It's good with healthy animals being fed the diet they evolved to eat. Crop rotation in open grass fields is ideal for cows since they graze on grass naturally and grass native to an area grows best with the rainfall it is optimized for, meaning it sort of just grows, unlike corn. The cow factories are terrible because the cows are all sick from eating non-foods and not being able to move, and disease spreads from cow to cow much more easily in those dense and enclosed spaces.

I actually recently had a dream where I was required to attend a work event in Germany. On the plane journey I heard that Goatis had disappeared and was thought to be living wild in the German forests and was being looked for by the German authorities. I decided not to attend the event and instead try to help track him down, perhaps find him before the authorities, and help him in whatever way he required. It was a fascinating journey where I found farmers who had witnessed Goatis running wildly through their farmland before disappearing deep into the forest. I never caught up to him but did find a deer carcass where only the liver had been consumed.

Probably some benefits and detriments to cured meats. The purpose of curing meats is to preserve them. So it is a smart thing to do, especially when their are scarcities of animals or changing weather. It may even have bacteria pre digesting food or adding nutrients but over time drying it out will slowly lose or degrade nutrients. So not that bad really but the other problems is that modern processes can have unnecessary ingredients that are less than ideal, especially commercially produced things. For example, most prepackaged dried sausage or stick type meats will have corn syrup and the like.

It depends by what you classify as "better"... The thing is, they shifted the rules of the game compared to peasantry of the past. Today, people eat grains that aren't even the same kind of grains they ate back in the day, and live with environmental pollutions, fake social relations and spend most of their time interacting with screens. Sure, Material Comforts are provided, and all this dazzling technology, even choices of getting anything you want in every flavor... But it's a soulless existence people live today, whereas at least in former and even turbulent times, people have more of a sense of connection with others, and other freedoms. The 90's still had many problems and it depends on what country you lived in, but relatively speaking yes, the best modern decades were the 60's through the 90's with a lot of things that came out, and where life was still relatively normal and enjoyable and where technology was not yet too invasive.

Also, if your diet is bad you will be more prone to sun damage. Artificial light can also make your skin more susceptible to sun damage. People today avoid the sun all day and all year and have terrible lifestyles, and when the sun damages their skin they act surprised.
