I first saw this movie when I was 12 years old back in 1995 when it was released. To this very day, it has been and will continue to my all time favorite. The choice of characters, scenes, cinematography and plot makes this film a TIMELESS classic.

The best thing about this is that there was even a reference to this 8 point structure in the song 'Ra Ra Ramaiyya' !!! Just realised. Brilliant!!!

Being close to a fast moving train either at the railway station or the tracks gives this feeling of exhilaration and awe to most people. I think the train sound has been used brilliantly to bring these emotions subliminally to the audience during Manikam’s reveal
I have watched about 8 - 10 videos of yours and i have hardly skipped any advertisements. It is as good as your videos.
Every time I watch that scene with goosebumps, now I know the meaning of the Train sound!
Your edit at the first few seconds of this clip made me realised that the Naan Autokaraan song is simply the same song as the Baasha Paaru song, but a happier version of it.

The scene where Maanikkam's friends gladly kissing his hand is similar to how people show their respects to Don Corleone from the Godfather franchise. It's a subtle confirmation and a secret revelation of his past as a Mafia Boss.

I have noticed later mass flicks don't flow organically like Baasha does. They straight up copy the story, but don't understand what makes the build up so effective. The reason why the interval gives you goosebumps is because the first half is spent teasing his past, without revealing much. That is why the sound is muted when Rajini goes to medical college. Also the X-ray vision helps us understand that the past is very much disturbing hence the bright clashing colors in the x ray scenes. God I love this film! Please do a video on Mullum Malarum.

Basha had many variants in Tamil, Telugu, kannada and even in Malayalam and very few in Hindi, but most of the movies are blockbusters but the funfact is it was started with a Hindi movie named Hum and a deleted scene in it that is the iconic scene Ennaku innoru Peru irruku where Rajini surtlely warns the college owner Hum had not done well in the first release because of its flat narration without flashback, but in the second release the movie gained money with the suggestion of putting the first half as a flash back from rajini and it had done well in the second release but unfortunately that cut is not available currently, but that had given confidence for Rajini to do basha as it was something new at that time they were exploring, but what makes Hum little upper hand is that Tiger was not a saviour slash good person like manikyam, he was a flawed person, and the antagonist is not one dimensional and in the present AB becomes old and romance and action was done by his brothers Rajini and Govinda, but what makes basha memorable were the performances especially Raghuvaran and Rajini, Raghvaran was too scary, he was one of the best villains in Indian cinema and the songs every song is special and the elevations even though they are inspired by AB's films in the 70s to 90s, they were done in a brilliant way, especially Manikayam becoming basha though it had a lot of spoon feeding, but still give you adrenaline rush 90% of Telugu movies are still following that elevations even now

The movie is Inspired by Hum which have a different story structure & was emphasizing more on revenge element n failed to catch audience attention .. Baasha on the other had focused more on family that connected with the audience more .. I wish Rohit Shetty took some clues from Baasha before making his own version of Hum
