    Hi Chando, I am from Nigeria and I appreciate the great work you put in attempt to educate lots of people across the world. However, I would like to know the possibility of creating such map for countries like Nigeria, or even a local government area in Nigeria?

      Hi Hussain Ji, U can try this.
      1. Using Excel's Import Data Feature:
      a. Open Excel and go to the "Data" tab.
      b. Click on "From XML" in the "Get External Data" section.
      c. Browse and select the first XML file you want to import.
      d. Excel will display a preview of the XML structure. Adjust any import options if needed.
      e. Click "OK" to import the data into Excel.
      f. Repeat steps c to e for each XML file you want to import. Each file will be imported into a separate worksheet.
      2. U can use script or programming like VBA or Python, the latter will be the best.
      I hope U'll be able to solve UR situation.

    Hello Chandoo, thank you for this video very helpful! On my map, could I colour each country/state with the colour of my choice or does it have to be a gradient colour always indicating the comparison between values/numbers (e.g., sales?). I would like for example to mark some countries in blue (where we do business) and some in red (where we have offices) etc. Is that possible in Excel? Thank you.

    • @chandoo_
      @chandoo_  Год назад +1

      Unfortunately, it can only be a gradient color.

      If you just want two colors (blue and red), you can still use the gradient option. Set up countries in A1:A10 and doing business in B1:B10, set the value in column B as 1 for doing business and 0 for not. Then create the graph, set the gradient from RED to BLUE with boundary values as 0 and 1. This will automatically color code the graph as you want.

    NZ maps are a nightmare. Especially when using pbi. The stats nz variables keep changing. Getting a list of meshblocks and matching area units and meshblock and the Stat Areas 1 and 2 and with census 2023 Stat area 3 being introduced, I tremble in fear.

    • @chandoo_

      That is right. I wanted to make this example with NZ data but it looked pathetic. So went with Ohio data.

      I got settled in for my NZ nightmare today. First I tried to add a map using regions. No dice. Then I pulled some recent crime data by district (because it was right in front of me) and SUCCESS! I was really happy. So I rolled my regions into districts, which were a better view anyway. I was lucky I had districts.

    Is there a way to make a map using zip codes?

    • @chandoo_
      @chandoo_  8 месяцев назад

      I don't think they are possible at this time. Zipcodes are not technically areas. They are postal delivery zones. So it is possible for one side of a street to have one zip code and the other side a different code.

    Sir i VLOOKUPed some data and I need the link of that amount from where that amount is came, as that we know that CTRL+[ take up us to the link of that amount since when we manually put the formulas like =to the cell we click we want ,then when we click CTRL+[ thereby they take up us to the AMOUNT but when we Vlookup and check for link by clicking CTRL+[ they take up us to the LOOKUP VALUE but I NEED TO GET THE CELL REFERENCE OF THAT AMOUNT we Lookuped by Clicking CTRL+[ .Is there any solution for that Sir,really urgent sir .If u provide the idea it will be a great help for me.

    • @chandoo_
      @chandoo_  Год назад

      If you are using XLOOKUP, you can try
      =CELL("address", XLOOKUP(your_lookup_formula))
      VLOOKUP doesn't return references. So another option is to use INDEX MATCH which can return references and then pass the result to CELL like above.

    I plotted the data the same, but it shows it on the "flat earth" map and not just the state :(

    • @chandoo_
      @chandoo_  Год назад

      🤫 Shh.. don't tell that to flat-earthers.
      On a more serious note, check if the state names have any invisible characters or spaces? Also try adding country column and make the chart.

    Is this customizable? Meaning can I create my own map? For example, a map of an acute care hospital unit? No reason why I'm so specific 😂

    • @chandoo_
      @chandoo_  Год назад +1

      The built-in maps are not customizable. But if you have a floor plan or something and want to show occupancy rates, you can create the layout in Excel and use conditional formatting to show that. Takes a bit of work, but the results can be beautiful. See this for an example -
