Yup and you know he spent more than that making this thing. And it’s funny cause he says he’s selling because he wants a real one.

Nice stream and great information. I saw that same post on one of the facebook groups and I was thinking this guy is crazy. But I must correct one piece of information, and that is about the backspin on the older games. All of the version 3 games from 3D to Classic have backspin and it works on the Arcade1ups which run these versions. It is correct that there is no dedicated spin button, but the spin is added with the trackball. Also remember that there are many older versions of Golden Tee in arcades and home arcades running on original PCB based hardware that people still play that have nothing to do with Arcade1up.

Very true. My old gf had a rich cousin and had a GT in his house. It was a 2000 I think. But yea. There really are a lot of people that have the original versions.

Very informative guys. This is the best video to explain online Golden Tee I've seen. IT should hire you guys to explain it all . I've yet to purchase a new Go because they should be announcing the 2025 update soon.
I sold my offline mint 2012 GT pedestal upgrade to 2021 for $3100 in order to purchase a new PGA GO. There's always someone willing to pay. I never played online.

Yep. I would wait and see what going to change or be announced. That’s awesome you have the pga go. We are going to upgrade to pga at some point.

    Rexer,
I very much enjoyed this show in particular, because I'm interested in trackball controlled games. Trackballs in some games give me the feeling of actual skill being applied to the play. When I first started playing video golf games for instance, timed button presses were the input method and I could get really good at making certain shots every time. This took the idea of skill away from me and I would become disenfranchised at some point with each game. Now don't get me wrong, I loved the PC Links games, PGA Tour Golf on the Sega Genesis, Hotshots Golf on various Sony platforms, and several versions of Mario Golf just to name a few, but once I figured out a pattern, it was like learning how your favorite magic trick is done and it's no longer magic.
Golden Tee was the first golf game I remember playing with a trackball. I remember loving the sense of skill I felt over the digital inputs I'd been used to. If my memory serves me it was the 99 version. It was fun, but it was also a commercial arcade machine, way to cost prohibitive for me and way too big and heavy. I thought it would be cool if someone could bring this home in maybe a small console format with a trackball controller. I remember from time to time seeing home versions of Golden Tee for around $50 or so (Jakks Pacific was the most common I saw), but when I finally got to see one of them on display, it didn't even come close to what I played in the arcade, not even the same game.
Now one other quick glimmer of hope for home videogame golf for me was when I laid my hands on a game called Outlaw Golf 2, which I picked up on the Playstation 2. It used the analog thumbsticks to control the direction and swing of the club. Now because it was analog and very dependent on more precise movements, there was some real skill involved, and because of this, even though I got really good, it felt like it couldn't be mastered, which made it fun to keep coming back to. But I still longed for games that controlled with a trackball, especially the bowling variety.
I fell in love with Silverstrike Bowling the few times I got to play it in the wild, but I also love older arcade trackball bowling games like Coors Light Bowling (aka Capcom Bowling) and World Class Bowling. And though I think the newer iterations of Incredible Technologies Golden Tee look cool, their other trackball games are more interesting to me. I LOVE Putt Putt Golf in real life and their Power Putt Golf looks amazing! Their Target Toss Pro also looks great and I'd love to play that someday.
Now I think you know from my previous comments that I love the concept of consumer friendly 3/4 scale home arcade cabinets. And I have some decent ones, some even made my Arcade1Up. So you can understand how excited I was to see these hybrid Arcade1Up/Incredible Technologies mods. Now the price for these are ridiculous given these are hacked versions of the games and built with mostly Arcade1Up parts, but if these were at a $1,000 - $1,200 range, I wouldn't have hesitated. The computer specs you need to run these games are extremely budget, and Glen's Retro Show has shown it doesn't take a lot of money to make a quality trackball. Heck, a commercial Suzo HAPP trackball will run you just north of $100. I think the guy who's selling these mods are banking that people know how much Incredible Technologies charges for their products and thus over inflating his. There in NO WAY is $2,900 worth of parts and labor.
And I was SO GLAD that you and Kevgret explained Incredible Technologies playing online requirements and that hacked systems couldn't participate. This really made me want to shy away from these new Arcade1Up shell mods (that and the ridiculous price). One of the reasons I still had a bit of excitement was the online aspect, maybe play with some fellow creators online from time to time. But then you also explained Incredible Technologies mandatory yearly fee to play online. The price wasn't horrible, and it's not a ridiculous ask, but on top of the already over priced (In my opinion, of course) cost to buy in with Incredible Technologies, it seems nickel and dime to me, especially when sites like Steam allow great online play and have been keeping track of stats, load outs, and stuff like that without any extra fees for decades now. Add on Incredible Technologies yearly upgrades with price hike penalties if you miss a year, cosmetic microtransactions (I know they aren't necessary to play, but cosmetics are a big thing to some when it comes to representing online), and locked modes and locked resolutions, then these hacked (Arcade1Up shell) mods start looking delicious to me. And I really appreciate you and Kev's advice not to buy new and showing many ways one can get in at a more reasonable price, I think that's VERY VALUABLE information, but it still doesn't hit what I want. With all the new information, something offline only is OK to me now.
I think there's room for a quality 3/4 scale, sub $1,000 version of something like this Arcade1Up shell mod, but manufactured by a company that IS NOT Arcade1Up. The games included here can be run on a very budget PC brain, and as I stated before, can have a high quality trackball without breaking the bank. I have 3/4 scale machines that pack enough quality that they give me the feels of playing commercial arcade machines, so I know it can be done. That's not to say there aren't differences between consumer and commercial grade machines, only a fool would claim that, but if a company really takes care and pride when making a product, there's potential to create the same feeling (or near).
I think it should come down to what an individual wants. We're not all the same, so it's safe to say that one option won't appeal to all. I remember loving the RUclips channel, John's Arcade, and though I knew (at the time) I would never have my own Home Arcade (I didn't want commercial grade arcade machines in my house), I could live vicariously through him while still enjoying my single emulation arcade cabinet. But there will always be companies that can see potential in innovations not yet explored. Arcade1Up was one such company who had lightning in a bottle, made products that allowed more people to join the Home Arcade community, but as we know, they squandered it. I feel Incredible Technologies is leaving money on the table. Instead of building a true consumer friendly priced version of their product (The "Go" aint it) to bring more of us into the game, they instead pursue easier, and dare I say, anti-consumer methods of making money by way of cosmetic microtransactions, subscriptions and upgrade fees. And I won't dismiss a company wanting to have a certain standard for their products, don't partner with companies like Arcade1Up who can ruin your company name, but also don't sit idle and think there can't be new ways to create alternative form factors to reach more people. If all companies thought that way, I would still be playing on my one emulation cabinet instead of experiencing what I never dreamed possible, owning my own Home Arcade.
Though I can't at this time see myself owning an Incredible Technologies Arcade Collection platform, I'm still glad there are seeds out there that can show new possibilities. I celebrate with you and Kevgret who love these commercial machines (even one's labeled for the home) and share them with the rest of us. Though we don't always have the same likes, I'm glad I can share my thoughts here and be a part of the conversation.
    Have a great one Rex!

Any time. Enjoy the comments. I think someone should do a pedestal version of a golden tee. Even 1up. But maybe NEw wave toys will do it. But the problem still remains , the games they run are too old. They need to up the version. We will see , one of these days someone will make something better.

Shilling the GT, creating FOMO! 😂 Great vid. I think I saw that modded 1up somewhere and thought WTF? I tell myself I don't need a GT. I know not the same, but never got into the older GTs you can play in MAME and didn't do the bar scene to get hooked on the new ones. But you guys make it look fun. Cheers🍻

I didn’t play too much GT before 2000. I don’t think I could spend $5k on one , but the way I did it made it reasonable. I’ll upgrade to pga at one point when they give a deal.
