I grew up watching Channel 5 news as a kid. This was nine years before I was born. And I noticed that back then, Chris Clark had a Bronx or New England accent. Is he originally from up North? I just found that interesting.
I stopped drinking soft drinks because diabetes run in my family. My Dad knew Jerry Goad. I met Chris Clark in the 80's at Channel 5s current location on James Robertson Parkway, Downtown Nashville. It says in the video this was taped in 1968, I was just a tot then on my Tricycle and my Parents watching these election returns on a 20" Motorola B & W TV that fit into a roller stand. I just started Kindergarten in 1968.
This was in 1968, and I remember seeing this, sitting in the floor, playing with my toys, while my parents were watching the election. I didn't have a clue what they were talking about. Chris Clark remained with Channel 5 for many years. Gosh, were has time gone! As of this writing, I will be 49 in may 2013. There are some things that have not changed with WLAC/WTVF, Channel 5, as they have always ran a High Class, Professional Operation.
Well, yes and no. The time code shows that the local breaks for WSM and WSIX WERE recorded, but NOT transfered from the original reels as the local breaks are missing from my copies of the NBC (WSM) coverage. Only the local breaks from WLAC seem to be intact according to Vanderbilt's website.
This wasn't a B&W broadcast. This is from the Vanderbilt Univ. TV News Archive, which has recorded all network newscasts since 1968 but has only been recording them in color since 1979. The broadcast date is Nov. 5, 1968, which was Election Day that year.
WLAC-TV is now WTVF NewsChannel 5.

WLAC stands for "Working Life And Casualty"

I would imagine there is at the Vanderbilt TV news archive, since they would have been rolling tape on all three Nashville network affiliates.
Any chance there's tape of the local breaks from WSM and WSIX from election night 1968?
With COCA-COLA as its sponsor,I do feel quite a bit thirsty for some.
My vote is for that lady on top of the Chevy!
I don't think I have ever seen chroma key on a black and white broadcast. Does this pre-date Project X?

Anyone feel the need to drink some Coca-Cola? :)
