. And I’m not a scary person or a person that generally worries about crime because of how I grew up. I keep my head on a swivel anyway. But as you get older there is just some things you just don’t want to worry about. Also like the other person commented Brazil is racist as hell, I’ve watched several documentaries about there racism problems. But then again it’s not like America isn’t 🤣
I get the danger part but south America has so many different cultures and skin tones I think that's a bit of an over exaggeration. Every where is racist if you want it to be. Or if that's what your focused on you'll find it.

Yeap, living in Portugal.
And in Brasil, either Rio or S. Paulo it's a bit more than petty crime...
Hope this works for you, best of luck!!
@@TheShadowVortX idk I guess since I'm from an environment where there was an annual murder counter for my city, knew 4 people murdered before I was 14, and a country where crazy people with guns will shoot up a day care or concert... I just don't see Brazil as being that unsafe.
The way is see it is if I get robbed I get robbed the person doing the robbing needs what I have way more than I do to get to that point. As far as murder goes. The trend there revolves around gang violence and drugs. That is avoidable.
I imagine Portugal is safer than Brazil mainly due economics. Crime and economics go hand and hand.
@@Karl__Pierre I see what you mean, but just the fact of knowing anyone that has been murdered, is just beyond what I accept as ok for either living or raising my family.
I mean... If I didn't have any other way... I would have to survive, but I don't see you in such position.
Of course there's crime in every country in the world, including Portugal... But violent crime is another level...
@@TheShadowVortX ok I see what you're saying. Yeah for me it's normalized
I was born in Rio de Janeiro and migrated to New York City with my parents back in the 1970s I've been here all my life but I do think time to time to retire in Rio when I first left Rio Barra did not exist Barra is known as the second Rio de Janeiro and I just love it, if I could find something reasonably cheap I well love to live in Barra💓💕💕
You should certainly return, its affordable by NYC standards. Start with a partime vist and once you secure your retirement go full time;
Great vid ... I’m able to put the landscape into a clearer perspective.
Great to hear! There are other towns nearby I didn't cover, maybe when I return.
For me Rio is the most beautiful city in the world and I travel a Lot. I would love to live their once in my life. The people are superwelcoming and pretty sexy🤭
I agree I feel it has the right mix of real life. Mountains meet the ocean line like the Pacific. Tropical weather for most regions. A mix of African, indigenous, and european culture and people. Also a live life and enjoy
On the other end economic disparity, the results if corruption etc so it feels pretty real idk how else to describe it
Love what you are doing brother keep up the great work Iam on my way !!!!!
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback. What is your target date?
Better experience In my opinion, then Leblon, then Ipanema. I'm not a fan of copacobana. I feel you can get a furnished place for that budget.
ENTPLIFE thank you for this information. Just to give you a little of my background I lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina for nearly 10 years. I own a home in Mar Del Plata, Argentina. I want to live like a local and try to avoid the tourist crowd at all costs. I just fell in love 😍 with Rio de Janeiro and want to spend time there living as a local. Again thank you for the information it was greatly appreciated by me. Safe travels to you. Oh yeah I love 💘this part of the world.
Great video!
Thanks!
I have some new stories coming on Rio...stay tuned
Thanks for the insight

Nice video. I’d love to visit Rio someday.
What's holding you back. Just left today.
If I were to live there, I want to be near people, restaurants, cafe’s, bars AND the beach.
All of the recommended places are exactly that.
I'm interested in Ubatuba in the region known as the Green Coast (Costa Verde/Litoral Norte). Hoping to buy there next May, after doing more research on the bureaucratic hoops I'll have to jump through.
I have an attorney who can help, his assistant is conversational in English. Let me know if you want an introduction

I love Lima, miraflores is amazing. What you are thinking is doable however at the startup point if doing home health you will have to be present for the majority of the year. Shoot me an email at info@entplife.com fyi it might be better for you to start with Healthcare Staffing.
Subbed! Great channel. Looking to invest in Brazil and would be interested on how international property buying works, especially for Brazil. Is it a cash purchase?
Mostly all cash. That's the downside. Credit is not easy to get as a foreigners. System is slow etc. Setup some time to chat would love to advise however I can.

I like your thought process of "let me go, check out properties globally and live international lifestyle" than several other RUclips anchors who talk about "bug-out-of-here-to- retire-elsewhere." In today's world it's so difficult to predict even 5 years from now let alone retirement age"

@@Karl__Pierre I'd love to visit Spain someday but looking to live in Mexico at least part time
Well, you are aware that we speak Portuguese in Brazil, aren't you? Of course we, Brazilians, can communicate in Spanish to a certain extent, but it's definitely another language. Think about English and Dutch, for instance: a few similarities are not enough to put them in the same bag.

I really like the Sao Conrado area Around Hotel Nacional. But I would consider Barra di tijuca area. That is a huge beach and runs for miles. If I can find a ! bedroom apt or condo. for 700 monthly. I would consider coming for 3 months first . Then after I would make the move. Need to lrarn portuguese first or enough to get around.
You totally can get an apartment for 700/month in Barra.
bet
Yeah if you're looking for where to stay this is a good guide
You didn't tell us how much it costs to buy units in Barra.

An apartment for 200 US$ in Barra da Tijuca? I wonder where that would be
Kitnet/studio in ilha da gigoa not in a new luxury apartment. Next luxury apartments starting at $600/mo
@@Karl__Pierre Well, I wouldn't call Gigoia part of Barra, actually it's kind of a favela, a bit more gentrified and with a hip paint. It was built completely irregularly on a natural preserve, it has no sanitation, trash lies around and gets thrown into the lagoon, most constructions were and are still built illegally, and I think the people there can be quite shady. Of course it has one or the other restaurant and hostels, but once you look below the surface, it's really kind of a favela.

Copacabana, used to be trendy back in the 50s, 60s, nowadays, is dirty, and not so safe, instead of Copacabana, i rather choose, Botafogo, Urca, jardim botânico, Lagoa, laranjeiras, and Cosme Velho.

Where is number 1 for you?
I get the danger part but south America has so many different cultures and skin tones I think that's a bit of an over exaggeration. Every where is racist if you want it to be. Or if that's what your focused on you'll find it.
You are so wrong. Stop watch Tv and go see the place by yourself.

The Peace of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, good morning blessed, reflect.
'I proceed to the target, for the prize of the sovereign vocation of God in Christ Jesus.' Philippians 3:14
Many times we let the enemy distract us from our target, which is Christ, so we must not let ourselves be carried away by the daily tribulations. Let's live always taking care of what is ours but always looking to Jesus who should be our biggest focus.
PRAYER: Father I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ, I thank You for the sovereign vocation of being able to follow Jesus Christ without looking back, because he has already paid for our sins with the Holy Blood, that nothing and no one distract us from this focus and may our hope of salvation increase more each day. Amen!
