I was just telling my husband about following you all since those long-ago days of downsizing from your house. You have taken me so many places and shared so many adventures. I’m very grateful. Thank you!!
What an epic hike! Thank you for taking us along. I especially like this since I'm getting to the age that doing any more journeys like this are only lived vicariously through awesome people like yourselves. Bless you for sharing!
After almost 40 years and hundreds of miles of backpacking as a Boy Scout leader, I never really liked camping or backpacking but to me what usually made it worth the effort was the experiences and views of the places that you could only get to by backpacking. Now, age and arthritis have ended those experiences but thanks for sharing yours.
I loved watching your video! In the summer of 1999 I, a person who never backpacked in my life, joined up with coworkers and the owner of the company I worked for who arranged all the backcountry passes and accommodations at Phantom Ranch. It was either 2 or 3 nights. We hiked down Kaibab and back up Bright Angel. I was so ill prepared with my gear which was improvised on the cheap, I looked pretty ridiculous, but I survived!! Granted I slept in a bunk and not a tent and had a hot shower and a couple of good meals, but I was so incredibly sore, I could barely move the next day, surprised I made it up the 14 miles to get out. It was the most rewarding and amazing accomplishment other than giving birth that I have done in my entire life. My toenails did turn black and took months to return to normal! Congrats on your trip, it's something you definitely will never forget.
I love bridges because no matter what was going on in the car (games, sleeping, reading) when we took a trip, my dad would call out, “We’re coming to a bridge!” We would all pop up to see it! Special memories! 💕
I spent two summers, while in college, working at the South Rim. Each summer, we hiked to Phantom Ranch for an overnight. Going down to the canyon floor was not the problem but hiking out on the Bright Angel and the elevation gain, was insane. I was 20 the last time and said I would never do it again. Thanks for sharing your experience. It is nice to see that there hasn't been in changes in the canyon. 😆
As retirees there are just some hikes we won’t attempt any longer. But is certainly is nice to go along with you on your “Journeys”. Thank you for sharing your adventures ❤
I’ve been to the Grand Canyon twice but never in snow and ice. I went in spring one time and next in the fall. It was beautiful both times. But now I see it with you guys and it looks beautiful with snow.
Great video. Reminds me of when I backpacked from the North Rim to the Colorado right after high school. I then backpacked to the top of Mt Whitney. Great experiences.
Thank you so much for taking us on this journey. You said it well, this stage 4 cancer journeyer will never be able to do this hike. I dreamed of it in my younger years.
When we were kids our dad hiked us all the way down and back same day. I don't think we knew any better. - It's like climbing a mountain backwards: once you're all tuckered out from the hike down, rim to river, now you have to do the hard part, to climb out of the hole you got yourself into! - We had three distinct seasons in the same day: snowy winter at too, boiling summer in the middle, and springtime at the bottom. - It's a crazy thing to do, but there's nothing like it. Good on you, and thanks for bringing us along!
Great video and thank you so much for taking me with on this journey going to the bottom of the Canyon. Thank you for mentioning your merchandise. I will go check it out and see what you have. See you soon!
We backpacked in the Canyon for 16 years in a row. We were not able to get a permit this year. We have done several different trails. We have done the Rim-2Rim-2Rim three times. Needless to say we LOVE the Grand Canyon 🙂
This video brings back a few memories!! We backpacked the Grand Canyon rim to rim to rim in 2015… 5 days 4 nights.. 46 miles total!! It was an awesome memory maker!! Wow!! I loved seeing this video!!
Moleskin is your friend. My hubby did the rafting & tent camping thru the Grand Canyon decades ago & I hiked the Inca trail to Machu Picchu on my 47th birthday. Now I want to do this, but I might need that call box. Thank you for taking us along on this amazing journey & can't wait to see what y'all do next. Who knew the 11th anniversary was tent camping ?
Congratulations to all 4 of you guys, and a special pat on the back to Lindsey. You deserve to feel proud of being in the "elite 1%". I legitimately got excited when you got close enough to the Colorado River to hear it (around 15 minutes into the video). And how did I not know about that bridge? What a wonderful surprise.
Thank you for sharing your amazing adventure! It's oh so important to go with the flow and I'm glad you didn't give up when your first hike was cancelled.
Good for you in trying something new! We're a family of 6 with kids ages 5-12, who'd love to go backpacking now that they are old enough to carry some gear. My first backpacking trip was in the Grand Canyon and I fell in love with it! I'd love to share the backpacking experience with my kids and husband, but it's just such a big investment in gear. We hike a lot and car camp with a tent, and I just know they would love backpacking as much as I do.
This is the perfect week to see this. My husband and I just finished our backpacking trip at pictured rocks national lakeshore. It was cold and hard work. We're preparing for a trip where yours got canceled. Figured I should try it before I carried a pack 10 miles into a canyon for good views.
WOW that was amazing. I stayed at the Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the Grand Canyon in 1983, I totally feel for your friend and how much my feet hurt. But boy what an adventure. Love watch all your adventures
I sure am glad y'all refrained from poking Lindsay in the leg. I keep telling Tania how similar her and Marissa are, and when she saw Marissa "surviving" by bundling up in the tent, she was like, "yep, I see it." Oh, and I raised my hand when Stewart raised his hand.
40 yrs. ago my husband and I hiked the same trail you did we stayed at Phantom Ranch . you guys were doing well hiking in no mention of any problems, all i thought of while watching was WAIT until you hike OUT ! My husband and I carried out a 10 year old boy suffering from the heat ( 115 @ the bottom). I don't remember how long it took but it was rough! we had a base camp to return to and after carrying boy out we were EXHAUSTED! I told my husband I didn't care HOW MUCH A HOTEL COST! we are NOT sleeping on the ground tonight. So HAPPY you had the opportunity to hike the canyon, you will never forget it. The other day I found my day pack I carried on that hike and it had The Phantom Ranch Patch I had sewn on after our hike.
Love your videos involving National Parks. The Grand Canyon in one of my favorite National Parks. On my 50th birthday last year, I hiked Rim to Rim. Started on the North Rim to the South Rim up Bright Angel trail.
Nothing more beautiful then hiking the canyon. I have hiked the canyon Rim2Rim four times. If you ever get a chance start on the North Kaibab, hike down and out Bright Angel. It's crazy beautiful ❤
Can't tell you the number of times during a overnight backpacking trip my mind would be saying, "Never again." Then,, the day after getting back home, digging out the maps and guide books to plan the next adventure.
Thanks for the hike though memory lane! I hiked rim-to-rim when I was in Boy Scouts. It was an epic trip. Glad you were able to do that great hike! God bless!
Oh that waddle at the end brought back memories! I did the GC years ago with my the. 11 yr old. She was a trooper. I waffled like that for days! 1% Club!
Other than your video of JJ's birth, I think this is the best video ever! Would love to backpack The Grand Canyon, but don't think my hip of back could do it, sadly. Thank you for taking us along!
Omg! I laughed so hard through this video!! I've watched your videos for 2 yrs and this one was the best. 😂 The honesty is so right on 😂 I've been to the Grand Canyon and hiked the Kaibab trail all the way down and up the next day in January (yrs ago). You're right it's beautiful!! It's on my list to do it again ❤ Keep up with your journey. You inspire so many people.
My late husband, who spent over a year in the jungles of Vietnam in the late 60's taught me that changing your clothes to sleep at night would keep you from freezing. So when we camped , everyone had special socks and sweats to sleep in. It worked.
I’ve been watching you guys for years, but this is my most favorite video. I love backpacking and I’m glad that you guys had the chance to experience this.
Well GREAT ... congrats, glad you made it to the Grand Canyon. And wouldn't ya know, I'm at the Market Place on the South Rim, in the Grand Canyon right now, as I'm watching your video. It was 50 years ago that I hiked the Bright Angel Trail. Glad you got it off your bucket list.
Nice! We're here right now! My husband is a rim to rim to rim runner in one day lol. He's cray cray! 😂 Unfortunately the north rim is still closed so not gonna happen this trip. 2 years ago I hiked rim to rim in one day. It took some training but it was one of my most memorable and epic hikes. So glad you got to be be the very very few that go to the bottom of the canyon! ❤
I do enjoy seeing your travels. Not able to travel at this point, so seeing places and things thru your eyes and camera is the next best thing. Thank you for taking us along. God bless you and your family.
I’ve entertained the thought of hiking down to the bottom of the canyon. But this video was a dose of reality for me. Thank you for taking us along. I’m sure I will not be attempting it now.😂
We did not hike but we spent 1 night last fall at the canyon at Mather Campground - was supposed to be a little longer but some important thing got left behind so we spent the night and then scooted home. Car camping in a not too modified older van outfitted with a queen bed and nothing else (we brought stove, portable fridge, and water jugs). Saw Elk in the campground area and deer as well. No bears but we also passed by the corral where there were burros that the park uses for rides down and around.
Excellent attempt! Great videography. Expertly edited. Terrific job……but you can’t show anyone the immense nature of the Grand Canyon unless they see it, hike it, experience it - in person. But - well done!
Very cool!!!. We camped in Mather last month a beautiful area. Next time we need to hike down to the floor, it is a totally different perspective Thanks
I was just telling my husband about following you all since those long-ago days of downsizing from your house. You have taken me so many places and shared so many adventures. I’m very grateful. Thank you!!
Thank you for watching.
What an epic hike! Thank you for taking us along. I especially like this since I'm getting to the age that doing any more journeys like this are only lived vicariously through awesome people like yourselves. Bless you for sharing!
Beautiful
I definitely agree with Steve. As I get older, doing these types of things is only possible by watching others.
Spectacular photos with expert editing. Thank you for sharing one of the best video experiences I have reviewed in a long time
After almost 40 years and hundreds of miles of backpacking as a Boy Scout leader, I never really liked camping or backpacking but to me what usually made it worth the effort was the experiences and views of the places that you could only get to by backpacking. Now, age and arthritis have ended those experiences but thanks for sharing yours.
The ground is lower and harder than it was 40 years ago
Thank thank thank so much for taking us along. I CANT THANK YOU ENOUGH!
Thank you for watching.

Congrats on your trip, it's something you definitely will never forget.
That is totally correct, it was so worth it.
In the early 80's my cousin and I went on a canoe camping trip down the Colorado thru the G.C. with our BSA troop.
I love bridges because no matter what was going on in the car (games, sleeping, reading) when we took a trip, my dad would call out, “We’re coming to a bridge!” We would all pop up to see it! Special memories! 💕

That must have been great working there.
Happy Mother's Day to you all.Enjoy all your adventures. Have watched you since Hensley was 2 years old.
Aww thank you!
As retirees there are just some hikes we won’t attempt any longer. But is certainly is nice to go along with you on your “Journeys”. Thank you for sharing your adventures ❤
What an amazing journey! Thanks for taking us along! 💛
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you for watching.

Ice covered trail, looks dangerous, good luck people, be safe
Thank you for taking me with you.I enjoyed it so much. Love and prayers from Eden,NC
As soon as I saw your poles, I looked over at my LEKI trekking pole. Time for a trip.🥾🥾🥾
Whoo hoo! Absolutely!
Thank you for taking me places I can not go. I love it.
Thank you for watching.

Yes you are right, like hiking a mountain backwards.
Great video and thank you so much for taking me with on this journey going to the bottom of the Canyon. Thank you for mentioning your merchandise. I will go check it out and see what you have. See you soon!
Our pleasure, thank you for watching.
We backpacked in the Canyon for 16 years in a row. We were not able to get a permit this year. We have done several different trails. We have done the Rim-2Rim-2Rim three times. Needless to say we LOVE the Grand Canyon 🙂
That is awesome.
You guys ROCK! That was EPIC! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I never expected snow in the Grand Canyon. What a amazing place.
Yes they apparently get snow all the time.
Congratulations to all 4 of you guys, and a special pat on the back to Lindsey. You deserve to feel proud of being in the "elite 1%". I’m part of the 1% but we did it in June. Rim to Rim. I can’t imagine hiking it in the snow… ‘cause I’m afraid of heights!!! Great job everyone.
Whoo hoo! That’s on my list!
Thank you for sharing your amazing adventure! It's oh so important to go with the flow and I'm glad you didn't give up when your first hike was cancelled.
We are so glad we had a backup plan.
I was literally at the Grand Canyon for the 1st time last week. You guys are troopers!!!!
Oh fun! It’s spectacular!
I’m with Marissa. I’m not for tent camping. It’s all about the RV!!!!😊 Warm and comfy
Good for you in trying something new! We're a family of 6 with kids ages 5-12, who'd love to go backpacking now that they are old enough to carry some gear. Congratulations on making the hike, great video 😎🤩⭐️
Proud of you all for going for it. You can't succeed if you don't try.
That “You’ve always wanted to go to France?” comment and reaction was the best!
Wonderful, we have to add this hike to the list. Great Job 🌞
WOW that was amazing. I stayed at the Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the Grand Canyon in 1983, I totally feel for your friend and how much my feet hurt. But boy what an adventure. Love watch all your adventures

Congratulations. You did it..
The next thing you will want to do is the AT through hike. Loved it. Blessings
That was gorgeous! Funny too! Thank You!
Thank you for sharing another Journey.
Love your videos involving National Parks. The Grand Canyon in one of my favorite National Parks. On my 50th birthday last year, I hiked Rim to Rim. Started on the North Rim to the South Rim up Bright Angel trail.
Great video and hike. Thanks for taking us along!
Thank you for watching.
Awesome! I can’t believe you guys did that without hiking boots! 😳 I would have been a nervous wreck on the snow and ice section.
You are so right Marissa…thank you. I would have never gotten to see the bottom of the Grand Canyon.
Good job guys. We use to backpack all the time. Now, I love my RV!
EPIC!!! I want to be able to do this…. Thanks for taking us “old people” with y’all ❤️
So glad you can travel along with us on this journey!

Thanks for the tips.
5:00 That was a fellow hiker.
How totally awesome that you got to do that. I’ve been to the Grand Canyon four times but never been to the bottom.❤
The bottom is a different experience for sure.
way to go!!!! Havasu will still be waiting for you.
Can't tell you the number of times during a overnight backpacking trip my mind would be saying, "Never again." Then,, the day after getting back home, digging out the maps and guide books to plan the next adventure.
😂😂😂😂
Great video! I've been to the Grand Canyon but not a member of the 1%. Way to go!
We had the best time!
My dad also used to build roads and bridges. =)
That is so nice.
Wow! That was awesome, you all did so well guys. Super cool vlog, thanks for sharing. ❤❤️🇬🇧

Marissa..."And I didn't even have to stab you in the leg!" 😂😂 This was an epic adventure. Thanks for bringing us along.

Awesome video and thank you for the laughs!
You are welcome for the laughs 😀
Congratulations on a great hike.
Awww …poor Lyndsey ! I bet she recovered quickly? What a trooper! Great hike. I sure enjoyed it (from my nice, comfortable couch!). Haha 😅 ❤.
She did and yes she is amazing.
Other than your video of JJ's birth, I think this is the best video ever! Would love to backpack The Grand Canyon, but don't think my hip of back could do it, sadly. Thank you for taking us along!

Just seeing the canyon is on my list. Never in my wildest would I do the hike. (too old) Thanks for taking me along!
There is always the MULES!😀
The Grand Canyon is amazing.
I loved watching your journey! I could relate to every step😂
My late husband, who spent over a year in the jungles of Vietnam in the late 60's taught me that changing your clothes to sleep at night would keep you from freezing. So when we camped , everyone had special socks and sweats to sleep in. It worked.
Same. It makes a huge difference.
Good tip 😀
Congratulations to you all what an accomplishment. Thanks for bringing us along I loved it. 🙂🇨🇦❤👍
"Just tap your sticks"... reminds me of the original The Parent Trap movie with Hayley Mills.🤣
I’ve been watching you guys for years, but this is my most favorite video. I love backpacking and I’m glad that you guys had the chance to experience this.
So glad you enjoyed! We had a blast!
I so appreciate the bus system with free bus rides all over the place and short walks to and from the stops on the rim in central areas.
I'm soooo glad y'all did that so I don't have to. haha. What a GREAT video.
Haha! You’re so welcome!
I have rim to rim backpacked the canyon twice. I LOVE it. I wish i was with you...
Wow, that is just amazing to run rim to rim.
This was the best!! I had 3 belly laughs. Hike down to Indian Garden and back…thought I was going to die. Took us 9 hours. Really enjoyed this video.
The hike out is no joke.
Fun fact : It took the Pilgrims 39 years to dig the Grand Canyon. Great video guys. I enjoyed every second of it.
I do enjoy seeing your travels. Not able to travel at this point, so seeing places and things thru your eyes and camera is the next best thing. Thank you for taking us along. God bless you and your family.
Thank you.
Again u guys just amaze me. Your so funny & yet emotional. I get the part about your family & your dad💘🥲😂love the GCyon
Thank you.
Amazing adventure! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching.
I did the hike down to the river and up in one day thirty years ago. I wish I had that body now to do it again, but… thank you for going for me!
Wow! That is quite the hike.
I’ve entertained the thought of hiking down to the bottom of the canyon. But this video was a dose of reality for me. Thank you for taking us along. I’m sure I will not be attempting it now.😂
Hiking down is not as bad as the hike out. 😂
We just spent a week in Sedona, love the South West! Thanks for bringing us along…
Thanks for watching.
Well, you just added a bucket list hike to my list!
Awesome.
Next time we need to hike down to the floor, it is a totally different perspective
Thanks
Totally different
Thanks you guys for taking us along. Marissa was right. At my age I’ll never do that hike down into gc but I enjoyed the video.
Thank you for watching.
Thanks for doing this so I don’t have to. 😉 “My underwear…sorry, I can’t fix that” 😂🤣Loved it!❤💙
😀
